History

His first appearance is after Yellow's battle against Lance. Green is seen talking to him on the phone and telling him about the flying Pokémon (Lugia) that Lance had summoned. Like Green, he steals a Totodile from Professor Elm's laboratory. Since then, Gold tries to find him so that he can return the professor's Pokémon. Thus they became rivals. The passage of time came to change him and made him value friendship. When he became friends with Gold, the professor let the Pokémon keep him and gave him a Pokédex from Johto. He was born in Kanto, but remains in Johto most of the time. He belonged to Neo Team Rocket, a shadowy organization where everyone covered their faces with masks. The boss is the Masked Man, whose identity is hidden behind the mask. The only one he was affectionate with was Green, whom he appreciated and loved like an older sister. Above all, what he wanted was power and was recognized for his thefts and the poster that said "WANTED." It took a long time for him to leave behind everything he was and for his actions to be forgiven. Green was Silver's teammate on Neo Team Rocket, and also the most important person to him. She is the only one he is affectionate towards. In fact, the name "Silver" came from her because of the silver color of her eyes, although they ended up forgetting each other's faces due to the masks they wore. Together, they escaped the clutches of the Masked Man and finally managed to see each other's faces again. They are three years apart in age, so Green always guided Silver like an older sister. They stood out for their great ease in evolving Pokémon. She made gloves for each of them: black ones for Silver; white ones for her. From the beginning of her childhood, Silver already became one of the masked children alongside Green, who had been kidnapped by a replica of Ho-Oh and, since then, had ornithophobia.

In the Gold Saga, Silver and Crystal also appear together. There, Silver tries to protect Green from Karen and Will, the masked children of Neo Team Rocket with whom they had once befriended and who were now rivals. But he ends up badly injured, causing Green to cry. Silver confesses that he wants to fight alongside her and that he wants to protect her. The desire of a "little brother" to protect his older sister was shown. Green reacted angrily when she saw that Silver had risked himself for her and, thanks to that, she was able to overcome her fear: ornithophobia. Once the Masked Man was defeated, Gold groped Green, which made Silver angry to the point of fighting him. Both Green and Silver begin to change thanks to their classmates, who help them differentiate between what is right and what is wrong. In one of their video calls, they talk about their past. Green tells Silver that she has already found her parents. She thanks him for everything he has done for her and then he encourages her by saying that he has sent her a perfect suit for the occasion (the one she wears in the special volumes, FireRed and LeafGreen, when Green went to visit her parents). In the FireRed and LeafGreen Saga, they meet again, although he first meets Yellow. Silver has made a great change, both physically and mentally. He becomes a strong boy, capable of doing anything for his friends. At first, Silver believed that he had no father. But soon after, thanks to Yellow, he discovers that the boss of Team Rocket, Giovanni, was his father. He did not accept him, since he did not consider him as such. The day Giovanni sacrificed his life to save him, made Silver begin to doubt. It is then that Blue decides to make him change his mind and he ends up considering him his father. Because of a heart disease, Giovanni decides to leave Team Rocket, leaving Silver to be the boss, despite the great hatred that the latter feels towards the organization.

Silver and Gold have a relationship similar to Red and Blue, first rivals, then partners, and in the end they end up being best friends.

Personality

Due to his dark and traumatic past, Silver is very cold, although over time he manages to change a little and become more friendly. Despite this, he is still quite shy and introverted, not very expressive, and also a little depressed and bitter. At first he looks quite sinister, as the manga presents him as a common thief with a cold personality who seems to be evil, and he also wears a black jacket with red lines, which helps give us an even more sinister and evil image of the character. Although as the story progresses, it is revealed that Silver is a good person and if he stole Totodile it was for a cause; to be able to defeat the Masked Man, the kidnapper of his childhood.
