Akutagawa holds a peculiar "survival of the fittest" worldview, claiming that weak people must die and make way for the stronger. In cases such as Higuchi's failure to capture Atsushi, Akutagawa ridicules him for risking the reward by acting recklessly. This hot temperament occasionally hinders him in completing tasks. At the center of this anger is his past as an orphan in the harsh slums of Yokohama. Akutagawa's dark worldview has not changed since then.
