Rohan Kishibe

Origin of the character

Rohan Kishibe (岸辺 露伴, Kishibe Rohan?) is one of the main characters of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Diamond Is Unbreakable. A successful professional mangaka, who created the Pink Dark Shōnen manga, Rohan often encounters paranormal events while conducting research for his manga.

Appearance

Rohan is a handsome individual with a toned build and above average height. He has an upswept haircut that is combed to one side. While his outfit changes regularly, Rohan maintains his signature bandana and feather-tipped earrings in all of his appearances. He has a darker eyelid area. His first outfit shows him dressed in a baggy jacket and pants, over which he wears a semi-unbuttoned vest.

Personality

Rohan is very aware of his superhuman ability and success in his profession as a mangaka, thus his attitude towards others is seen as arrogant. This even borders on a narcissistic personality disorder, as Rohan generally looks down on everyone in one way or another, and truly believes that there is no one on Earth greater than him, on several occasions even speaking of himself in the third person and referring to himself as "the great Rohan Kishibe". He does not take kindly to outside criticism and has a deep need to constantly make interesting chapters for his manga, for fear of being forgotten if he does not. He doesn't socialize much, as he finds most people to be "incompatible with his personality" (especially Josuke, whom he greatly dislikes). Even Koichi Hirose, the only person Rohan does consider his friend, frequently calls him domineering and aggressive, especially when Rohan successfully manipulates Koichi into helping him with his research papers on several occasions. He even claims that he loves saying his famous signature line "but I refuse" (だが断る, daga kotowaru?) to those he claims think of themselves as being a big deal. Rohan is also an expert at psychological mind tricks. He tends to hide his true feelings with his arrogance, though he is not without his sincere moments, as seen when he bids farewell to the ghost of Reimi Sugimoto. Because he is so successful at his job, he has a lot of money. He is eccentric in his mannerisms, and one might even say that he is slightly childish. Although he acts indifferent to the affairs of others, he believes in the forces of good.

Skills

Stand: Heaven's door Heaven's Door allows Rohan to transform people into "human" books, with written pages peeling off their bodies. These pages tell detailed information about that person, including their biological characteristics, history, personality, or even the details of their Stand and abilities. Rohan's Stand Heaven's Door was acquired when he was shot with the Arrow and its nature likely originated from his zeal for drawing manga. Rohan claims that compelling manga requires a quality that can only be drawn from reality, both for its sensory variety and the depth of experience that humans accumulate. Staff Dexterity and Draftsmanship: Rohan is an exceptionally talented draftsman, capable of finishing quality manga pages at superhuman speed if he so chooses. He can draw competently without using any pre-construction lines and apply precise shading by simply flicking ink droplets with his fountain pen.

About stands

The Stand is only used in serious combat, and usually with another Stand owner. A Stand is a psychically created entity by its owner, commonly called a Stand. It is considered a physical manifestation of the user's spiritual power. The Stand usually depicts a figure floating next to the user and possesses abilities different from those of ordinary people, which, according to the Stand user, can be used for good or evil. Stands are defined as embodiments of "life energy", whose abilities are given in visual form. The Stand can also represent a manifestation of a person's "spirit" and, to some extent, embodies the human psyche. Aside from this definition, Stands come in a variety of forms and with different behaviors, if reasonable at all. They follow flexible sets of rules that are regularly violated, and there is no real standard by which Stands can be fully classified. Such as the embodiment of psycho.

Personal history (past)

When he was young, he was often left at the home of his nanny, Reimi Sugimoto. One day his parents had some important business to attend to and so Rohan was left to stay with Reimi. He was present on the night the Sugimotos were murdered, and was saved by Reimi at the cost of her own life from the serial killer Yoshikage Kira, but was in a state of shock and was unable to serve as a witness. He intentionally chose not to remember much of this stage of his life in his adult years. At some point during his childhood, Rohan, while playing on the beach, fell on some rocks and broke the ribs on the left side of his body. Due to that injury, he experiences pain in that area if he is in places where there is very low atmospheric pressure.

Historia personal (Diamond is unbreakable)

Rohan first appears in the chapter "Let's Go to the Mangaka's House", where Koichi and Hazamada go to ask for his autograph. Rohan initially comes off as somewhat creepy and kind, but his true colors are revealed; after getting angry, he uses his Stand Heaven's Door against Koichi and Hazamada to see their experiences. Rohan, rejecting Hazamada's information, decides to use Koichi's, which he becomes fascinated with; he places an anti-attack block on Koichi to avoid trouble and removes some pages from him. After the conflict, both boys have no memory of what happened, so they leave with the idea that Rohan is a normal, nice person. He then reads Koichi's memories, and in doing so, learns of Josuke Higashikata, Okuyasu Nijimura, and others affiliated with the two. Okuyasu and Josuke learn where Koichi has been following him recently, and when they try to figure out what is going on inside the house, Rohan immobilizes Okuyasu who entered through the window of his study by turning him into a book with Heaven's Door's ability, and then also writes a suicide order on him to draw out Josuke, who was hiding behind the door. Rohan attempts to take advantage of Josuke's sensitivity to his hair by forcing him to open his eyes and be subject to Heaven's Door's ability, but this is backfired when Josuke's anger prevents him from recognizing Heaven's Door in the manga, hitting and pushing Rohan without restraint. Rohan's manga, Pink Dark Boy, is put on hold for a month as a result of his defeat (though interestingly, Rohan was never shown to deform from being hit by Crazy Diamond).
