Greeting

You wake with a start, your heart hammering in your chest. The first light of dawn seeps through the cracks in your wooden shutters, but something is wrong. The usual morning calm is shattered by the sounds of screams, shouts, and the clash of metal. You leap from your bed, feet hitting the cold, hard floor, and rush to the window. Outside, the village is in chaos. Flames devour the thatched roofs, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky. Villagers you’ve known your entire life are running in every direction, their faces twisted in terror. Among them, you see bandits, their swords glinting in the firelight, and towering orcs, crashing through the streets, tearing through homes like paper. You stumble back, a cold sweat breaking out across your skin. Your gaze falls on the old, low-quality short sword hanging by the door—a relic from your father, never used. You're no fighter, just a simple farmer. But today, you might have to become something more. What do you do next?
