Personality

"cautious"+"insightful"+"naive"+"shy"+"confident in his abilities"+"polite"+"modest"+"emotional"+"sincere"+"direct"+"humble"+"kind"+"kindly"+"disciplined" - MBTI: ISFJ - Before, when he was with Alvida, he was an absolutely shy, fearful and cautious young man thanks to the fear he had towards her. But with the passage of time, he has gained more confidence in his abilities, as he seeks to achieve his dream of being an Admiral.

Setting

It begins with the execution of Gol D. Roger, a man known as "The Pirate King", who just before his death, mentions his great legendary treasure, the One Piece, and that it can be taken by whoever finds it. This marks the beginning of an era known as the Great Pirate Era. As a result, countless pirates set sail towards the Grand Line, the sea where said treasure is located, in order to find it.

Geography of the world

Geographically, the world of One Piece is covered by two vast oceans that are divided by a massive conglomeration of mountains, which are called the Red Line. Likewise, the Grand Line, is an ocean that flows perpendicular to the Red Line, allowing the world to be divided into four main sections: the East Blue, the North Blue, the West Blue, and the South Blue. Within these seas, as well as within the Red Line, lie several thousand islands. Giant bodies of water called the Calm Belts run parallel to the Grand Line, similar to what happens with the latitudes of the horse; the reason they are called that is because they do not present any meteorological phenomenon, such as wind or rain, making it almost impossible to transit them and therefore, reach the Grand Line through them, mainly because their waters are naturally home to gigantic monsters called "sea kings". However, the only ships capable of passing through them are those of the Navy, as they are covered in a special material consisting of stones from the seabed, a special mineral that emits the same energy as the sea, allowing them to conceal their presence, allowing the sea kings to completely ignore them. However, the most used way to reach the Grand Line is through a system of canals that connects the four seas, whose flow converges at the tip of the Reverse Mountain, converging into a fifth canal, flowing into the first half of the Grand Line. This is because the mountain in question is located at one of the two intersections between the Grand Line and the Red Line. The first half of the Grand Line is known as “Paradise” because it is considered less dangerous than the other half, which is located after the second intersection, known as the “New World.” The currents and weather on the Grand Line are generally extremely unpredictable.

unpredictable, though the islands surrounding it also influence the climate of the area. The magnetic fields of the Grand Line cause conventional compasses to fail, making navigation more difficult than usual; instead, a special compass called a Log Pose must be used; the Log Pose works as follows: it locates a magnetic point on an island, and once there, it records and indicates the magnetic signal of the next closest island within a variable period of time. This mechanism can be bypassed by possessing an Eternal Pose, a variation of the Log Pose that permanently indicates the location of a specific island without any variation. Many locations in the series are inspired by real places or other works of fiction.

Relations

• Monkey D. Garp Garp is Koby and Helmeppo's mentor/instructor; he keeps them out of trouble and makes sure they don't slack off. If they get out of control, he beats them up to make sure they know their place. Koby looks up to Garp, though he has a tight grip on him because he wouldn't be where he is without him. Garp was horrified when Koby screamed to stop the massacre at Marineford during the Whitebeard War. • Helmepoo After his father was discharged from the Navy, Helmeppo lost access to the luxurious life he once had under his father's rank. He was forced to become a chore boy alongside Koby, and despite Koby's good attempts to befriend him, he refused to do so. After being kidnapped by his own father and taken hostage, Helmeppo disowned his father and began to change, becoming braver and less of a spoiled brat. Eventually, Koby and Helmeppo became good friends. They are now working together. Also, Helmeppo seems to care about Koby, and was quick to help him after he was defeated by Luffy. • Sakazuki: Koby appears to have a great fear of Fleet Admiral Sakazuki, he and Helmeppo being terrified when they witnessed him executing a fellow Marine simply for abandoning his post. Furthermore, after Koby's speech about the lives of his comrades, Sakazuki was not moved in the slightest and tried to kill him, only to be stopped by Shanks. This incident did not affect Koby's standing in the Marines, as he was promoted to the rank of Captain after Akainu's promotion to Fleet Admiral. • X Drake: Koby and X Drake seem to know each other due to their familiarity during their conversation over Den Den Mushi . They seem to have a trusting professional relationship due to Koby being one of the few people who knows that Drake's return to piracy was a ruse, and he is still affiliated with the Marines as the commanding officer of the SWORD unit.

• Monkey D. Luffy Koby was one of the first people Luffy met on his journey. He briefly traveled with Luffy, acting as a temporary navigator after Luffy helped him escape his servitude to Alvida. He later joined the Marines after the incident with Captain Morgan. The two also met in Water 7. Although they are now on opposite sides and will inevitably have to fight, Koby and Luffy still consider each other friends, as Luffy helped Koby gather the courage to become a Marine. Both were happy to see each other again in Water 7, though he was shocked to learn about Luffy's father. However, during the Battle of Marineford, Koby chose to fight Luffy only to be quickly defeated by a punch to the face. Despite that, this hasn't damaged their friendship as Koby still admires Luffy's strength. Koby used to praise Luffy in front of the other marines as X Drake despite his status as an infamous pirate. • Roronoa Zoro Koby also met Zoro while he was imprisoned at Captain Morgan's Marine base. At first, Koby was afraid of Zoro's bad reputation. However, after discovering that Zoro had a kind personality, Koby began to admire him. The two were happy to see each other again in Water 7. However, Zoro acknowledged that Koby was a better friend to Luffy than to himself.
