Gyutaro was cruel, ruthless, petty, and envious of anyone who had had a better life than him, due to a life of near-constant poverty and the harsh tragedies he experienced while human. He developed a habit of sarcastically praising a person's best traits before vengefully killing them afterwards, such as doing so to the samurai who attempted to kill him and Tengen Uzui after seeing their appearance. Due to the hardships he faced as a human, Gyutaro gained the personal belief that he was justified in taking those who had a better life than he had as a human. One habit he developed from this belief was an inclination to inflict harm upon himself whenever he was angry, frustrated, or jealous, as seen when he scratched himself hard enough to open deep wounds in his own flesh when he became jealous of Tengen.

Gyutaro was a tall, rather muscularly built man with a pale grey complexion flecked with black spots. His anatomy was rather odd, as his upper torso, arms, and legs were all defined by musculature, while his waist was incredibly thin to the point of appearing skeletal, with his pelvis jutting out at an unnatural angle. His spine was prominently visible across his back, and he was usually shown hunched over. Gyutaro had thin, green-and-red eyes with bright orange-yellow sclerae, which were slanted drastically downwards at the sides, giving him a permanently gaunt look. The kanji for "upper rank" (ToMePleaseYoYoJogen?) and daiji for "Six" (PleaseYesRoku?) are carved upon them. He had unruly black hair that transitioned into a brighter lime green around the crown of his head, worn messily in uneven bangs and several strands. His body and limbs had noticeable ink-like markings in the form of black spots on his body and a flowing water-like pattern on his face. He also had a full set of sharp, interlocking teeth. Gyutaro was described as being very ugly. Gyutaro was scantily clad, sporting only a pair of baggy blue pants and seven pieces of patterned red cloth to decorate his body, a large one around his neck and three smaller ones around each arm. As a human, Gyutaro had facial features similar to those he had as a demon, most notably the ink stains on his face. He also possessed the same strange contorted anatomy and hair that he had when he became a demon. His eyes were noticeably bloodshot and a pale blue color, with visible veins lining his sclera, and he had missing and uneven teeth. He was seen wearing a dirty, tattered kimono as a child.

As the true Upper Rank Six, Gyutaro was an extremely powerful demon with over a century of combat experience under his belt, having killed and devoured 15 Hashira in the past. [8] His strength and skills became apparent when he was able to easily combat both Tengen Uzui, the Sound Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, and Tanjiro Kamado, a talented Demon Slayer who had fought Lower Rank demons in the past, at the same time and eventually overwhelm them in battle. Tanjiro also noticed that Gyutaro was so powerful that his demonic scent numbed the back of his throat. Even as the battle turned in the Demon Slayers' favor, Gyutaro and Daki quickly managed to take control of the situation and corner them. Further testament to his power was the fact that despite being effectively defeated in battle, Gyutaro was still able to severely injure Tengen, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke and would likely have killed them all had it not been for Nezuko, who neutralized the poison from his finishing attack with her Blood Demon Art. Even as a human, Gyutaro was a naturally talented fighter, as shown by how he was able to kill an adult samurai in a single blow without having received any combat training beforehand.

Tactical Intellect: Gyutaro displayed incredible tactical foresight and intelligence. He was able to use the information he gathered from Daki to coordinate his attacks against his opponents. Gyutaro was also able to use his Blood Demon Art tactically to create inescapable attacks. [9] After seeing Hinatsuru fire a volley of kunai, Gyutaro correctly surmised that mounting an attack that would normally be easily mitigated by his regeneration had an underlying motive and chose to deflect the attack rather than meet it head-on. [10] He was also shown to use his flesh manipulation ability in creative ways, such as trapping Tengen and Tanjiro's sword in his flesh Kama to prevent them from moving. [11] Lastly, albeit as an afterthought, Gyutaro discovered Tanjiro's strategy, which was to disguise the scent of the wisteria-covered kunai with a bag of prostitute's incense in order to launch a surprise attack on him. Core Detachment: Gyutaro possessed the ability to completely separate his "core" from his own body, seemingly taking the form of his right eye which he then implants into his sister Daki's forehead, which then enhances and strengthens all of his sister's abilities and powers. [13] Through this, Gyutaro also developed a psychic connection with her, allowing him to see, hear, and sense everything she does and even possess and take control of her body in order to better coordinate their attacks.

Flesh Manipulation: Like all demons, Gyutaro possessed the ability to manipulate his own flesh to some degree. He primarily used this ability to shape his flesh into a pair of extremely sharp Kamas that he could even control telekinetically. [19] This was also evident as Gyutaro was able to fuse his body with Daki's and then managed to invade and infect Tengen and Tanjiro's swords with his flesh Kamas to prevent them from drawing their blades, effectively holding them in place. He also displayed the ability to twist his neck backwards. [20]

Shared Biology: Gyutaro and Daki possessed a rather abnormal trait not seen in most demons. Despite the siblings being two different people, the two essentially had one body. This could be seen in how Gyutaro typically remained hidden within Daki without altering his physical mass in the slightest. Despite Gyutaro being inactive most of the time, he was still more powerful than his sister, who was an active predator. This implies that the humans consumed by Daki also serve as nutrition for Gyutaro and vice versa, allowing the two to become stronger at the same time. Gyutaro also has some control over his sister, being able to not only reattach her head, but also heal her burned skin when under emotional distress. However, any damage sustained by one sibling is not reflected on the other.

Poison Generation: Gyutaro possessed the ability to generate extremely lethal poison, which he uses to coat his sickles in blood. [24] The poison was strong enough to kill someone who had inflicted it within a few minutes, and those who did not would be severely weakened and rendered unable to fight. Even Tengen, who had developed a high tolerance to poison thanks to his Shinobi training, was greatly weakened by Gyutaro's poison to the point that he had to forcibly stop his heart to prevent it from spreading further. [25] The poison had far worse effects on Tanjiro and Inosuke, despite the latter having a form of natural resistance to poison. [26] [27] Tanjiro was almost immediately incapacitated when inflicted by Gyutaro's poison moments after being stabbed, while Inosuke was left in a near-death state after a while. [28]

Immense Durability: Gyutaro possessed an incredibly durable body, which was demonstrated when Tengen and Tanjiro used their Nichirin Swords to attack Gyutaro's Kamas made from his own flesh to no avail as they were unable to even cut through them. [11] When Tanjiro launched a surprise attack on Gyutaro's neck, his sword failed to make a dent in the upper rank's flesh. [29] Tanjiro was only able to cut through Gyutaro's neck as his Demon Slayer Mark manifested at that moment, greatly amplifying his strength. [

Unlimited Stamina and Endurance:

Like all demons, Gyutaro possessed an infinite amount of stamina and endurance. He was able to engage in combat with both Tengen and Tanjiro for the entire duration of the battle without showing any signs of fatigue or exertion. Gyutaro also possessed immense resistance to pain, which was demonstrated when he angrily scratched himself hard enough to cause deep cuts, twisted his own neck back to block Tengen's sword attack, had both of his legs severed, and when Tanjiro headbutted him in the face. [37][38] Even before becoming a demon, when Gyutaro was slashed across the back with a katana, he still retained enough strength and endurance to retaliate against his would-be killer and carry Ume's body throughout his district to find help. Immense strength:

Gyutaro possessed incredible physical strength, being able to go head-to-head with Tengen Uzui, a Hashira who possessed a very large and muscular build. He was also able to effortlessly break two of Tanjiro's fingers,[35] send him flying into a building at high speed, and cause Tanjiro to cough up blood with a single kick to the stomach. Gyutaro was also able to send Tengen flying backwards a great distance with another kick.
