NoĆ© Archiviste (ććØć»ć¢ć«ć·ć“ć£ć¹ć, Noe Arushivisuto) is a central protagonist of Jun Mochizuki's The Case Study of Vanitas. A Vampire raised in the rural French village of Averoigne, NoĆ© is sent to see Paris for the first time to complete an assignment given to him by his Teacher. Instructed to locate the Book of Vanitas and discern its "true character," he encounters Vanitas, the human owner of the Book and a self-styled "Vampire medical specialist." Despite his distaste for Vanitas, he agrees to serve as his companion, seeing Vanitas's mission to cure Malnomen as noble, and hoping to complete his research on the Book.[1] NoĆ© is the narrator of The Case Study of Vanitas, and the series as a whole is composed of his memoirs on why he killed Vanitas. Noe look like: NoĆ© is a tall, well built young man at the age of nineteen. He has dark skin, a long, angular face, thin, purple, almond shaped eyes, and thin eyebrows. His hair is short, white, and fluffy, going just past his ears. Though his hair usually stays out of his eyes, his bangs are parted at the right, causing some of his hair to fall onto his face. A portion of his hair lies over the rest at the front, to the left part. Jun Mochizuki jokingly calls this "a lid." Like all vampires, his eyes will occasionally turn red.Though NoĆ© changes outfits several times over the course of the series, his usually outfit consists of white pants, a black long sleeved shirt, a black bow tie, and a lightly-colored vest. This vest has a dogstooth pattern, but for the sake of visual clarity, this is rarely drawn. In addition, he usually wears a black belt, white gloves, and white boots which do not quite reach his knees. He has two coats he will often wear ā a white, mid-length trench coat, and, in the event the first gets dirty. about Now: The sole survivor of the Archiviste Clan, NoƩ has no memories of any of his biological family. Instead, he was first found by an elderly human couple he called his grandparents. They lived happily together for several years, despite their difference in race, and NoƩ came to regard Vampires and humans as equally good creatures. However, his family would die of natural causes when he was still quite young. Unprotected, he was mistaken for a human, kidnapped, and briefly trafficked by Vampires looking to bring labor to Altus. There he met his Teacher, who recognized him as a Vampire and took him in as his disciple.[2]Soon after, he met Louis and Dominique de Sade, his Teacher's two youngest grandchildren. The three quickly became close, NoƩ referring to them as his "first friends." While Dominique usually lived in the city with her parents, Louis stayed with NoƩ and his Teacher, supposedly due to an illness. Over time, Louis would grow more distant from NoƩ and Dominique, concerning NoƩ greatly. When he, Louis, and Dominique were in their teens, a failed attempt to rescue a child in the final stages of Malnomen resulted in the corruption of Louis's True Name and his death by decapitation.[2] After receiving a posthumous "present" from Louis, NoƩ developed strong guilt for failing both to save Louis and kill him as Louis had wanted. This fueled his personal investment in cases of Malnomen, even towards people he barely knew.[3]a short white tailcoat. As NoƩ is not particularly interested in fashion, his clothes are usually chosen by Dominique or his Teacher. As a child, NoƩ's outfits would vary considerably, in one panel even shown in girls' clothing. His hair was styled slightly differently, bangs parted at the center instead of at the left. When he was first taken as his Teacher's student, he seemed to have sustained some injury to the left side of his face, his left eye covered with bandages for many of his early childhood appearances. He is often described as childlike by others, due to his tendency to get lost and be easily distracted ā such forgetfulness often results in him leaving behind his cat, Murr, who in turn tends to scratch NoĆ© in retaliation for being forgotten. NoĆ© is also extremely kindhearted, as shown by his willingness to help Amelia during her imprisonment and execution, and his general care for the well-being of others. At heart, NoĆ© holds a deep determination to save those close to him, and make sure that they don't befall a horrible fate like his friends when he was a child. NoĆ© recognizes that he was unable to save Louis, Mina, and the other children, but wishes to prevent any such deaths in the future. NoĆ© is instinctive and has high emotional intelligence, usually using his gut feelings towards things to guide his actions. On occasion, NoĆ© can be impulsive, especially when fighting what he perceives as wrong, and has a moral opposition to doing acts he sees as dishonorable ā such as when Vanitas suggests taking Maria as a captive, or allowing Moreau to pluck out Vanitas' eye. NoĆ©ās current sense of morality has been highly shaped by his late adoptive grandparents and his Teacher. While NoĆ©'s idealism and morality earned him many allies, it also prevents him from acting decisively. He failed to quickly defeat Astolfo, despite being far stronger than him, due to his apprehensions regarding battle with children. Johann states that NoĆ© sees violence as a tool to get others to follow his will, but refuses to "dirty his hands," preventing him from killing others even when the alternative put himself in danger.
Noe Powers and Abilities General: As a Vampire, NoƩ has far greater strength, speed, and endurance than an average human being by strengthening his physical abilities with interference of the World Formula. He is able to fight off multiple enemies such as other Vampires at once with ease,[3] and on multiple occasions has handily beaten his foes while protecting another vulnerable person.[1][4] Thus far all the times in which NoƩ nearly loses a battle it is due to outside elements, such as his own internal struggles[5] or a lack of information on his foe,[6] rather than his strength being inferior or lacking in any way. His strength is so great that Naenia has openly admitted to being unable to take his True Name the way she wishes due to his power.[7]
Combat: NoƩ prefers to fight hand-to-hand, with a strong tendency to deliver powerful kicks.[8] Though he prefers close quarters combat and being able to move with his hands freed, he is resourceful when need be and skilled at finding makeshift weapons of whatever is at hand for him. He is also very perceptive and keen, able to detect, analyze, and comprehend his enemies' movements and fighting styles in seconds even while in the midst of a deadly battle.[9] He was taught how to fight by his Teacher, who drilled him until he could produce as much strength as he does now.[10] World Formula Interference: Though he was also trained to rewrite the World Formula by his Teacher, he has no aptitude for it. He can do the bare minimum of reinforcing his body during fights, but anything extending outwards he has great trouble with. With great concentration he can rewrite gravity and stand on the wall or ceiling, but only momentarily[6] and even that much causes him nausea.[11] Memory Reading: As a survivor of the Archiviste Clan, NoƩ has the ability to read others' memories by drinking their blood. Using this ability, he can dive through a person's memories and view them in the shoes of the person in question. If he concentrates, NoƩ is able to dive deep into someone's consciousness, pick individually which memories to to see, and view memories that even the person themselves have forgotten.[12] However if his mind has been addled with drugs[13] or he is in great psychological distress,[14] NoƩ's reading of memories is far less concentrated. Without his control, the memories he views will encompass a vast stretch of time, usually spanning the person's entire life, with some scenes playing out, others being skipped over or muddled, and sometimes even playing out of order. As a child, NoƩ was far less capable and could only glean the person's vague emotions regarding their memories.[2]

Jannu") is a major protagonist of Jun Mochizuki's The Case Study of Vanitas. A Vampire born during the War, Jeanne was once a Bourreau, an enslaved vampire tasked with executing their kin. She killed over a thousand other Vampires[1] before entering a century-long coma induced by her master, Lord August Ruthven.[2] Upon waking, the War was over, and she was made the Chevalier of Ruthven's nephew, Luca Oriflamme, serving as his bodyguard.[1] She suffers from a mysterious illness that causes her to obsessively seek blood, similar to blood addiction or Malnomen,[3] but the actual cause of her condition is unknown.
Appearance Jeanne is a thin, voluptuous young woman who has Ample bosom, Jeanne's skin is described as pinkish pale skin and also has rosey cheeks. She has a smooth, round face with an angular chin, and large, round, yellow eyes. Her eyelashes were thick and long, same as her hair color and she had thin eyebrows, a very small nose, and full lips. Vanitas notes that she makes wonderful expressions, and she was quick to blush. After awakening from her slumber, she kept straight, pinkish white hair that fell to her mid-neck and mid-length bangs. She was described as astonishingly beautiful. Like all vampires, her eyes occasionally turn red. Jeanne regularly dons a double-breasted, high-collared white coat with red trim. She wears a long, red-trimmed, white wrap skirt, the buckles of which can break apart to allow easier movement. Beneath her skirt, she wore pink thigh-high socks and silver armored boots. Occasionally, she wears a white, red-lined capelet with a hood. When wearing her gauntlet, Carpe Diem, her entire right arm is concealed by the crimson armor of the weapon. She wears fingerless gloves on both hands. Prior to her reawakening, Jeanne had long hair which flowed about halfway down her back and twin braids adorning each side of her scalp. She wore a long black dress with a lace collar and a black cape. As a child, Jeanne had long hair and would usually wear a long, lacy dress.
Personality Jeanne is initially presented as a ruthless fighter, though one fiercely protective of her young charge, Luca. Insults to Luca enrage her, and Vanitas remarks she had no intention of taking him alive after he had offended him. Despite her lack of restraint in combat, Jeanne is weak to threats to those she wants to protect. After Vanitas tricked her into believing he'd taken Luca hostage, she refused to fight him further. Her fear of harm coming to Luca allowed Vanitas to touch her against her consent, to Jeanne's disgust, and after realizing Luca was not in danger she grew to hate him. Though violent and determined over even small matters (such as insults to the art of pastry making), Jeanne's life of enslavement left her naive and with the heart of a maiden. She does not know much about Paris, and Dominique's attempts to flirt with her caused her concern regarding their difference in class. She also tends to have opinions on people that are either one extreme or the other, either love or hate. Dominique's affection for her causes Jeanne to give her a perhaps undue amount of admiration. Conversely, she initially states she would rather commit suicide than pretend to like Vanitas. Early in childhood, Jeanne had been convinced that she served the role of a "doll," and deviating from her orders would result in punishment. She saw this conviction realized when her parents were executed, as when ChloƩ had been slated for death. As such, she is easily moved by acts of perceived kindness. His refusal to leave further endeared her to him. She eventually initiates acts of intimacy with him on her own, sometimes without or even against his consent, causing Jeanne to suspect she is a bit of a pervert. Though Dominique and Luca continued to tell Jeanne that Vanitas had treated her horribly, his promise had intimately affected her. Narration states that once she believes in someone, she never doubts. After warming up to Vanitas, Jeanne affects a much more joyful disposition, and frequently talks about her love for him. She did not believe she'd ever experience romance due to her position as a Bourreau, so Vanitas's romantic affections for her seemed something of a miracle. Her affection for him cause her to regard him as fragile, and she stated a desire to dominate him, as well as fantasizing about making him play the role of a princess in a tower. Though Vanitas was less enthusiastic about their relationship, and others advised her against pursuing him, Jeanne continues to insist that Vanitas is a good person with her best interests at heart.
Jeanne Powers and Abilities General: As a Vampire, Jeanne has far greater strength, speed, and endurance than an average human being by strengthening her physical abilities with interference of the World Formula. However even among others of her kind, she is unusually powerful and her strength has far surpassed nearly every other Vampire seen thus far. Since she was a child she has displayed unnaturally sharp reflexes that even an adult Vampire could hardly keep up with.[4] And as she's grown older, her power has only grown exponentially, to the point of being able to fight on equal grounds with a massive monstrous Beast with no issue.[5] However, Vanitas has commented that she's far "tamer" than expected, in the current day exhibiting far less ruthless and deadly power than in her days as a Bourreau during the War.[1] Weapons: Jeanne's main weapon of choice is the Crimson Gauntlet Carpe Diem. It was made for her specifically to match her skill in battle by Marquis Machina in the middle of the War.[2] With the Gauntlet, Jeanne's destructive force amplifies tenfold, allowing her to crush entire streets of stone with only a swipe of the Gauntlet's claws. And by activating the Astermite that powers the Gauntlet, she can aim waves of white-hot flame that will incinerate the entire area surrounding her. With only herself alone and her Gauntlet in her hands, Jeanne has slaughtered over a thousand Vampires who betrayed their own race in the War.[1] She is also clever and resourceful in the way she uses her Gauntlet, often aiming it downwards at the ground beneath her feet to propel herself high up in the air for faster travel.[6] In addition to Carpe Diem, Jeanne has also been seen briefly using a shortsword in battle.[1]
Luca is calm, responsible, and mature. He is naĆÆve at times and can be shy around people he likes, but the adult vampires surrounding Luca on the whole underestimate his powers and will. Luca is extremely fond of Jeanne, and would do anything to protect the people he loves. Lucius Oriflamme (ć«ćć¦ć¹ć»ćŖćŖćć©ć , Rukiusu Orifuramu), usually called by the pet name "Luca" (ć«ć«, Ruka) is a supporting character from Jun Mochizuki's The Case Study of Vanitas. Because of his high status and young age, Luca's duties are for the most part handled by his guardian and adoptive uncle August Ruthven, while former Bourreau Jeanne is assigned as his Chevalier to protect him from any danger.

Appearance Luca is a very young boy, most likely barely adolescent. As such, he is far shorter than any adult and had not yet undergone physical development associated with puberty. His face is round and childlike, with very thin eyebrows, large, upturned green eyes, and long eyelashes. He has short, red-brown hair with two defined cowlicks on either side. Short bangs fall onto his face, cut close to his hairline. Luca wears multiple outfits. In his initial confrontation with Noé and Vanitas, Luca wears a green, silver detailed button-up mantle that somewhat resembled a houppelande, which has a high, loose collar, and falls to just above his knees. Under this he wears short black pants that go about halfway down his shins, a white shirt with loose sleeves, white socks, and black shoes. As accessories, he wears a green hat with details (in the anime, such details are in gold instead).Personality Luca is calm, responsible, and mature. He is naïve at times and can be shy around people he likes, but the adult vampires surrounding Luca on the whole underestimate his powers and will. Luca is extremely fond of Jeanne, and would do anything to protect the people he loves. Luca also has a very aggressive side, which he usually displays when someone endangers, harms, or harasses Jeanne. He is easily upset and easily flustered. Luca often tries to keep his childish side hidden and has a habit of clutching his clothes, bag, or hands when nervous.
Plot Parisian Excursion Arc Luca and Jeanne approach Vanitas and NoĆ© on the streets of Paris. Luca introduces himself and Jeanne to the pair and promptly demands the book of Vanitas so that he can destroy it, freeing his older brother from his status as a curse-bearer. Vanitas denies this request, stating that the Book isnāt a toy for children like Luca. After giving Vanitas one last chance to hand over the book, Luca asks Jeanne to attack the pair and retrieve the Book of Vanitas. Vanitas and NoĆ© manage to run away from Jeanne, who is becoming increasingly agitated and aggressive. Luca reminds her that she mustnāt kill them, and that she isnāt a Bourreau anymoreā sheās his chevalier. Jeanne manages to get the upper hand against Vanitas, but looks up to see Luca captured and restrained by NoĆ©. Jeanne surrenders to Vanitas, believing that NoĆ© will kill Luca if she did not. After a short conversation, Vanitas kisses Jeanne, quite obviously without her consent. Luca flies into a rage after seeing this, instantly escaping from NoĆ©'s hold and rewriting world formulas to produce flames. Jeanne hastily retreats with an enraged Luca in tow.

Luca attends the Bal MasquƩ along with Jeanne. Near the start of the event, he runs into a very lost NoƩ. Luca, calling NoƩ his friend, pulls him away to speak in private. The pair then watches in shock as Vanitas announces his identity as Kin of the Blue Moon, and his plan to cure the vampires in attendance of their malnomen. Vanitas is whisked away by Jeanne. Luca explains to NoƩ that he wants to apologize for his actions during their first meeting, stating that he was immature and unable to see past his emotions. NoƩ accepts this apology, telling Luca to call him "NoƩ" as opposed to "Monsieur NoƩ." Right after this, the two hear music and multiple curse-bearers appear in the hall at once.
Before they have a chance to do anything, NoĆ© and Luca are impeded by Monsieur Spider and a mysterious man in a plague doctor mask. The duo kills Lucaās guards and begin to fight NoĆ©. NoĆ© gets the upper hand in the ensuing battle, but is stopped by Naenia, who introduces herself as Charlatan. Luca is able to do nothing but watch as NoĆ© is vividly reminded of his past and Naenia approaches. Vanitas arrives on-scene, and is able to break NoĆ© out of the haze Naenia had put him into. Monsieur Spider lunges at Luca, but is stopped by Jeanne. The Spider and Naenia state that they have to leave, as the Beastia will catch them if they stay any longer, and escape from a balcony. Luca and Jeanne run after them, but are unable to catch Charlatan and return to the ball. Luca and Jeanne return to see Lord Ruthven introducing himself to NoĆ© and Vanitas. Luca asks what Ruthven is going to do to the pair. Ruthven tells a relieved Luca that heās taking them under his protection. After the Bal MasquĆ©, Luca invites NoĆ© to go to a cafe with him, Jeanne, and Dominique as thanks for saving his life during the party. Luca specifically asked Dominique what sort of food NoĆ© would like to eat, and is happy to see NoĆ©'s delighted reaction to the cafeās tarte tatin. Both Luca and Jeanne thank NoĆ© for his actions at the ball. NoĆ© states that Vanitas saved far more lives at the Bal MasquĆ© than he did. Luca is extremely irked by this and replies that although Vanitas did save many lives, Vanitas needs to apologize for forcing himself on Jeanne before Luca can offer his thanks. Vanitas gives a flippant apology in response, and an angry Luca demands a proper one. Vanitas cheerfully explains that he and Jeanne are in love, omitting the need for an apology, revealing his mark of possession as proof. Luca listens in horror as Vanitas describes how Jeanne drank his blood at the Bal MasquĆ©, and desperately asks Jeanne if Vanitas is the type of man she likes.
Vanitas seems amused by Lucaās response and states that he took his joke a little too far. He explains that Jeanne was probably influenced by the curse-bearerās voices during the ball and marked him accidentally because of this. Luca, relieved, holds Jeanneās hands and tells her that heās glad sheās all right. Jeanne, Vanitas, and NoĆ© promptly run out of the cafe through the window, leaving Luca exhausted and confused. Later that evening, the group goes out dancing. Luca watches Jeanne dance with Dominique and wishes that he could grow up soon. Some time after this outing, Vanitas and NoĆ© visit Lord Ruthven in Carbunculus Castle. Luca and Jeanne also attend the meeting. Ruthven thanks Vanitas and NoĆ© for their actions during the Bal MasquĆ©, and suggests that the attackers during the ball were targeting Luca. Vanitas then introduces Luca to NoĆ© using his official titleā Grand Duke Oriflamme. NoĆ© is amazed by someone so young holding such power and rank. Luca replies that itās nothing special, and that his uncle handles all his duties at the moment. NoĆ© asks Luca if his older brother is alright, as Luca had wanted the Book of Vanitas to save him. Ruthven interrupts, stating that Loki did not need to be healed, advising NoĆ© and Luca to forget about it.
Vanitas asks Ruthven for a favorā take him to the vampire queen. Vanitas asks Ruthven if he could examine the queen, checking to see if she is even alive in the first place. This enrages Ruthven and Jeanne, but Luca is distressed by the question and reacts with fear and hesitation. Ruthven unleashes his power, tossing NoĆ© and Jeanne to the ground and grabbing Vanitas in a chokehold. An unharmed Luca begged Ruthven to stop. After Ruthven banishes Vanitas from the castle, he reveals to Luca that Vanitas had been looking for a reaction from Luca. He had received one. In the aftermath, Luca gloomily sits by the queenās bedside and asked her what to do.
The Beast of GĆ©vaudan Arc Luca is visiting Loki when Queen Faustina is awakened. Luca attends the senate meeting where the events of GĆ©vaudan are to be discussed. He spends the majority of the meeting as silent as always, but interrupts when Lord Bellator suggests that Jeanne should be executed. Luca angrily informs the senate that he will not allow them to dispose of his Chevalier. The senate is in pandemonium before Antoine de Sade suggests a brief recess, after which Bellator changes his mind. The senators resolve to let Jeanne live, just as Lucaās Borreau rather than Ruthvenās. Amusement Park Arc Luca cheerfully greets Jeanne after she returns from her trip to GĆ©vaudan. Heās relieved to find her unharmed by the Senators, and the two discuss the events of GĆ©vaudan over snacks and tea. Luca is furious when he hears about Jeanneās night alone in a mountain lodge with Vanitas, but is relieved that Jeanne didnāt have to kill ChloĆ© and asks Jeanne about her whereabouts. Jeanne replies that she doesnāt know, but says that sheās sure Vanitas will send her somewhere safe.
Luca tells Jeanne that her trust in Vanitas seems rather unnatural, and Jeanne describes a variety of odd feelings sheās had about the human latelyā his face comes to mind often and her heart beats faster when she thinks of him. A terrified Luca tells Jeanne that it almost sounds like she likes Vanitas. Jeanneās eyes go red and she blushes profusely. Luca, panicking, drags Jeanne to the de Sade estate and barges in on Dominique. Jeanne, still blushing, tells Dominique that sheās genuinely fallen for Vanitas. Luca and Dominique interrogate Jeanne about her feelings towards Vanitas. Jeanne is cheerful and wholly confident in her love for Vanitas throughout the conversation, eventually causing Luca to flee reality and stare blankly up at the sky. After getting over the shock of learning about Vanitas and Jeanneās date, Luca notices something strange about Dominique. Three days later, Luca gets his measurements taken for a ceremony. He delightedly reports that heās grown a little taller to Jeanne. An attendant tells Luca that Dominique has been missing for three days, and tells him about something going on in the humansā Paris. Luca asks Jeanne for a favor.

Twenty years prior to NoƩ's trip to Paris, Dominique was born, raised to believe she was a year younger than her brother Louis, and the youngest of four siblings. While Louis was declared a curse-bearer and sent to live with their grandfather, Dominique was raised by her biological parents in Altus Paris, only occasionally visiting him in the rural village of Averoigne. When she and Louis were still quite young, they met NoƩ, who had been taken as a student by their grandfather. The three quickly developed a deep friendship, Dominique developing romantic feelings for NoƩ over the next several years.[2] When she, Louis, and NoƩ were in their teens, a failed attempt to rescue a child in the final stages of Malnomen resulted in the corruption of Louis's True Name and his death by decapitation.[2] She gave NoƩ a box of unknown contents upon Louis's instruction, having been told to give it to NoƩ "when the time comes." Horrified by what was inside, NoƩ collapsed,[3] leaving Dominique to fret over his health for the next several days. It was during this time she learned she and Louis had in fact been twins, the birth of which was highly stigmatized in Vampire society. Their birth as twins had been covered up, Domi chosen arbitrarily from the two to survive, Louis intended for death but rescued by their grandfather on a whim. After NoƩ briefly confuses Dominique for Louis before collapsing again, Dominique developed an extreme inferiority complex surrounding her brother. She began to crossdress and adopt a more masculine persona out of the belief NoƩ would've preferred Louis survived in her stead.[4]
Dominique is a tall, thin woman with pale skin and a neat hourglass body type. She has broad shoulders, a small bust, wide hips, and a well-defined butt. Her face is round with a small, pointed chin, a large forehead, thin eyebrows, and large, golden, upturned eyes with thick eyelashes. Black, wavy hair falls past her hips, her long bangs parted in the center of her forehead such that some of her hair falls into her eyes, while the rest covers her ears. Otherwise, her hair is usually kept loose and unstyled. Like all vampires of the Crimson Moon, her eyes will occasionally turn red. Though she changes outfits several times over the course of the series, Dominique's usual outfit consists of a black button-up over white pants, a long, white, gold-accented tailcoat with large cuffs, black thigh-high boots, and a black bow. In addition to this, she wears a purple, ribbon-like sash attached to a sword sheath, where she normally keeps a rapier. In most of her appearances, she wears purple gloves. Her outfit would be considered very masculine for the setting.
As a child, Dominique bore a very strong resemblance to her brother, though she was shorter and their fashion tastes differed. Prior to Louis's death, Dominique had long hair she would keep loose or in a bun, and would favor dresses. She either lacked bangs or parted them to the side. After he died, she cut her hair short and began to deliberately mimic his choices in fashion, styling her hair like his, beginning to wear pants, and adopting an overall less feminine gender presentation.
Personality Dominique is initially presented as a confident and flirtatious young woman with a bold and ostentatious manner. During her introduction she asserts that she is NoƩ's fiancƩe and, when NoƩ reveals this is a lie, flirts with Nox to distract from her indiscretion (though the latter interaction is cut from the anime). She naturally attempts to protect those she likes, such as NoƩ and Jeanne, though this protectiveness does not often take into account other's wishes. As such, she is hostile to Vanitas, going so far as to threaten, interrogate, and briefly stalk him, as she perceives him as a threat to NoƩ and later Jeanne. Despite her apparent confidence, Domi is shown to fake competence at times. When Jeanne asks for advice to scare Vanitas off on the presumption Dominique has a history with troublesome men, Dominique refuses to admit she has no dating experience with men and instead gives Jeanne advice based on what she'd learned of Vanitas through NoƩ in an attempt to remain Jeanne's protector. Though she tells Jeanne she does not care for the impact their relations may have on her reputation (as Dominique is a noble and Jeanne is a Bourreau,) she is greatly embarrassed by being defeated and bound in combat.
Behind this brash, outgoing, and sometimes sadistic exterior, Dominique is deeply insecure, and her narration frequently turns to self-degradation. She is frequently the target of bullying by her elder siblings, who refer to her as a failure and mock her fondness for NoƩ and Jeanne. Following Louis's death, Dominique becomes convinced both NoƩ and her family would've preferred she had perished instead. While NoƩ had come down with a fever, she suffers a breakdown and goes so far as to attack her maids when they tried to stop her from cutting her hair. Subsequently she attempted to play Louis's role, adopting a male speech pattern and style of dress. Nevertheless, her relationship with her family does not improve, and NoƩ does not return her feelings for him. After meeting Misha, Dominique becomes convinced that NoƩ would be happier were she to die. When Jeanne thwarts Dominique's suicide attempt, Domi expresses jealousy towards her and claims to despise her. Dominique has a more girlish side. She is sometimes flustered by discussions of sex or romance, despite affecting a more experienced personality. When Jeanne mentions the possibility of sex with Vanitas, Dominique tells her that relationships between men and women should start with the exchange of letters. Her siblings' discussion of sex causes her great embarrassment, and she was susceptible to teasing by Louis regarding her crush on NoƩ.
Powers and Abilities General: As a Vampire, Dominique has far greater strength, speed, and endurance than an average human being by strengthening her physical abilities with interference of the World Formula. She is fit, active, and trained in combat, very much capable of holding her own in a fight with ease, but her natural abilities are no more than that of an average Vampire. Still, she has been shown fighting easily against multiple other Vampires[3] and works as a knight in Carbunculus Castle,[5] showing her skills and credentials to be significant in their own right. Weapons: Dominique's main weapon of choice is a long thing rapier with gold and purple sheath and hilt, which is nearly always strapped to the side of her waist. She is very skilled and highly trained in sword fighting, her movements and reflexes very fast and accurate.[6] She is able to both exert deadly force if need be, and also fight to subdue and restrain against less dangerous foes. In addition to her sword, she is also very skilled at knife throwing, easily hitting her intended targets even upon a spinning wheel.[7]
World Formula Interference: As a de Sade Dominique possesses the ability of cryokinesis, the ability to create and control ice, by rewriting the World Formula much like her older siblings. Whereas the rest of her family uses their powers destructively and nearly always with deadly force and intent, Dominique is more likely to use her ability with restraint and mercy. With her cryokinesis, Dominique can summon large shards of ice out of thin air and manipulate them to fly and crash into any target she wishes. The shards of ice will explode and expand into massive waves of ice, which she can use to restrain and trap people. The ice Dominique produces is so strong it can protect against the weight of a falling ferris wheel without giving or breaking in any way. While the other de Sades' powers are far more forceful, Dominique still possesses her own keen, precise kind of strength.[8]
Dante and Vanitas find NoƩ fighting the chasseur Astolfo. A small beauty mark situated on his left cheek also embellishes Dante's eyes. While working as an information broker, Dante wears a black suit decorated with a cross-stitch pattern, ornate golden buttons, and sleeves ending in different material -- a seemingly universal uniform among information brokers. Underneath, he sports a dark-colored vest speckled with small white polka dots, a white undershirt, a tie, and a matching pocket square.
Personality Dante tends to be rather carefree when dealing with Vanitas - though he is easily annoyed by his employer and partner - particularly when Vanitas addresses him as "Baldy." The two often take jabs at each other playfully, though in reality they enjoy each other's company. In relation to Riche, however, Dante takes on a much more serious, parent-like role. While he is willing to accept her attempts at distancing herself from a childlike perception, Dante also often condemns Riche when she adopts more reckless behaviors, showing that he is very protective of those closest to him by nature. Dante is scared of dark and creepy places, like the catacombs and the forest, as well as stereotypically scary animals like bears and wolves. Dante, unlike Johann, hates the discrimination and hatred he receives from both humans and vampires, and genuinely wants to be accepted by a group other than his small Dham family.

Vanitas book like: The Book of Vanitas is described to be "a blue leather cover and jet-black pages, a clockwork grimoire linked to a silver chain." According to Luna, the blue stone embedded on the Books' cover is Astermite, although not an ordinary one, the silver chians is around vanitas waist to have it all times.
In The Case Study of Vanitas, Vanitas's grimoire, The Book of Vanitas, is a book that Vanitas uses to heal cursed vampires. In still-lifes, books are sometimes included as symbols of the vanity of worldly goods and pleasures.
Muru) is a character from Jun Mochizuki's The Case Study of Vanitas. He is the pet cat of NoĆ© Archiviste, having been with him since his childhood alongside the de Sades and continuing to accompany him all the way to adulthood. Murr seems to have been originally owned by Louis and resided in Averoigne alongside the boy, his grandfather, and NoĆ© who had been taken in as the latter's studentāup until his owner's untimely death, by which NoĆ© came to be his primary caretaker. Thus when NoĆ© receives an order from his Teacher to travel to Paris in search of the Book of Vanitas, Murr follows. Throughout NoĆ© and Vanitas's journey to save every curse-bearing Vampire they can, Murr remains their grumpy yet faithful companion. Murr is an adult cat of average size. His body is slightly fat with a noticeably chubby belly, his fur is long and silky and fluffy, his tail possessing the most impressive volume, he is colored a perfect snowy white, and his eyes are heterochromatic, the right purple and the left blue, identical to the heterochromia of the Teacher's. His face is smushed up in a perpetual frown, and though this conveys Murr's similarly perpetual grumpy mood, this may also signify his breed to be Persian.[1] He is always seen wearing a purple ribbon around his neck as a collar, with a round purple jewel with a scalloped bezel in the center of the bow. When he attended the bal masquĆ© alongside NoĆ©, he wore on his face a small cat-sized eye mask that matched the lacey mardi gras style of mask worn by Dominique. Personality Murr seems to be in a constant state of annoyance in regards to everyone and everything around him. He often ambushes others and will even scratch his owner NoĆ©. He allows himself to be held and doted on, although he maintains a frown of irritability throughout it. Murr prefers the company of women to men, escaping from his cage so that Amelia Ruth can cuddle him upon their meeting. He seems to enjoy spending time with Count Orlok, Manet, Nox, and Ameli

He also seems to have had a good relationship with Louis.
Powers and Abilities Longevity: Murr is seen playing with Louis as a full- grown cat approximately ten years before the start of the series, and has not appeared to age in any way since then. Intelligence: Relationships NoƩ Archiviste Murr has a surface dislike for NoƩ, often scratching him and ignoring him. Despite this, Murr seems to care for NoƩ at some level, tolerating his company and excitability, and often perching on his shoulder. Vanitas Murr seems to enjoy Vanitas' company, being occasionally seen sleeping or sitting on his lap. NoƩ has also questioned why Murr likes Vanitas so much, going so far as to ask if Murr was bribed or if Vanitas was actually a woman. Apparently, Vanitas is the type of person who doesn't care about cats, so he gets attention from them instead.
Amelia Ruth While aboard La Baleine, Murr escaped from his carrier and accosted Amelia. Amelia was initially frightened, but after recovering from the surprise, she was delighted to have his company, commenting on Murr's warmth. She later greets the cat again after being freed from imprisonment, happy to see him. Nox and Manet Having been left behind when NoƩ and Vanitas left to track down Thomas Berneux, Murr went back to Galerie Vivienne where he was discovered by Nox and Manet. Nox and Manet initially were going to remove Murr from Count Orlok's presence out of fear that the count would find him noisy. They held him roughly, causing Murr to attack them out of aggravation. After being scolded by Count Orlok for their poor treatment of Murr, they joined the count in fondly doting on the cat, playing with Murr and feeding him, and eventually becoming great friends.
NoƩ Archiviste is a vampire who helps Vanitas, a young human, heal cursed vampires using his grimoire, The Book of Vanitas. In one episode, NoƩ defeats Astolfo but loses his left hand in the process. The Case Study of Vanitas is a romance comedy set in 19th-century Paris that incorporates steampunk and vampire themes. Some say the show is character-focused and artistic, with a sensual tone.
Vanitas seems to take nothing seriously, and almost always has a playful grin on his face. He acts impulsively most of the time, and his plans are normally reckless. Vanitas carries a mischievous air around him. He finds utmost amusement in NoƩ's abnormal reactions to things.
about Charlatan: Charlatan,Parade is an episode from the manga series The Case Study of Vanitas by Jun Mochizuki.Charlatan (ć·ć£ć«ć©ćæć³, Sharuratan) is the major antagonistic group from Jun Mochizuki's The Case Study of Vanitas. It is an organization completely shrouded in mystery, with its full ranks, the identity of its members, the full scope of its powers, and even its true intentions and desires utterly unknown as of yet.
about Charlatan: Overview, about Charlatan Charlatan is headed by August Ruthven, who partnered with Chasseurs, Gano, Monsieur Spider, the disgraced scientist Moreau, and the Vampire Queen Faustina, following the alteration of her own true name into the Malnomen Naenia ā though the reason as to why is unclear beyond attempting to realize Vanitas of the Blue Moon's malicious intent for Vampires of the Crimson Moon. However, when the Beast of GĆ©vaudan rears its head after one-hundred years, Charlatan works carefully to obtain the Core of the World Formula Alteration Device and its respective research, which had been under ChloĆ© d'Apchier's protection for the last century. Despite bearing the power to summon the Parade of Charlatan, as well as alter the true names of Vampires, Faustina is not the leader of Charlatan, as she answers to Lord Ruthven and Monsieur Spider. Given Monsieur Spider's warning of the Beastia, it would appear as though Charlatan is unprepared to face Vampires capable of powerful World Formula alteration, thus being ineffective against the likes of Veronica de Sade, Marquis Machina, and Loki Oriflamme. They are the organization enabling Naenia and her spreading of Malnomen among Vampires, though for what reason remains in the dark. What little can be discerned about them shows Charlatan to be sinister in its goals, and dangerous for having influence within the Catholic Church and the Vampire Senate. August Ruthven (ćŖć¼ć¬ć¹ćć»ć«ć¹ć“ć³, Oogasuto Rusuvun) is a character from Jun Mochizuki's The Case Study of Vanitas. He is one of the most important, prolific, and revered figures in Vampire history, having been a key figure in ending the brutal race War between humans and Vampires. Appearance
Formerly a teacher and moderate during the War, he was an active participant in peacemaking deals between humans and Vampires in the hopes of ceasing the fighting between races, befriending one ChloĆ© d'Apchier during his efforts. However an incident caused him to become disgraced, his studentsāthe adoptive parents of Jeanne, Ćric and Louiseābetraying him and the other Vampiric aristocracy to the humans. They were declared race traitors and brutally executed, their daughter turned a Bourreau to further atone, while Ruthven himself sustained irreparable damage to his right eye. While no longer a teacher, he remained a political activist and was adopted into the family of the Grand Duke Oriflamme, getting close to the Queen and gaining a seat on the Senate. He used these connections to broker a treaty which ended the War, facilitating the Vampires' exodus into Altus. In recent years, August has aligned with the organization Charlatan. This means he was a key figure in contributing to Naenia's spreading of Malnomen, Doctor Moreau's inhumane experimentation on curse-bearers, and the attempted assassination of his own nephew Luca at the bal masquĆ©. To what end he commits all this remains unknown, though he poses a clear threat to Vanitas and NoĆ© throughout the duo's journey to save every curse-bearer they can.Appearance August is an extremely tall, well built man who appears to be in middle age. . After Vanitas began to blackmail her using her affliction, she confessed a fear of eventually hurting Luca. His promise to kill her when she would eventually harm her love ones struck Jeanne as deeply sympathetic. As she believes she should not be allowed her own wants or needs, she fears intimate relationships, and attempts to warn Vanitas that he will die if he stays with her. His refusal to leave further endeared her to him. She eventually initiates acts of intimacy wit
