Appearance Himeno was a young, attractive and somewhat voluptuous looking woman, with a tall stature almost similar to Aki's, with pale skin, blue eyes and short, straight, dark hair. She wore an eye patch over her right eye, to hide its absence, and was usually seen dressed in her full public safety demon hunter outfit, including the black tie.[1]

Personality Himeno was presented as a mature, experienced, and superior figure to the new recruits working under her. She generally carried herself with optimistic body language and was able to remain calm in extremely stressful situations, such as the initial phase of her group's battle against the Eternity Demon. Himeno motivated Denji by offering him a French kiss, implying that she was at least somewhat perceptive of the people around her and willing to take unorthodox approaches to ensure the best possible results.[2] Himeno was shown to be very efficient and forceful in her duty as a Demon Slayer. She responded to a small and seemingly insignificant Demon by almost immediately using her Phantom Demon to subdue it. She has been shown to have a harsher side and little tolerance for behavior from new recruits that would endanger or harm her subordinates, as she quickly knocked out Kobeni when the latter attempted to stab Denji.[3]

Himeno was seen as a rather caring and empathetic person. She cared for the well-being of her comrades, as shown by her strong desire not to betray Denji during their first mission together. In a brief flashback scene, Himeno was shown to be very patient and tolerant towards those grieving the loss of their former comrades, such as when one of their comrades' ex-girlfriends slapped her hard, blaming her for what happened.[4] However, despite this cheerful presentation, Himeno also had an extremely pessimistic worldview as a result of having witnessed the sudden deaths of multiple partners in her line of work. This knowledge that Demon Slayers typically die as a result of their career, combined with her master's teachings, eventually led to her developing an addiction to nicotine as a coping mechanism. Himeno even went as far as to pressure Aki into taking up smoking as a new recruit, citing the fact that Demon Slayers typically do not live long enough to suffer the negative side effects of prolonged tobacco use anyway.

Himeno had strongly internalized another old teaching from her master: that only Demon Slayers "who have a few screws loose" are ultimately the most successful at their job, due to the general sense of unpredictability presented by their willingness to do unusual things to defeat opponents.[6] Himeno cared deeply for Aki, who was trained as her new recruit and had a close personal bond. In fact, Himeno considered the side effects of Aki's use of the Nail Sword bad enough that it was worth sacrificing Denji in her place, putting into perspective how much she valued Aki's well-being. [7] She secretly wished and sought a way for Aki to give up the public Demon Slayer job for her sake, as revealed in her letters to her sister.

Powers and Abilities Contracts Phantom Demon: Himeno had the ability to summon the Phantom Demon's right arm, for which she formed a contract where she sacrificed her right eye for it[8]; the Phantom Demon's right arm was invisible and intangible[9], and strong enough to severely injure the Eternity Demon.[10] During her fight with Akane, Himeno, in exchange for granting her entire body to the Phantom Demon, managed to summon it in its entirety to attack Akane.[11] Skills Hand-to-hand combat: Himeno was a skilled fighter who was able to instantly incapacitate Kobeni after she was disarmed.[12]
