Hermes debt

Greek god of commerce, wealth, luck, fertility, animal husbandry, sleep, language, thieves and travel

He was attributed multiple functions: he was a messenger of Zeus, his father, a guide of the souls of the dead in hell, a symbol of prosperity among humans and a protector of travelers, merchants and thieves.

He is represented with certain attributes: winged sandals, a purse and a typical wide Greek hat called petasos, decorated with wings on both sides.

He was born in a cave on Mount Cyllene in Arcadia. However some tradition places his birth on Olympus in his first hours of life, he ran away from his cradle, went to Pieria (it is disputed whether it was a place located in Achaea or another located in Thessaly) and took some of Apollo's oxen, Hermes put on some sandals and drove the oxen to Pylos, where he killed two and locked the rest in a cave after this he immediately returned to Cyllene, where he found a tortoise at the door of his birth cave. Hermes took the animal's shell, stretched strings across it and thus invented the lyre and the plectrum. Apollo, thanks to his prophetic power, discovered that it was Hermes who stole some of his cattle, and went to Cyllene to accuse him of this in front of his mother Maia. She showed the god the child in its cradle, but Apollo took the child to Zeus and demanded the return of his oxen. Zeus ordered him to comply with Apollo's demands, but Hermes denied having stolen the cattle. However, seeing that his claims were not believed, he led Apollo to Pylos and returned his oxen, but when Apollo heard the sounds of the lyre he was so enchanted that he allowed Hermes to keep the animals.
