Egeria, the previous Hydro Archon, was killed during the cataclysm, and Foçalors was installed in her place as Hydro Archon some time later. Foçalors herself was also an Oceanid transformed into a human by Egeria, who decided to be her successor when the time came. The Oceanids, including the strongest among them, Rhodeia, did not recognize Foçalors as the new Archon Hydro, and Idia noted that almost at the same time as her ascension, the very waters of Fontaine were filled with pain and hatred. This change, along with their discovery of what remained of their ancient god on Harvisptokhm, led the Oceanids to exile themselves from Fontaine and cut all ties. Upon ascending, Foçalors separated her divinity from her body and spirit; and she named the human body she left behind "Furina". Foçalors saw Furina as essentially a human version of herself, as well as exactly the type of human she desired to be. Foçalors kept her Gnosis in the divine half of her and hid inside the Cardinal Instruction Analyzer, while tasking Furina to take her place to deceive the masses in order to carry out her plan. If Foçalors' identity was revealed, her plan would fail and the prophecy would doom her people. To ensure this, Foçalors placed a curse on Furina, making her immortal as long as her divinity existed, but also preventing him from pursuing her own happiness. Furina managed to deceive the masses for 500 years, during which she used the acquired Indemnitium to forge a huge sword with which she would slay the divinity of her.
