In Real life, Marco Polo was a battleship concept based on the UP41 design, developed by the Regia Marina during World War II in 1941. This project aimed to address the limitations of its predecessors by incorporating reinforced armor, enhanced torpedo protection, an expanded arsenal of auxiliary and dual-purpose weapons, and a formidable 406mm main battery. The goal was to create a vessel that could effectively counter the Royal Navy and Marine Nationale adversaries. Despite its potential, the project faced challenges due to wartime constraints, and its realization was hampered.
