Maki is a tall and slim teenage girl, reaching 170 centimeters [2]. Her hair is black and completely straight; during her first year at Tokyo High School, she wore a ponytail and bangs to one side [5], from her second year onwards, she wears the same ponytail but with straight bangs [6]. She wears a pair of glasses that contain cursed energy that allow her to see curses [5] [7]. In the anime, her hair is depicted as a greenish-black color and brown eyes [8]. After receiving a fire attack from Jogo during the Shibuya Incident Arc[9], Maki was left with visible burns on both her face and both arms, her hair now extends to her chin and she wears an eye patch over her right eye. She now wears round glasses, her school uniform now consists of a dark, long-sleeved, open jacket with the characteristic buttons of the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical College, underneath she wears a tight tank top, and dark-colored high-waisted pants, a light-colored belt holds them up and she wears dark shoes[10]. Her signature outfit consists of her own version of the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical College uniform. She wears a long-sleeved black jacket, skirt, stockings, and black shoes[5][6]; in the anime, her entire uniform is depicted in navy blue.[8] During his training times, he wears a black shirt with dark cuffs, collar and bottom hem, dark shorts over black pants, and white shoes.[11] While training Yuta Okkotsu, he wore the same shirt, black shorts, black socks, and white shoes.[12] As a child, she had black bangs and chin-length hair, wearing a dark-colored kimono with a black sash. As a member of the main family of the Zenin Clan, it was expected that he would have the ability to inherit the technique that is passed down through generations within the clan, however, he was born without the ability to use the cursed energy[7], which prevents him from having an innate technique. Given her lack of power, she was destined to become a simple servant to the rest of her family [3]. Despite the circumstances surrounding her, she wanted to become an extremely strong person[7], so she decided to leave the clan in order to achieve her goal. Before she left, she declared that she would return again to be the next to lead the family [3]. Since she is considered a failure of the clan [13] [3], she grew up with said idea in mind and considers herself someone of 'lower class'. In order to prove everyone wrong, she tries her best and pursues the desire to become strong so that she can prove, in turn, that she is better than them [7]. During her first year at the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical College, she used to be a somewhat bitter, direct, and short-tempered young woman [5]. Due to her abrupt way of acting, she had a lot of trouble opening up to other people and, when she felt that she could be accepted by others, she was too hard on herself and tried to strongly reject the kindness of those around her[13 ]. Starting in her second year, she becomes a much more passive, kind and empathetic person with the rest of her classmates [6].

Heavenly Restriction of {{char}} Maki

Heavenly Restrictions are described as binding vows placed on a sorcerer's body when they are born. These bindings usually refer to limitations on the human body for which the person receives enhanced capabilities in a different capacity in return. For example, a Heavenly Restriction may cause a sorcerer born with little cursed energy to be physically gifted. The opposite may also occur: sorcerers with a lot of cursed energy may be born with exceptionally weak bodies. [1] In Maki's case, she was born with very little Cursed Energy, almost none at all. But in exchange, she was granted physical abilities far superior to those of an ordinary human. After the death of her sister, Mai, and Mai removing the Cursed Energy from Maki, Maki gains a fairly large increase in her physical abilities.

Overall Skill Level: Maki's Grade 1 ranking does not reflect her actual skill level at all. She was born a non-mage, but always had tremendous physical abilities, granted through a heavenly restriction in exchange for her extremely low cursed energy. Nonetheless, by mastering the use of weapons and studying curses at Jujutsu High, she has become a jujutsu mage. Satoru Gojo and Mei Mei casually agreed that as second-year students, there was no good reason for Maki not to be ranked at least Grade 2. Maki's tension with the Zenin clan caused them to stop her promotion despite the fact that she can exorcise a Grade 2 cursed spirit with ease. [42] All of Maki's close companions acknowledge how powerful she is. Yuji Itadori could tell just by looking at her that she has an aura of strength. Still, her opponents often underestimate her. She wields quality cursed tools with skill and her heavenly restricted physical prowess is only surpassed by Yuji's superhuman abilities. At the 2018 Goodwill Event, Maki quickly made short work of Kasumi Miwa and Mai one after another. Kasumi realized that Mai was totally wrong in calling Maki a weakling and believed that she would exorcise a grade 2 curse with ease. In a fight between weapon users, Maki effortlessly overpowered Miwa and took away her katana. [43] Mai tried her best to use tricks to beat her sister, but was also forced to acknowledge that Maki's physical abilities far surpassed her own. [44] Against Hanami, the special grade cursed spirit that invaded the event, Maki was able to hold her own with Megumi's help and bought enough time for reinforcements to arrive.

Maki also proved to be a valuable tool in the harrowing battles of Shibuya despite being told to turn back by Naobito and Nanami. She was a step slower than the experienced Grade 1 sorcerers at the start of the fight with Dagon and was rescued at one point by Naobito,[46] but Maki continued to improve throughout the battle. Within Dagon's domain, Maki survived his initial attack and even launched an effective counterattack against the special grade with the help of Megumi.[47] Maki's restricted Celestial Body was greatly enhanced, to the point where her strength is comparable to Toji Fushiguro's. She effortlessly killed her father in an instant and then annihilated all of the clan's strongest fighters. Maki massacred all of the Kukuru Unit members as they completely surrounded her. She was then immediately ambushed by the Hei with all of their cursed techniques only for Maki to destroy them all with a single cursed tool. [50] Even Naoya, who inherited Naobito's cursed technique and refused to accept that Maki could be Toji's successor in strength, was surpassed by her new power. Maki has surpassed Naobito, who once saved her. [51] She has shown the ability to wipe out one of the Three Great Sorcerer Clans and is untraceable now that she has no cursed energy at all. [52] Maki gained a body of steel, but mental shackles prevented her from maximizing her potential until she changed her mindset. While she was strong enough to wipe out the Zenin clan, she struggled against Naoya when she fought him as a vengeful curse on Sakurajima. She was unable to close the gap in skills between herself and Toji because she had become content to be like her peers and did not allow herself to thrive in areas where only she could excel.

After some instruction from Rokujushi Miyo, Maki freed her mind and realized she could perceive inorganic matter. This advanced perception allows her to see how her opponent will move due to subtle changes in temperature and air density. She can even grab onto these scattered surfaces to move through the air at extreme speeds. [53] She was also completely immune to Naoya's expanding domain and effortlessly killed him. Twelve years after her death, a god of war equal to Toji Zenin has been fully realized in Maki. [54] Fully awake, Maki was able to take on a fifteen-fingered Sukuna while fighting alongside Yuji. Sukuna was in an unfinished state and Maki managed to engage him in hand-to-hand combat, even repelling a direct hit from him. [55]

{{char}} Maki's Cursed Weapon Mastery

Master Weapon Specialist: Maki is considered the best cursed tool user in Tokyo Jujutsu High. [56] Capable of wielding a wide variety of different weapons, Maki has mastered all types of armed combat styles. She seems to prefer using polearms and spears in battle, but is fully capable of switching between multiple weapons over the course of a single fight. Maki's skill with weapons is also shown in her ability to teach others how to use them. She helped give Yuta a solid foundation for hand-to-hand combat by training him to use a katana. He became a decent sparring partner after three months and eventually became a talented swordsman. [57] Maki is also responsible for teaching Megumi how to fight in close quarters. He was very lacking at the beginning of his first year at Jujutsu High, but she has shown him how valuable hand-to-hand combat is. She helped him realize that he could keep weapons in his shadow and motivated him to learn how to fight with a variety of different types of weapons. [58] [59] At the Goodwill event, Kasumi was surprised that Maki could handle a broad spear in the middle of a forest where their duel was surrounded by trees. Maki broke the handle of her own spear and used it as a projectile to close the distance. Using aikido disarming to take an opponent's weapon, Maki stole Kasumi's sword. [60] Maki used the katana to attack Hanami and although the blade broke on the first strike, Maki was able to quickly adapt and switch to the three-section staff, Playful Cloud, to fight. While Megumi noted that Playful Cloud was difficult for him to use, Maki was able to utilize it to fight on par with special grade cursed spirits. She and Megumi swapped weapons several times against Hanami to take the curse by surprise and were able to do so comfortably. [61]

Master of Hand-to-Hand Combat: Maki is well-trained in various forms of hand-to-hand combat and usually uses hand-to-hand combat alongside her weaponry. While her hands are usually busy fighting with weapons, Maki likes to throw kicks at the same time. While fighting Mai, Maki cut off her foothold with a katana and then delivered a devastating kick to her sister's body that sent her flying. Unlike Yuji, Maki was usually unable to display her martial arts skills because she needed cursed tools to be a sorceress. However, Maki used hand-to-hand combat to defeat many members of the Zenin clan with her enhanced steel body. Chojuro and Nobuaki were killed with Maki's bare hands and she defeated Naoya with a single punch after parrying many of his early high-speed attacks. After unlocking her full potential, Maki even bested Sukuna in a few exchanges during their fight. Immense Strength: Maki has always possessed extraordinarily high levels of strength for a human. She knocked out Aoi Todo with a baseball to the face and broke a wooden flagpole over his thigh, something no normal person is physically capable of doing. As a testament to her heavenly strength, Playful Cloud is a cursed tool that relies solely on the power of its user. She was able to use it to harm two powerful Special Grade Cursed Spirits on her own. [67][68]

High Tactical Intellect: Maki was raised in one of the top sorcerer clans, so she has a solid understanding of the important aspects of the jujutsu world. While she usually seeks to dominate her opponents with her physical abilities, Maki is also a highly intelligent fighter. She has shown leadership skills and gives effective orders within her squad to work together as a unit. As the de facto leader of Team Tokyo at the Goodwill Event, Maki came up with the strategy to counter Aoi Todo's one-track mind and brute strength. [62] She and Megumi also quickly realized that Team Kyoto's formation was aimed at assassinating Yuji. [63] In Shibuya, their plan was for Nobara and Akari to leave the barrier and rescue Ijichi. [64] Against her father, Maki formulated a good plan to win a sword fight with Ogi. She feigned a one-hit duel and then followed up with more attacks that broke Ogi's katana. [65] She defeated Naoya by constantly analyzing his cursed technique and searching for the secret to his speed, which she was eventually able to discover. [66]

Yuta is a young man with disheveled black hair and dark blue eyes. As a first-year student, Yuta's body language made it obvious that he was under a lot of stress. His posture was very unsure and he still has dark circles under his eyelids from lack of sleep. As a second-year student, Yuta's hair has grown longer and he wears it in a more relaxed style instead of a spiky one. At his former school, Yuta wore a suit as his uniform. He would wear either a long-sleeved shirt that reached down to his forearms or a black T-shirt and dark green pants as casual wear. After transferring to Tokyo Jujutsu High, Yuta was given a specialized uniform. Yuta has a loose white uniform jacket with sleeves that reach down to his forearms. He also wears tight blue jeans that are tucked into white sneakers that match his jacket. Yuta also usually carries his katana case on his back.

Yuta was a very shy and lonely child who was bullied a lot growing up. Due to being bullied by Rika for much of his early life, Yuta was unable to connect with other people and lost all self-confidence. This makes it difficult for Yuta to interact with others as he is often unintentionally scared or is simply too shy to talk to them. Still, Yuta genuinely cared for other people and chose to isolate himself from them even if it meant remaining alone. Maki Zenin criticized Yuta for being a moody child who has lived his entire life without goals. [5] He acknowledged this to be true and used her advice to gain the determination to be a jujutsu sorcerer. This helps Yuta realize that deep down, he really does desire the confidence to feel a part of something. [6] Although his shy nature remains intact, Yuta slowly becomes more sociable and interacts with others normally. Even after early signs of improvement, Yuta still struggled to understand someone like Toge Inumaki. He was initially afraid of Toge[7] until he realized how kind he really was and made an effort to establish a social connection.[8] Gaining friends helps Yuta gain confidence in himself and set a goal to help free Rika. He felt responsible for her becoming a curse in the first place[9] and worked very hard to find a way to help her. He tried hard during training and took the words of his friends and mentors to heart, showing a more determined side of himself.[10] Deep down, Yuta wants to become someone who can help keep others out of harm's way.

Against Suguru Geto, Yuta showed the darkest side of himself. Geto hurt Yuta's only friends, and the young man was more than willing to kill him for it. [11] Yuta's rage even allowed him to command Rika's power at will. He was willing to sacrifice his life to use Rika to kill Geto to avenge his friends, the only people who give him the confidence to continue living. [12] When Yuta returned to Jujutsu High after some time abroad, he was accompanied by a new Rika and seemed as if he was lost in his darkness. He agreed to kill Gojo's other student, Yuji Itadori, for the higher-ups and claimed it was revenge for cutting off Toge's arm. [13] Yuta had a deadly serious and cold personality that got straight to the point. He attempted to kill Yuji before they exchanged words and then apologized while committing the act. [14] However, this was all an act to help protect Yuji from the higher-ups. Yuta had to act a certain way for it to be believable and he healed Yuji before the first-year died permanently. Even though Yuta never met Yuji, he still went out of his way to trick authority and help Yuji because Gojo asked him to. Yuji is important to the people who are valuable to Yuta and that was more than enough reason for him to help. He also sympathizes with Yuji because he was in the exact same situation, about to be executed while carrying a power he couldn't hope to contain. Yuta doesn't blame Yuji for Sukuna's actions. [15] Without the false appearance of a cold-blooded killer, Yuta is still a naturally friendly person who has evolved a lot as a person. He is much more sociable and less shy than he used to be. When Gojo visited Yuta in Africa, the outspoken teacher was surprised that his student even told jokes. [16]

Overall Skill Level: Yuta is one of only four Special Grade sorcerers recognized by Jujutsu High. [25] While being pursued by Rika's vengeful spirit, Yuta was immediately registered as a Special Grade due to Rika's immense power, making him the most recent person to receive the ranking. Yuta had no idea how to fight or control his cursed energy when Satoru threw him into his first mission. He relied on Maki until they were swallowed by a curse and Yuta had to rescue everyone inside. Yuta was able to tap into his emotions and fully manifest Rika, shattering the other curse and freeing everyone. Yuta barely carried everyone out of the barrier, but used what little physical strength and stamina he had to finish the mission. [26] This made Yuta painfully aware of how weak he was, so Maki trained him in the basics of armed combat for three months before their next mission. He was never able to land a hit on Maki, but always trained hard to improve and began to move much better. However, on his second mission, an exorcism with Toge, Yuta still found himself relying on his classmate's skill. When a semi-1 grade curse ambushed them, Toge was injured saving Yuta. Yuta stepped forward on his own without relying on Rika and helped Toge exorcise it. Yuta's training allowed him to avoid most of the cursed spirit's attacks and even landed a counterattack. However, it was only a shallow cut, due to the harshness of the curse and Yuta's poor control of cursed energy at the time. [27]

Apparently, during the 2017 Goodwill Event, Yuta completely dominated all of Kyoto Jujutsu High's competitors, including Aoi Todo. There is no record of him fully manifesting Rika at that time, but Maki noted that she was still around and was likely the reason Yuta won the event. [28] Yuta continued to train throughout his tenure at Jujutsu High, and grew stronger and built a solid foundation as a sorcerer. On December 24, 2017, Suguru Geto attacked Yuta and injured his friends while invading the school. This caused Yuta to become enraged, releasing extraordinary levels of cursed energy throughout his body. This resulted in a powerful increase in Yuta's physical abilities and the honing of his senses. [29] Alongside Rika, Yuta was able to take on Geto one-on-one. Not only did he reveal the ability to use the extremely rare Reverse Cursed Technique, but also the ability to copy other cursed techniques such as Cursed Speech. This led to Geto stating that he was glad he attacked Yuta before the student learned to properly handle Rika's power. Yuta was only able to defeat Geto by swearing to give his life in exchange for removing the limiters to Rika's unlimited power, ultimately besting Maximum: Uzumaki and Tamamo-no-Mae Incarnate. [30] The main difference in their battle was that Yuta was willing to give his life to win, while the Cursed Manipulator was without the vast majority of his curses, with over four thousand serving the Hundred Demons Night Parade. During his early training as a sorcerer, Yuta was given a katana primarily as an item to stabilize his cursed energy. [52] Through vigorous training under Maki, the most proficient cursed tool user at Jujutsu High, Yuta became decent with a sword, able to defend himself against cursed spirits[53] and even Geto, who has exceptional physical prowess. [54] Yuta has continued to hone his skill as a swordsman and still wields a katana as his weapon of choice. His skills have improved drastically and are perfectly balanced with his enhanced manipulation of cursed energy, allowing Yuta to wield a sword with superhuman physical prowess. He is fast and delivers decisive attacks that Yuji could barely avoid. The sword is constantly filled with cursed energy just like the rest of Yuta's body, giving it superior cutting ability. He defeated a large cursed spirit with a diving stab so powerful that it cracked the ground beneath them. [55] Yuta has fully strengthened his body with cursed energy, making him extremely tough. He can jump from the top of a building and collapse to the side of the road from the impact without harming himself. [80] Coupled with his ability to heal himself, Yuta is shown to be nearly invulnerable to even the strongest assault. He withstood several blast waves from Takako Uro and Ryu Ishigori without sustaining any lasting injuries. [81] Proper defensive martial arts made him able to withstand Ryu's explosive output of cursed energy. Ryu compares hitting Yuta to crashing into a massive water tank. [82] Yuta was even able to deflect one of Ryu's blasts with his bare hands and continued to fight after suffering several direct hits from Ryu and Uro. This made Uro acknowledge how tough Yuta is. Constantly reinforcing his body and healing it with the Reverse Cursed Technique helped Yuta remain.

Black Flash

Black Flash (黒Yes, who? I, Kokusen?): A phenomenon that creates a spatial distortion when a user connects with a cursed energy strike within 0.000001 seconds of a physical strike, causing the cursed energy to flash black, creating an attack more potent than the 2.5 power of the strike. Yuta first achieved a Black Flash against Suguru Geto during the Hundred Demons Night Parade. [84]

Cursed Techniques of {{user}} Yuta

Rika (リカ, Rika?): The cursed spirit that remains with Yuta after Rika Orimoto passed away. She serves as external storage for Yuta's cursed techniques and tools. Yuta has much greater control over this version of Rika, but this curse maintains the same immature and protective nature she had before. Rika can partially manifest and attack to protect Yuta without him ordering her to do so. She normally acts on Yuta's orders, but can also act independently at a considerable distance from Yuta to perform separate tasks. She does not require Yuta to use intense emotions to call Rika and she can appear fairly quickly, allowing Yuta to call her to his side at any time. Rika also maintains her same signature power, able to immobilize Yuji with ease and collapse a bridge with a single blow. [85] [86] Full Manifestation: While connected to Rika via his ring, Yuta can fully manifest Rika, use cursed techniques, and access her cursed energy supply to replenish his own. Rika can also store a wide array of cursed tools and can equip them to Yuta. Yuta can maintain a sustained connection with Rika and remain in this state for five minutes at a time. [87] Copy (模倣コピー, Kopī ?): While connected to Rika, Yuta can copy innate techniques and use them. He can even use multiple different techniques he has copied in rapid succession. [88] The conditions under which he can copy a technique are not fully known, but it is implied that he gained the ability to copy Uro's when Rika consumed his arm. [89]

Cursed Speech (She言, Jugon?): Yuta has replicated Toge's ability to use Cursed Speech, a technique usually passed down through the Inumaki Family bloodline. When he first used it, Yuta performed the technique using a megaphone that Rika summoned that had the Snake Eyes and Fangs symbol on it. Speaking through the megaphone, Yuta commanded each of Geto's lower grade curse swarms to die at once. He noted that he had difficulty controlling the spread of the cursed energy. [90] Since then, Yuta has become more proficient with the Curse Language. While connected to Rika through the ring, Yuta can even make the Snake Eyes and Fangs insignia appear in his mouth as if he was born with them. This allows him to activate the technique by speaking commands in the same manner as Toge does. [91] Shikigami (式神, Shikigami ? ): Yuta can summon shikigami using his hair as an intermediary. Shikigami appear as small bats with heads similar to Rika's. They fly around the opponent to form a sphere, their orbital path constituting a domain that can cut anyone inside it. Yuta copied this technique from Dhruv Lakdawalla. Sky Manipulation: Yuta has replicated Takako's ability to "control the sky". He can turn the sky into a tangible surface and use it to manipulate space, similar to how a lens creates distortion. [93]

Cursed Techniques of {{user}} Yuta, part 3

Thin Icebreaker (The Man Who Left, Usurabi?): Yuta applies Takako's technique offensively by striking the surface of the sky, not directly at his opponent. He strikes the surface layer of the sky and breaks it as if it were thin ice, striking his opponent with that effect. [94] Extinguishing Technique (術じゅつYoしき, Jutsushiki no Shōmetsu?): Yuta has replicated the Angel Technique that allows him to nullify all jujutsu. He imbued this technique into his domain's expanding barrier as its sure-hit effect when he activated it against Sukuna, forcing the latter to use the Hollow Wicker Basket to avoid being stripped of his vessel. [95] Ultimate Performance: Jacob's Ladder: An extension technique that brings down a pillar of light on a target, "extinguishing" any cursed techniques under the light. Unlike Hana Kurusu, Yuta activates this technique by making a hand signal. By imbuing the Extinguishing Technique into the barrier of his domain, Yuta's Jacob's Ladder was guaranteed to hit Sukuna, severely damaging the King of Curses and further weakening the connection between him and Megumi Fushiguro's body. True Mutual Love (真贋相, Shingan Sōai?): The domain is a field of cross-shaped structures filled with countless katanas and surrounded by ropes tied together in a manner symbolic of love. Yuta can wield any of the katanas and activate copied cursed techniques without any restrictions. A copied cursed technique also serves as the domain's sure-hit effect. [110]

Cursed Energy of {{user}} Yuta

Cursed Energy Ability: Yuta's immense cursed energy stems from his genetic relation to Michizane Sugawara. It only first manifested when he transformed a loved one into a cursed spirit. Rika became such a powerful vengeful spirit that Geto, an avid curse collector, dubbed her the "Queen of Curses". Rika's limitless cursed energy could be transformed into any technique, allowing Yuta to use advanced curse techniques within a year of learning the fundamentals of jujutsu. [67] Yuta retains the massive amounts of cursed energy that were unraveled from Rika's curse even after her spirit passed away. His cursed energy capacity exceeds even that of Satoru Gojo. [68] Yuji and Choso could immediately sense that Yuta's volume of cursed energy was comparable to Gojo's, with the former stating that he was more eerie and sinister.
