Demon Extermination Corps

Demon Extermination Corps was an organization that existed for over 1000 years, dedicated to protecting humanity from Demons. It was founded by the Ubuyashiki Family over 1000 years ago because, after one of its members became a demon, the entire family was cursed and all newborns died shortly after birth. The priests advised them to commit their lives to killing the demon and in this way, the Ubuyashiki family name could continue to exist for many more years. Since then, the organization was founded and was led for hundreds of generations by members of the Ubuyashiki Family. The organization was composed of hundreds of Demon Slayers and was never recognized by the government. Its ninety-seventh leader was Kagaya Ubuyashiki and after his death, Kiriya Ubuyashiki became the ninety-eighth leader until the organization's dissolution.

Structure

To join: To become a Demon Slayer, an individual had to be able to pass the Final Selection, a test used as an entrance exam to join the Extermination Corps. During this selection, a group of people had to survive on a Demon-infested mountainside without any outside help for 7 nights.

equipment

Students who passed the exam were given the following equipment: Uniform: The characteristic uniform of the Demon Hunters that was created with a light and special fabric that allowed them to be protected from air, humidity and fire, even the claws and teeth of a demon would not be enough to destroy the fabric with which it was created. Nichirin Sword: A special cutting weapon that was used and made specifically for the Extermination Corps to kill demons. They were forged from a unique mineral that constantly absorbed sunlight, one of the demons' greatest weaknesses. Kasugai Crow. These were birds used by members of the Extermination Corps, mainly for communication through notes or to inform hunters about new missions, among other things.

Ranks

The Extermination Corps had a total of ten ranks. From the lowest rank to the highest, these ranks were: Mizunoto→Mizunoe→Kanoto→Kanoe→Tsuchinoto→Tsuchinoe→Hinoto→Hinoe→Kinoto→Kinoe. Once a Demon Slayer was fully established in the organization, they were given the lowest rank: Mizunoto. They had to complete a variety of missions to reach the highest rank a hunter could obtain: Kinoe.

Salary

As the missions given to them were completed, those occupying the lowest rank, the Mizunoto, were paid approximately 200,000 yen. Unlike them, the Pillars were paid as much as they wanted.

Members

Pillars: _Within the Demon Extermination Corps, there is a group of elites, known as the Nine Pillars. This group is made up of the nine most powerful fighters in the organization. In order to join the Pillars, a Demon Slayer must successfully kill 50 Demons or kill a member of the Twelve Demon Moons, a group of the most powerful Demons in existence who serve directly under the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji. Tsuguko: _A Tsuguko is a highly talented Demon Slayer who has been designated as the successor to one of the Nine Pillars, should that Pillar retire or die. To become a Tsuguko, a Demon Slayer can either apply and be accepted, or be scouted by one of the current Pillars. Kakushi: _The Kakushi are a civilian part of the organization since they are not combatants but are responsible for providing first aid to the hunters after a major battle, as well as taking the wounded to receive proper medical care, they are also messengers, tailors and cooks who can provide lodging at the bases. Butterfly Mansion: _It is the scientific section of the Extermination Group led by Shinobu Kocho that serves as a laboratory, hospital, training place and rehabilitation of wounded hunters. Blacksmiths: _Although they are not official members per se, they are the ones who forge and provide the Nichirin Swords that the Hunters use to exterminate, they are characterized by wearing Hyottoko masks of many expressions, the blacksmiths and the hunters are like a symbiotic relationship because the Hunters need their services to have new swords in case they wear out or break in exchange for protection since they do not fight, to avoid demon attacks their village has to be hidden making that to go there you have to blindfold them and cover their ears (and nose in case of good smell) making that only a few people know of their exact location.

Butterfly Mansion

The Butterfly Mansion - also known as the Butterfly Estate - is a large mansion owned by Kanae Kochō, Shinobu Kochō, their Tsuguko, Kanao Tsuyuri, and their assistants Aoi Kanzaki, Sumi Nakahara, Kiyo Terauchi, and Naho Takada. The mansion is also used by Demon Slayers who are injured in combat as a hospital to recover from their injuries after a battle with a Demon, and as a scientific research center to study all biological aspects of Demon physiognomy and anatomy. History: _Most of the mansion's medical duties are handled by Shinobu Kochō, and the Kakushi can often be seen occupying the dwelling and are usually seen running errands or assisting Demon Slayers who are injured in battle. Above the Kakushi, there is a group of inhabitants who are not Demon Slayers, but offer training regiments to ease the recovery process and help injured Demon Slayers get back into top physical condition. For example, Aoi Kanzaki creates a training regiment meant to help Tanjiro Kamado, Inosuke Hashibira, and Zenitsu Agatsuma recover after their battles at Mount Natagumo.

Skills

Physical abilities: _All Pillars and some of the lower-ranking Hunters have enhanced strength, speed, stamina, agility, joint mobility, and resistance to injury; all to superhuman levels. Specific abilities for certain individuals include unconscious combat, ever-present rage, unique muscular composition, enhanced senses, and extrasensory perception. Senses Some assassins have naturally enhanced senses, which they use in combination with existing breathing styles or develop new breathing styles (such as the Sound Breathing style).

Demons

Demons (鬼, Oni?) are or were once humans who were infected by the blood of Muzan Kibutsuji.

Demon Information(1#)

Origin: _Its origin dates back to the Heian Period, during which there was a man named Muzan Kibutsuji who suffered from a serious and mysterious illness that would end his life once he turned twenty. Frustrated and seeing that there was no possible cure for his recovery, Muzan murdered the doctor responsible for his care before he could complete his recovery through the use of a plant known as the Blue Spider Lily. Soon after, Muzan realized that the treatment had worked, prolonging his life, albeit at the cost of his humanity. He soon regretted killing the doctor, as he discovered that becoming a Devil no longer allowed him to be exposed to sunlight, as he would burn to death, and the only way to overcome sunlight was to consume the medicine created from said plant. However, despite traveling all over Japan to find the plant, he was never able to find it. Obsessed with walking under the sun once more and ridding himself of his weakness, Muzan has made it his life's goal to find the Blue Spider Lily, but was unsuccessful, so Muzan continued to create Devils with his blood, so that they can help him find it. Creation: _Demons are not born naturally, except for Muzan, who was the first demon to be born as a result of the medicine created from the Blue Spider Lily. Most members of the race reproduce by turning a human through exposure to the blood of a very strong demon; only Muzan and his two best upper demon moons, Doma and Kokushibo have been shown to possess this ability. People resistant to demon blood do exist, however, they are very rare. Tamayo was also able to turn a human into a demon, albeit through science rather than blood sharing, however this method is not as efficient as it took him two hundred years to develop, and was put into practice only once. Yushiro was also able to demonize Chachamaru through an unknown means. It should be noted that its creation is not mystical, but rather a biological process achieved through substances, suggesting that Muzan's blood and the medicine created from the Blue Spider Lily have mutagenic properties. As demonstrated by Muzan pouring blood into a civilian, the process is done at a cellular level, where if the mutation is too drastic, the victim's cells that cannot withstand the change will be destroyed leaving only ashes.

Restoration: _It has been proven that the process of transformation from human to Demon can be reversed. Although it is not generally known, a Demon's transformation is not permanent and can, in fact, be reversed. Tamayo developed a drug that can reverse demonization after hundreds of years of research using the blood of many strong Demons for testing. The drug's effectiveness seems to depend on the target, as a Demon as powerful as Muzan was able to resist its effects and remain demonized, although he is known to have put in massive biological effort to do so. General characteristics: _Demons have a number of characteristics that allow them to be quickly distinguished. _The victim who cannot resist the transformation or receives too much blood from Muzan, dies when all their cells are burned. They are the result of an infection caused by a component present in Muzan Kibutsuji's blood that affects living beings, humans or animals. Muzan can create demons when he injects his blood into a human. _Creation may fail if the human's cells cannot withstand the mutation. As a result, they will end up dying on the spot. _When a human is transformed into a demon, he will automatically lose all his memories of his current life, developing a predatory killer instinct, becoming a totally crazed being and focused solely on devouring humans; in some cases, infected humans retain some memories of their previous life, but in a completely twisted and dark version of themselves; however when a demon is killed, before dying, he will remember some moments of his life when he was human.

Feeding: _Demons are vampire-like creatures that feed on human flesh and blood in order to satisfy their eternal and insatiable hunger from the moment they cease to be human. _By devouring humans, demons gain sustenance, being able to increase their power the more humans they eat. With the increase in their power, demons gain greater intelligence, becoming more dangerous, being able to generate new body parts and also gaining unique abilities based mainly on the control of their own blood, as is the case with the group of the Twelve Demonic Moons, which occurs if they receive a greater amount of blood from Muzan. Appearance: _The appearance they possess is quite varied. The changes they undergo after the transformation differ from one demon to another, since some can still maintain certain traits from their days as humans to a certain extent, while others obtain monstrous characteristics. _Usually, their physical appearance is that of a person with pale skin, with eyes similar to those of a feline and some protuberances emerging from their bodies like horns, their ears becoming pointed and the color of their hair in some cases is radically modified as well as the color and structure of their eyes. _They can radically change their appearance as time passes, this is possible if they ingest a large number of humans or whenever Muzan shares more of their blood. Longevity: _Demons are immortal creatures, able to live practically for centuries without fear of death, but they are not exempt from possessing weaknesses that can kill them. However, they absolutely detest sunlight, which is their main weakness since it is deadly for them, so at the slightest contact with sunlight, their bodies burn to ashes, which is why they only move at night. Enemies: _They are hunted by members of the Demon Extermination Corps, which is a group of people who have fought against Demons for centuries and are their mortal enemies. They possess numerous refined techniques to combat them. _In order to survive from hunters, they tend to live hidden from humanity, taking advantage of the fact that most humans are unaware of their existence. Thanks to this, some demons have been able to camouflage themselves within human society as a way of hiding from their pursuers and also to be able to access their prey more easily.

How they work to hunt: _Demons are often solitary hunters who behave in an extremely territorial manner, often engaging in violent disputes over the right to maintain their hunting grounds. However, there are rare cases where Demons work together to hunt humans. Progenitor: _They are mostly connected to their progenitor, Muzan Kibutsuji, who through a series of curses can read their minds, witness what they see and discern their location, and even destroy them remotely, operating as the master mind of a large hive of the species. _All demons pledge obedience to Muzan, who uses fear and manipulation to gain their loyalty. Those who reveal any information about him will die immediately. _Muzan's control over his progeny is not omnipotent, as a Demon with a strong will can, in fact, break his bond with Muzan, rendering him immune to his curses and undetectable by him.

Skills:

Demons feed on humans, increasing their power and developing stronger abilities the more humans they eat. These abilities are often varied and allow the Demon to defy the laws of conventional physics, altering the weather to their liking or creating alternate realities, to name a few examples. However, some Demons have a limit to how many humans they can eat to become stronger, and might not be compatible with a larger amount of Muzan's blood. Muzan's own blood also has special properties that can strengthen a Demon, proportional to the amount of blood infused. However, the blood is dangerously toxic in higher concentrations and can force a mutation on the recipient's body far beyond what it can withstand, causing death, but, if they are acclimated through the process that is shown to be unbearably painful for high doses, their strength will grow tremendously. The demons' own abilities are: _Immortality: They can live for centuries without showing any visible changes in their body such as wrinkles or graying hair, maintaining the appearance they had when they were humans, generally being young people. Their immortality can vary greatly as long as they eat humans and increase their power. _Regeneration: One of the main characteristics of Demons is their extensive regeneration capacity; any kind of wound that could result in death in a human is treated as a minor scratch by Demons. Depending on a Demon's level of strength, their regeneration speed will vary. _Superhuman physical abilities: Demons become quite physically strong, allowing them to easily subdue their human prey. They also have a sudden increase in their speed and endurance. _Demonic Blood Techniques: These are a kind of special spells that Demons who have devoured a considerable amount of humans can cast from their blood. The techniques and their functions vary from Demon to Demon. Rui, for example, can create thin and resistant spider webs and Daki can create special sashes.

Weaknesses

_Sunlight: Demons being vampiric creatures can be killed if exposed to direct sunlight as solar radiation directly affects the Demons' cells, nullifying their regeneration and causing their bodies to burn to ashes. The only Demons who have been able to withstand sunlight are Nezuko and Tanjiro[10]. However, Demon Hunters have been able to create effective combat methods against these creatures so as not to depend directly on the sun. Weapons _Nichirin: Nichirin Weapons are typically swords or other bladed weapons forged from Crimson Iron Sand and Crimson Ore. By using Nichirin Weapons which are bathed in sunlight to directly attack a Demon to severely injure and kill it; simply decapitating a Demon is enough to disconnect its central core that controls its body and eliminate it. However, Demons such as Muzan, Kokushibo or Akaza have been able to resist decapitation. Nichirin Weapons also have special qualities such as turning red hot when colliding with each other which gives them the ability to neutralize the enhanced regeneration of stronger Demons. _Wisteria Flowers: Wisteria is a plant that is harmful and deadly to Demons as it releases an aroma that Demons cannot tolerate and is the most effective way to scare away these creatures. The Wisteria flower can be used as a weapon to mix its components and make poisons that are extremely deadly to lower-level Demons. This biological weapon played an important role in the death of Douma, the number two Upper Moon-ranked Demon.

Pillars Information

_The Pillars are the nine most powerful swordsmen among the Demon Slayers, led by Kagaya Ubuyashiki, being a vital part of the Demon Slayer Corps. Each one possesses a distinct type of breathing style that they were able to perfect by training to death. _The pillars are constantly searching for a Tsuguko (継つぐ子こ,?), a successor, to take their place when they die or retire. Each one has an assigned region to protect, they must also gather information about demons and improve their techniques or develop new ones. Due to their busy schedule, they only dedicate their time to training their tsuguko. _To apply for tsuguko, one must be accepted or recruited by a Pillar. They usually take a hunter with a similar breathing style as their successor, but there is also the possibility that they recruit one with a completely different style. _It is said that in order to ascend to Pillar, one must undergo arduous training, which usually takes five years for an ordinary person. However, those with great talents are able to do so in two years. Also, as a requirement, one must defeat one of the Twelve Demonic Moons. Likewise, a Hunter can become a Pillar if he kills fifty Demons.

Tomioka's clothing

As a characteristic clothing, he used the regulatory attire of the Demon Extermination Corps, also wearing a Haori divided into two colors, one red, which belonged to his sister and one in the form of geometric patterns of green, orange and yellow; this last pattern is a reminder of her friendship with Sabito.

Tomioka's personality

Giyu had a reserved personality and always wore a serious expression on his face. He was shown to have a strong sense of justice with no tolerance for those who do not know their own limitations and waste their lives. Although he held a deep hatred towards demons and never hesitated to kill one, he was able to go against the rules of the Demon Slayer Corps by protecting Nezuko Kamado upon realizing that she might be different from the rest of the demons and even agreed to sacrifice his life for the sake of her and her brother, Tanjiro Kamado by committing sepukku if the young woman ate a human. This implied that he did not completely despise demons like the rest did, and was willing to make an exception by letting them live if they did not kill or eat humans, proving in turn that he was the most pragmatic when dealing with demons instead of hating them like the rest of the hunters did. He was someone who didn't talk much and seemed to have trouble interacting with others, which is why he kept his distance from his peers. After having the opportunity to interact with those around him, he wanted to improve his relationship with the rest of the Pillars. His distant attitude was due to the fact that he developed a strong inferiority complex since his participation in the Final Selection, which made him a more severe person; this affected him to the point of wanting to abandon his position as Water Pillar.

Basic information about Mitsuri Kanroji

Mitsuri is 19 years old- Her height is 1.67 cm- She weighs 56 kg (123 lb)- Her birthday is June 1st- Her gender is female.

Mitsuri appearance

_Mitsuri was a young woman of average height, fair skin and slim build with a curvy and voluptuous figure. She had large eyes of a peculiar lime green and also had two moles located parallel below her cheekbones, much of the time her cheeks were blushed. She had pink hair with a green gradient that extended to the lower parts, it was quite long and she usually used to wear it tied in three braided pigtails; the pigtails located to the left and right fell in front of her shoulders while the braid in the center fell down her back. Her bangs were divided into three parts similar to the location of her braided pigtails, part of her bangs were located on each side of her face and in the center fell a few thin strands.

Mitsuri's outfit

_Her signature outfit consisted of her customized version of the Demon Extermination Corps members' attire. She wore a white shirt and a black jacket slightly tinted pink, both unbuttoned due to her large breasts, leaving a plunging neckline visible, she wore a short black skirt also with a light pink color on the lower parts, which she held in place with a white leather strap where she carried her Nichirin Sword. She also wore a white long-sleeved haori and a pair of navy blue thigh-high socks that were covered with another pair of green striped knee-high socks along with pink lace-up Japanese sandals.

Mitsuri's personality

_Mitsuri was a cheerful, passionate and kind young woman. She sometimes tended to get nervous and scared easily, and she was not good at enduring insults from others. She loved to love others, probably this was related to her title as the Pillar of Love. After joining the Demon Extermination Corps, she revealed that her reason for joining was because she wanted to find a man who was stronger than her, which she considered difficult due to her superhuman strength.

Obanai Iguro

Iguro is 21 years old- His height is 1.62 cm- He weighs 53 kg (117 lb)- His birthday is September 15- His gender is male.

Iguro's appearance

_Obanai is a man of medium height with cream-colored skin, black hair and heterochromia: his left eye is turquoise and his right eye is yellow. His hair is long, combed in such a way that it seems to be cut in flat extensions, with a fringe divided in two in the middle of his forehead into two thick locks; another characteristic feature of the character is that his mouth is covered in bandages which hides his facial expressions. This is because during his childhood, Obanai's mouth was cut from the corners to the height of his ears to make it look like that of a snake, leaving him with a horrible wound that he hides under his bandages.

Iguro's outfit

_As for his clothing, Obanai wears the characteristic uniform of Demon Hunters with Hakama pants held together with a pair of white cloths around the ankles, which he complements with a white Haori with wide and long sleeves which is embroidered with horizontal and vertical black stripes. Over his shoulders and coiled around his neck, he carries with him a white snake named Kaburamaru which is his pet and wears black stockings and blue zori sandals.

Iguro's personality

Obanai is a very harsh and strict person who shows no concern for those who do not abide by the Demon Slayers' rules. His expectations for his fellow Slayers are almost unrealistic, scolding Tengen Uzui for sustaining serious injuries against the "weaker" Upper Moon and telling him to "fight to the death" when Tengen insists on retreating. Tengen's retirement also highlights Obanai's devotion to the future of the Demon Slayer Corps, often at the expense of others, such as when he ties up lower-ranking Slayers and uses them as obstacles during Hashira training for relatively petty reasons. He also views new recruits as weak and incapable of improvement, expressing surprise when Tengen informs him that Tanjiro Kamado survived the battle with Daki and Gyutaro.

Sanemi Shinazugawa

Sanemi is 21 years old- His height is 1.79 cm- He weighs 75 kg (165 lb)- His birthday is November 29th- His gender is male.

Sanemi Appearance

_He is a man of average height, with a fair complexion and grey eyes. He has a sharp look and no eyebrows, his hair is a warm grey which he keeps short. His bangs are parted parallel to his forehead in two thick locks, one in the centre and the other on the left side of his head. One of Sanemi's most prominent features is his remarkable physique and the numerous scars that run across his face, chest and arms which he does not hide and keeps as a reminder of how hard his job is and of which he is proud.

Sanemi's clothing

_Regarding his attire, this consists of the Demon Slayers' uniform, being in his case a customized version of his uniform which is black dyed green, having the upper part of it unbuttoned, exposing his torso and his multiple scars. He also has a white jacket, as well as keeps his Nichirin sword on his belt. The latter in turn holds his Hakama which is held on each of his ankles thanks to two pairs of thick straps. Later between the arcs of the Functional Recovery Training Arc and the Pillar Training Arc, Sanemi cut his hair leaving only the center bangs.

Sanemi Personality

_Sanemi is abrasive, passionate, reckless, and stubborn, often impulsive and quick to attack. He is usually indifferent towards others and can become angry very easily. The only person Sanemi ever showed reverence to was Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and this was only after realizing that the man was much more than his outward appearance suggested. Sanemi has also shown a hunger for battle, wishing to be able to meet the Demons that are part of the Twelve Demonic Moons and proclaiming his eagerness in fighting Kokushibo, the Upper First Moon.

Gyomei Himejima

Gyomei is 27 years old- His height is 2.20 cm- He weighs 130 kg (287 lb)- His birthday is August 23- His gender is male.

Gyomei's appearance

Gyomei was a man of stocky and muscular appearance. He was one of the tallest characters in the series, standing over two meters tall and the oldest of all the members that make up the Pillars group and by extension the most experienced. He had short black hair with a thick scar that ran horizontally along his forehead, this scar being the result of his confrontation with the Demon that murdered the children under his care. He did not have irises, mainly because he was blind and these, most of the time, filled with tears when he was in an emotional situation.

Gyomei's clothing

_His signature attire consisted of the classic attire of the Demon Extermination Corps members. His outfit did not have any visible customization except for the fact that he used thick bandages to hold his Hakama in place like pants. He did not wear socks with his Zori sandals that had thick green strings, keeping the sleeves of his jacket gathered up to show off his thick, strong arms. He also wore a long-sleeved, white-edged green Haori which had Buddhist Sanskrit written on each side and printed on the back (in the manga) in a clear allusion to his religiosity. He used to wear a necklace of thick red beads around his neck and was constantly seen holding prayer beads whenever he was not in battle.

Gyomei's personality

Gyomei was a very religious person and could often be seen frequently reciting the Amitabha mantra in situations that saddened him and offering prayers to the people around him. Most of the time he remained calm, kind and very emotional. He often cried in all kinds of situations. _Despite his personality of few words and tendencies to get emotional to the point of tears, Gyomei had an objective and doubtful viewpoint on the people around him; being fully aware of the chances that others, particularly children or those younger than him, might do when given a chance. Due to his experience before becoming a Demon Slayer, it had further reinforced his quietly doubtful nature to the point that it took a while for him to fully accept people; but once he accepted those around him, he would reject even what others would say about them, fully believing in the person he accepted.

Right Uzui

Uzui is 23 years old- His height is 1.98 cm- He weighs 95 kg (209 lb)- His birthday is October 31st- His gender is male.

Uzui's appearance

_Tengen was a very tall, burly man, of bulky and muscular build with slightly tanned skin. His hair was white and of uneven length, the longest strands reaching his shoulders and styled with three shorter, noticeable strands that arched to fall like bangs between his eyes and on either side of his face. He had very thin, fuchsia-colored eyes that seemed to slant inward, each with a long eyelash that flowed to the other side of his face.

Uzui's clothing

During his days in the Demon Slayer Corps, Tengen wore a customized version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, which featured a black dyed turquoise hue along with a burgundy cloth wrap around his calves where his hakama pants fastened and white sandals. He also wore two thick, golden rings around his upper arms and what appeared to be a pair of blue fingerless gloves, secured around his middle finger with a white band and his wrists with another set of thinner golden rings, this time with two on each side. In addition to this, Tengen sported a white wrap that covered his hair, leaving only a thin ponytail visible that fell behind his head between his layers, which was adorned with a large, pale grey headband that was decorated with six light pink gemstones, three large and arranged in a line, and three small and arranged in a triangle on the far left. A chain of smaller pale blue gemstones hangs from each side of this headdress, framing her face, and she also wore what appeared to be red eye makeup around her left eye, consisting of alternating large and small dots running inward toward her eye.

Uzui's personality

Tengen was a very eccentric person, always wanting to complete his actions in an "extravagant" way, and getting excited when some situation or person met those characteristics. He considered himself a superior being, calling himself "God" multiple times, which complemented his arrogance and self-centeredness well. [6] He could be inconsiderate and insensitive, as seen when he tried to take Aoi Kanzaki against her will to fulfill the mission in the entertainment district, but he also had a caring side that he only showed mainly towards those he cared about the most, especially his three wives, Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru.
