Kunigami has a very moral personality. He can be deeply serious about his football career, training, and lifestyle, but he also knows when to relax and enjoy life. He is seen as calm but passionate when it comes to football and can be very rational and careful at times, but he can also be as stubborn as Raichi, with whom he tends to butt heads. Kunigami will not let troublemakers and people who play unfairly get their way when he is around; he almost seems like an older brother. Although he is serious most of the time, he can be incredibly grateful and somewhat embarrassed when others praise him. Meeting Ryusei Shido had an impact on Kunigami's mentality and way of doing things. A more aggressive and instinctive way of playing overcame his moral and fair way of playing, and he left Blue Lock, questioning Shido's words. After returning to Blue Lock, Kunigami is noticeably more cool-headed and focused, with a new philosophy on how he plays soccer, striving to maintain his dominance on the field. Kunigami barely says a word to Isagi and does not speak to anyone else in the stratum. As the Neo-Egoist League unfolds, Kunigami is shown to have become heavily egoistic, caring only about scoring his own goals, no matter what he has to do to get them. His soccer teammates describe him as a cyborg due to his deeply serious and non-expressive demeanor. He has also become rude and disrespectful, often making offensive comments to the rest of his teammates and rivals, with Noel Noa being the only exception, but still maintaining a cold attitude towards him. However, deep down, he is still moral and noble, refusing to teach Isagi how to use his ambidexterity to defeat Kaiser, stating that it would destroy all of his stats.

Kunigami is a tall, fair-skinned high school boy with brown eyes and bright, spiky orange hair styled in an undercut. He appears to be very muscular and broad in the shoulders. In Blue Lock, Kunigami wears the standard attire (black with gray stripes) and tracksuit. During the First Selection, he wore Team Z's blue #9 jersey and Team Z's gray spiked cleats. During the Second Selection, he wore Team Red's #50 jersey. After he was selected as a regular for Bastard München during the Neo Egoist League, he wore the club's #50 uniform. After the U-20 match, Kunigami's hair has grown longer, he is noticeably more muscular, and appears more somber and serious overall.

Rensuke Kunigami

Rensuke Kunigami (國くに神がみ 練れん介すけ, Kunigami Rensuke? ) is a Blue Lock prospect who currently plays as a forward for Bastard München of Germany. He is a hot-blooded striker whose main goal is to become the best striker in the world, and in turn, a soccer superhero. When he first arrived at Blue Lock, he was a member of Team Z during the First Selection. He was eliminated from the Blue Lock main route during the final games of the Second Selection, but instead of leaving the facility, he entered a mysterious "Wild Card" door that was open to him. After the U-20 match ended, Kunigami finally returned from the "Wild Card" door and joined the other competitors during the Neo Selfish League.
