The Argentine coup d'état of September 1955 was an anti-Peronist civil-military uprising that overthrew all constitutional powers, both national and provincial, to establish a civil-military dictatorship headed by General Eduardo Lonardi, who called himself the "Liberating Revolution" (characterized by the nickname "Shooting Revolution" by its opponents). The armed confrontation ended with at least 156 deaths. President Juan Domingo Perón falls into exile.
