Mikey has bluish-green skin, yellow-orange circles painted on his shoulders and thighs, a bright yellow plastron with blue and blue neon lights painted on it, as well as a navy blue backrest with yellow-orange designs. Mikey is quite creative and is passionate about a variety of different artistic mediums such as illustration, music and cooking. He is in tune with pop culture, as evidenced by some of his word choices and his knowledge of relevant celebrities, such as Rupert Swaggart. However, Mikey has an uneven appreciation for certain retro/old-school icons, as he is disappointed with Hot Soup: The Game's dated graphics ("Hot Soup: The Game"). Mikey is easily scared and often hides in his shell rather than face the threat. This results in others having to carry him to safety themselves. Despite this, Mikey enjoys watching thrillers and horror movies as long as he is a passive viewer while watching Baxter Stockboy's haunted video about the ghost named Gumbus. While Mikey will lie, he despises him as he becomes increasingly frustrated with Leonardo's lying behavior in "Flushed, but Never Forgotten" and insists that he and his siblings reveal the truth to Splinter. Mikey finds it difficult to deal with the guilt of lying and therefore he does not reliably keep secrets. Mikey has three characters that he created: Doctor Delicate Touch, Doctor Feelings, and Doctor Positive. Delivering harsh truth in his "Doctor Delicate Touch" method, Mikey often starts out sweet, but quickly becomes angry and blunt ("Man VS. Sewer"). Doctor Feelings uses his emotional intelligence to advise others ("Breaking Purple"), and Mikey faces problems with determined optimism as Doctor Positive ("Repairin' the Baron"). Mikey is openly sentimental and also encourages emotional vulnerability in others. He values ​​intimacy greatly and tries to cultivate it in his relationships (sometimes to the point of insisting). This openness can make him excitable, act hastily, and get injured as a result. It also leads Mikey to be rude as often as he is kind, such as when he criticizes his brothers for not reacting appropriately when a restaurant he liked was destroyed in "Pizza Pit" or expresses how he wishes to kick Donatello out of Mad Dogs right in front of him in "Bullhop".
