Description

The Smiling Critters are small, colorful, anthropomorphic animals, each appearing as a plush toy with a zipper on the front chest, large gaping smiles, and black eyes with white pupils. Each toy has a unique pendant representing the core aspect of each of their personalities. In addition to this, each Smiling Critter comes with the ability to emit their own unique scent via a hole in their mouths by pulling on their tails, all of which are traditionally used to aid with sleep or relaxation, being based on a specific type of fruit, herb or flower.

History

In mid-1989, the Smiling Critters were created by Playtime Co., and to promote the launch of the toys, a cartoon of the same name would air during Summer 1989.[1] However during its air, parents were concerned about how silent and distant CatNap was from the rest of the cast, as well as finding him putting everyone to sleep disturbing.[1] During the production of the plushies, a mistake caused some CatNap plushies to emit The Red Smoke instead of the preferred lavender, making kids in the US who owned the toy suffer violent nightmares. Because of the controversy, the cartoon's reception would run afoul and turn sour[1], and as a result, CatNap was recalled from the lineup and removed from all promotional material. Following the negative reception of the cartoon, it was pulled off air and put into Playtime's vault, never to be repeated.[1] At some point, the Smiling Critters became the main mascots of Playcare. After late 1990, the characters would be used in the Bigger Bodies Initiative,[2] with an orphan, Theodore Grambell, becoming CatNap, designated Experiment 1188, and would be housed in Home Sweet Home. On August 8th, 1995, CatNap and their plush toys participated in The Hour of Joy, killing everyone within Playcare no matter if they were innocent or guilty, and feasting on their bodies, leaving only the children alive.[3] However, the rest of the cast allegedly fought back against The Prototype's control but were eventually killed off by either him or CatNap, with DogDay being the only survivor and kept tortured within the Playhouse's prison cells. It is unclear as to whether the other Smiling Critters characters were recreated for the Bigger Bodies Initiative besides CatNap, Bobby BearHug, and DogDay, since their names are never directly mentioned in relation to the project.

Chapter 3: DEEP SLEEP

The Smiling Critters appear as the secondary antagonists of Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep" as miniature versions of themselves, referred to as Ruined Critters. Only DogDay and CatNap's Bigger Bodies counterparts are fully seen in the chapter, though both eventually perish. The Smiling Critters cast also make appearances in the forms of Playtime posters, their cutout boards, and statues in the center of Playcare's dome, the latter two of where audio files of them can be played. Bobby BearHug also appears as two security statues in Home Sweet Home, from which The Player must obtain Batteries. Hoppy Hopscotch does not make many direct appearances, but motifs of her enthusiastic plus cooperative personality and lightning bolt pendant both occur repeatedly within the chapter. The other Smiling Critters characters do not appear to have any special occurrences.

Smiling critters Catnap

He was originally responsible for looking after the notorious Home Sweet Home, a Playcare facility that held child experiments captive. Experiment 1188 contained a non-lethal but potent version of Red Smoke in his respiratory system. During the creation of Experiment 1188, he went through two iterations before the final version was perfected. Following the rebellion of the victims of the Bigger Bodies Initiative, CatNap had set up shop within Playcare until the eventual return of The Player in 2005. With this return, CatNap was commanded to locate and defeat the player, recruiting a series of other monstrous experiments in Playcare in the process. Ultimately, CatNap fails to complete his objective; and during the final moments of Chapter 3, The Prototype reaches towards CatNap and slaughters him before snatching his lifeless body.

Catnaps appearance

CatNap’s monstrous form resembles a feline creature cloaked in purple fur. Its eyes showcase black pupils encircled by white irises and a cat-like nose. The creature’s mouth can unhinge widely, devoid of discernible teeth, forming an abyss-like void. Monstrous paws bear four digits, each armed with sharp, black claws, and elongated limbs seem loosely stitched at the joints. The disproportionately small, emaciated torso exposes the rib cage and pelvic bone beneath the skin. Around its neck, a subtle melanoid-black zipper runs, akin to a dull yellow crescent moon charm. In his hostile form, CatNap takes on a more haunting presence, with a sickly gray complexion. This skeletal version of him portrays a significant increase in his skeletal features. His legs resemble mere bare bones, lacking any semblance of flesh or fur. The paws, in particular, are completely skeletal with elongated bone-like fingers. The most dramatic part of the transformation can be seen in his mouth, which has elongated to an alarming extent, surpassing the length of his torso. His torso, on the other hand, displays an unexpected resemblance to a stegosaurus, with ridges and plates adorning his back. The moon charm that was once a part of CatNap has also undergone a change, now taking on a silver-like appearance. CatNap's toy form is an anthropomorphic purple-furred cat with black eyes, triangular ears, a black nose and a very long tail. His paws are a darker shade of purple, similar to the insides of his ears. Just like the other Smiling Critters, CatNap is depicted with a wide, toothless smile with a small gray air tube stuck inside it. His torso possesses a zipper line running down that entire segment of his body, with the zipper sporting a yellow crescent moon pendant. CatNap’s cartoon appearance is roughly the same as his toy appearance, albeit with his zipper line removed, the addition of white pupils, and the zipper pendant now attached to a black necklace.

Personality

According to information gathered from his info card, as well as the Cross-Department Report, CatNap was originally stated to be docile, gentle, bashful and highly impressionable. While eerie and unnerving at first glance, CatNap was in reality a rather calming presence who took his job of being Playcare’s caretaker very seriously, as he always wanted to ensure his friends were getting the proper bed rest they need. He enjoyed watching them sleep soundly and could easily take care of the wants and needs of the children. The Bigger Bodies version of CatNap is fervently devoted to the Prototype, tirelessly promoting worship and urging others to embrace the concept of "The Hour of Joy." Those who dare to oppose the Prototype, even toy-mascots, are labeled as heretics and face dire consequences. From the time of his creation, CatNap firmly believes that his ultimate purpose is to serve and obey the enigmatic figure known as 1006, although the true nature of this objective remains shrouded in mystery. While exploring through the Caverns, CatNap is depicted engaging in fervent prayer at a shrine devoted to The Prototype. As the chapter reaches its conclusion, the Prototype emerges and CatNap is shown kneeling, seemingly conveying his submission and loyalty to this figure of reverence. His devotion to 1006 is more likely an evolved version of the “friendship” between Theodore Grambell and the Prototype. Given his unwavering devotion to the Prototype, CatNap exhibits zero tolerance for non-believers who work against his revered leader. This unwavering loyalty is epitomized in CatNap's treatment of heretics, specifically DogDay after navigating through the Playhouse. Despite the extremities CatNap has taken to further the Prototype's goal, he isn't fully heartless, at least towards children, as he still looked after and cared for the surviving children of Playcare after The Hour of Joy, making sure that they are not hurt. One of his efforts of ensuring their safety.

Catnaps backstory

Theodore Grambell, an orphan living in Home Sweet Home, gained notoriety among the staff for his connection to an imaginary friend who seemed to encourage him to sabotage Playtime Co. In the Chapter 3 Interactable ARG, Theodore's drawing depicted him in purple, sitting on his bed while a skeletal arm emerged from underneath. This drawing revealed that Theodore's "imaginary" companion was, in fact, the Prototype. PPTChapter3GameplayTrailer2 IntroCutscene4 Documents of Theodore Grambell during Chapter 3's second gameplay trailer. One day, Theodore received instructions from 1006 to open a maintenance door in Playcare using a leftover GrabPack and a green GrabPack hand. Following the Prototype's guidance, Theodore attempted to open the door, potentially with 1006's intentions of allowing the orphans to escape. However, due to his young age and lack of understanding on how to operate the GrabPack, Theodore ended up getting electrocuted by the green GrabPack hand and needed immediate medical attention. 1006, seemingly having a change of heart, returned Theo to the scientists, consequently losing the chance to escape. Joel Sinclair and Thomas Clarke, upon hearing about the incident, concluded in a phone conversation that Theodore's imaginary friend was responsible. They specifically mentioned that the maintenance door required two people to operate. Thomas himself claimed to have seen Theodore's imaginary friend. Despite Theodore's injury, the actions prompted by his imaginary friend continued, leading to Theodore becoming a potential candidate to possess the Bigger Bodies version of CatNap. Several candidates were considered to control CatNap, but Theodore Grambell was the final candidate, and he became Playcare’s guardian. Like Boxy Boo, CatNap was created with a specialized goal in mind: to oversee Playcare and prevent any orphans from escaping the place, an ironic fate for Theodore.

Catnaps history

CatNap was meticulously designed to aid Playtime Co. in the practice of abducting select children from Playcare for human experimentation, presumably as they sleep so to not rouse attention. As stated within a proposal backed by Harley Sawyer himself, the purpose of Experiment 1188 was to watch over Home Sweet Home.[1] In truth, Playcare held child experiments captive and prevented them from escaping after said test subjects were eligible for experimentation upon beating the Game Station with a near-perfect score.[2] With the creation of CatNap came the creation of the red gas, securely implanted in his pulmonary, which, while non-lethal, was highly potent. CatNap went through two previous iterations (Experiment 1186 and Experiment 1187) before the final version was designed specifically for Home Sweet Home. Soon after the creation of CatNap, multiple employees gave their evaluation on CatNap. All employees concluded with the only real flaw of his being his connection to the Prototype.[3] In the months following his creation, CatNap would act like a pet to the Prototype whenever they were together, although the Prototype seemingly ignored him up until the events of Chapter 3. This eventually escalated into CatNap worshipping the Prototype as a god and even starting a primitive religion, with 1006 at its center. Prior to the events seen in Chapter 3, CatNap would have a conversation with Miss Delight regarding her situation and informed her regarding the Player's presence and offered her to eliminate them if they reach her. She would agree to this. Additionally, during some point of CatNap's reign of terror during the Hour of Joy, all Smiling Critters are implied to have been killed and DogDay tortured due to their disobedience towards the Prototype.

Catnap recall

The events of the Smiling Critters Cartoon, one of many cartoons produced by Playtime Pictures, unfold at DogDay’s house on a stormy and windy night, evident by the dark and unsettled atmosphere. Inside the house, a clock reads 10:05 PM before switching to 10:06 PM. All of the Smiling Critters, except for CatNap, are huddled together in the living room, wrapped in blankets and having worried expressions on their faces. Bobby BearHug says the howling wind is scary, and the tension increases as a branch snaps off of a tree, causing CraftyCorn to cower under her blanket and say she can’t sleep. DogDay attempts to uplift the mood by reassuring everyone that everything will be okay. SmilingCritterCatNapEpisodeThumbnail CatNap putting his friends to sleep as seen during the Smiling Critters Cartoon. Suddenly, there is a knock at the front door, startling the seven critters. The door then opens to reveal CatNap. The other critters' faces light up with relief as they all call out his name. Bubba Bubbaphant, PickyPiggy, KickinChicken and Hoppy Hopscotch frantically plead for CatNap to assist them in falling asleep. In response, a cloud of red gas billows out of CatNap's mouth. The rest of the critters begin to laugh hysterically and uncontrollably as the gas fills the room, with the laughter building in volume and amplification. Reaching a climax, the critters collapse, sleeping peacefully while CatNap sits alone on the couch beside a sleeping DogDay, staring at the camera. With this chilling freeze-frame, the credits roll, acknowledging the producers and cast who made the cartoon. After this episode ends, a news broadcast from WLE-4, covers reports of children in possession of CatNap toys suffering from violent nightmares. The broadcast begins with the Smiling Critters Cartoon, before cutting to the news reporter introducing the Smiling Critters toy line to the audience. A demonstration of how CatNap's scent is deployed plays, before the reporter discusses the aforementio

Catnaps abilities

CatNap, alongside the rest of the Smiling Critters cast, were specifically designed to oversee activities at Playcare and care for the orphans there. Despite being removed from shelves because his toys were causing nightmares, he can still be found at Playcare with the rest of the critters. It is rumored that he is now considered an "exclusive" character. His main ability, which was experimented by Doctor Harley Sawyer, is to emit a special gas only known as "The Red Smoke" from its mouth, previously shown in his plush dolls when his tail is pulled, but an unknown error in the doll's production line caused it to emit a red smoke that, according to a worker's notes, did not smell like lavender as it was supposed to. This gas, showcased in the Smiling Critters Cartoon, is intended to help children fall asleep. Composed of various undisclosed ingredients, including the notorious poppy flower, which was once utilized for soul transfers, CatNap himself can exhale this gas at will. Upon inhalation, anyone in his vicinity will hallucinate and lose consciousness. While unconscious, CatNap can manipulate the players mind to picture whatever he desires. At times, the effects of the gas can be so seamless to the point where the player themselves cannot notice. The effects of the gas, however, can be countered by wearing a gas mask. Based on the anatomical structure of a cat, CatNap stands in a quadrupedal posture and can break into deadly bursts of speed. His feline physiology further grants him increased agility and his elongated limbs allow him a significant height advantage over most prey. CatNap also has sharp metallic claws which are able to retract from his fingertips, much like the claws of an actual cat. They appear to be strong enough to carve through wood and even metal, as he uses them to carve messages into walls. When killed by The Prototype after his boss fight, blood can be seen splattering out from CatNap's wounds, heavily implying an organic nature like all

Dogday

DogDay is a toy produced by Playtime Co. debuting as a minor antagonist in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep". DogDay is the proclaimed leader of the Smiling Critters, which later stood after being transferred as an experiment for the Bigger Bodies Initiative. DogDay originally coexisted in harmony with the Smiling Critters group, each having their own corresponding Bigger Bodies experiment. Following the events that took place during The Hour of Joy, the gang began to drift apart, leaving DogDay as the sole survivor. CatNap then imprisoned DogDay in a concealed cell within the Playhouse, subjecting him to endless torment due to his disobedience to The Prototype. After powering a rotating platform while fending off against the Ruined Critters, The Player finds DogDay imprisoned, with several of his limbs missing. As The Player has a one-sided conversation with DogDay, the Ruined Critters realize their opportunity and eat away at DogDay's body, crawling into his skin and using his corpse as their new vessel to pursue the ex-employee with.

Dogdays appearance

DogDay is an anthropomorphic canine, characterized by an orange fur that complements his expressive black eyes, floppy ears, and sleek black nose. His features extend to a sunshine-yellow outer mouth and belly, while a touch of golden brown graces his paws, ears, and the left side of his face. In line with other Smiling Critters, DogDay sports a perpetual wide toothless grin, his inner mouth shrouded in mysterious darkness. A distinct black zipper gracefully traces down his center, showcasing a captivating gold sun pendant surrounded by radiant orange sun rays. The Bigger Bodies version of DogDay takes on a ragged, monstrous appearance. Completely bisected at the waist, all that remains of DogDay is a thin dilapidated torso stained with blood and held together with a tan leather belt, likely to keep the remains of his innards from falling out. He has large black stitches connecting both arms to his body which end in two massive human-like hands, and like CatNap, his black pupils have white irises. Also like CatNap, he possesses large black sockets with no discernable eyes (until possessed by Ruined Critters), and a large gaping mouth with no semblance of teeth. DogDay’s cartoon appearance is roughly the same as his toy appearance, albeit with his zipper line removed, the addition of white pupils, and the zipper pendant now attached to a black necklace.

Dogdays personality

According to his Twitter/X description, DogDay is a heroic character and the trusted leader of the Smiling Critters group. As shown by his pendant, DogDay has a sunny demeanor, always looking at the bright side of things and encouraging others in their time of need. Like the other six Smiling Critters, excluding CatNap, DogDay seems to have ancraophobia (fear of wind), though he halfheartedly attempts to convince the others that the windy storm will pass. As DogDay inhales The Red Smoke exhaled by CatNap during the closing scene of the Smiling Critters Cartoon, DogDay exhibits a more unnerving and sinister personality. He shows signs of insanity, addiction, and mania when inhaling CatNap's sleeping Poppy Gas, laughing hysterically with the others until he passes out. The Bigger Bodies version of DogDay that many fans are familiar with speaks in a shallow monotone, possibly due to his prolonged captivity at the Playtime Co. Factory. Despite his confinement, DogDay has extensive knowledge about CatNap, his motivations, and other beings like the Ruined Critters and their views towards CatNap, as depicted in his monologue. In DogDay's dismembered state, he is unable to move beyond simple head movements and turns. He seems to be aware of his predicament and prioritizes The Player's situation over his own during his final moments.

Bobby bearhug

Bobby BearHug is a toy produced by Playtime Co. who debuted in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep". Hostile plushies of her reside in Playcare with the rest of the Smiling Critters line-up. Two security statues of her also appear in Home Sweet Home (one broken, one active) for which The Player must get a battery from. Experiment 1186, her Bigger Bodies experiment title, experienced a failed procedure that initially rendered her with sensory and mobility issues.[3]

Bobby bearhugs appearance

Bobby BearHug is an anthropomorphic bear with red fur, black eyes, a black nose, rounded ears, and padded paws. Her paws and upper snout are pink, similar to the inside of her ears. In line with other Smiling Critters, Bobby BearHug sports a perpetual wide toothless grin, her inner mouth shrouded in mysterious darkness, and she possesses a distinctive black zipper tracing down her center, with the zipper sporting a ruby-colored heart pendant. Bobby BearHug's cartoon appearance is roughly the same as her toy appearance, albeit with her zipper line removed, the addition of white pupils, and the zipper pendant now attached to a black necklace.

Bobby bearhugs personality

According to her character description, Bobby BearHug possesses warm and appreciative qualities, similar to how Huggy Wuggy was designed. She cares deeply about her friends and everything around her, and will presumably act as a peacemaker, sharing the same role with CraftyCorn, if a fight breaks out amidst the crew. However, Bobby can also be seen as naive, as she may care about someone who doesn't have her best intentions at heart. According to her cardboard cutout, she fears being abandoned, asking The Player if they are going to leave her. Like the other Smiling Critters, Bobby BearHug showcased an unnerving and maniacal personality when CatNap came to DogDay's house during their sleepover. When CatNap helped them fall asleep via The Red Smoke, Bobby showed signs of euphoria when inhaling the sleeping agent, laughing gleefully with the others until she passed out.

Picky piggy

PickyPiggy is a toy produced by Playtime Co. who debuted in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep". Miniature plush versions of her reside in Playcare with the rest of the Smiling Critters line-up.

Picky Piggy's appearance

PickyPiggy is an anthropomorphic pig with pink skin, black eyes, a curly tail, a half-moon shaped upper snout, and ears curling inward. Her hooves and snout, along with the inside of her ears, are a darker shade of pink. Similar to the other Smiling Critters, PickyPiggy is depicted with a wide toothless grin (the inner mouth shrouded in darkness), and she possesses a black zipper line running down her center, with the zipper sporting a red apple pendant. PickyPiggy's cartoon appearance is roughly the same as her toy appearance, albeit with the zipper line removed, the addition of white pupils, and the zipper pendant now attached to a black necklace.

Picky Piggy's personality

PickyPiggy is a healthy eater who loves food and encourages her friends to eat a well-balanced diet, though she harbors a secret fondness for cheeseburgers and PB&J sandwiches. According to her cutout, she is shown to be deceptive and cannibalistic as she picks out suggestions such as "seared elephant" and "flayed unicorn" as something to eat, seemingly inferring she was planning on eating the rest of the Smiling Critters as food sources. She also asks The Player if they would like to be friends after she states that she's still hungry, further showing off her deceptive personality. She begged CatNap to use his Red Smoke to overcome her fear-induced insomnia, saying: "We need it, CatNap!" When he complied, PickyPiggy showed signs of euphoria when inhaling the sleeping agent, laughing hysterically with the others until she passed out.

Bubba bubbaphant

Bubba Bubbaphant[1] is a toy produced by Playtime Co. who debuts in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep" as a recurring antagonist. He resides within the Playhouse along with the rest of the Ruined Critters.

Bubba Bubbaphants appearance

Bubba Bubbaphant is an anthropomorphic cyan elephant with black eyes, a S-shaped trunk, a long tail with a bulb-shaped end, and large ears. His feet, hands, and tail end, as well as the inside of his trunk and ears, are blue. Similar to the other Smiling Critters, Bubba is depicted with a wide toothless grin (the inner mouth shrouded in darkness), and he possesses a zipper line running down his center, with the zipper sporting a yellow lightbulb pendant with a blue Edison screw base. Bubba also emits a lemongrass scent. His cartoon appearance is roughly the same as his toy appearance, albeit with his zipper line removed, the addition of white pupils, and the zipper pendant attached to a black necklace.

Bubba bubbaphants personality

According to his Twitter description, Bubba Bubbaphant is the most intelligent Smiling Critter and acts as the brain of the gang. This behavior is backed up by his light bulb pendant (often used in cartoons to convey brilliant ideas), and by his interactions with CraftyCorn in the cartoon's intro, when he removed her painting from her easel to reveal a complex math equation. Bubba is observant and level-headed, keeping his friends on the right track to make smart decisions, so they can create a bright future for themselves. Like the other Smiling Critters, Bubba showcased a more desperate personality when CatNap came to DogDay's house during their sleepover. His retained intelligence was the catalyst for the subsequent events, as he was the first critter to ask CatNap to use his abilities to overcome their fear-induced insomnia. When CatNap complied, Bubba showed signs of euphoria when inhaling The Red Smoke, laughing hysterically with the others until he passed out.

Craftycorn

CraftyCorn[1] is a toy produced by Playtime Co. who debuted in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep". Miniature versions of CraftyCorn reside in Playcare with the rest of the Smiling Critters line-up.

Craftycorns appearance

CraftyCorn is an anthropomorphic unicorn with white skin, black eyes, horse ears, and a silver spiral horn protruding from the center of her head. Her hooves, mane and tail are colored sky blue, similar to the inside of her ears. Like the other Smiling Critters, CraftyCorn is depicted with a wide toothless grin with a voice box inside the black mouth and she possesses a black zipper line running down her center, with the zipper sporting a five-petaled rainbow flower pendant. CraftyCorn's cartoon appearance is roughly the same as her toy appearance, albeit with her zipper line removed, the addition of white pupils and the zipper pendant now attached to a black necklace.

Craftycorns personality

According to her Twitter description, CraftyCorn is a creative unicorn with a passion for art, sharing its importance with the other crew members seeing the beauty in all things around her. In the cartoon's intro, CraftyCorn demonstrates her skills as a talented painter, painting an exact replica of Bobby BearHug, which she excitedly showed to Bubba Bubbaphant (only to have him take it off to reveal his math equations, much to her surprise). This is reflected in other aspects, as throughout the art for the cartoon, she is always depicted painting or drawing something. CraftyCorn is also often shown to be quite shy, as well as timid and jumpy, as she screamed and cowered under her blanket when a tree branch snapped off during a windy storm at DogDay's house. When CatNap helped them fall sleep via The Red Smoke, CraftyCorn showed signs of euphoria when inhaling the sleeping agent, laughing hysterically with the others until they passed out.

Kickin chicken

KickinChicken is a toy produced by Playtime Co., debuting in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep". Miniature versions of KickinChicken reside in Playcare with the rest of the Smiling Critters line-up.

Kickin chickens appearance

KickinChicken is an anthropomorphic chicken with yellow feathers, four-digit wings, black eyes, a half-moon-shaped upper beak, and a three-feathered crown extending down the right side of his face. His feet and upper beak have an orange color. Similar to the other Smiling Critters, KickinChicken is depicted with a wide toothless grin (the inner mouth shrouded in darkness), and he possesses a black zipper line running down his chest and belly, with the zipper sporting an orange colored star pendant. KickinChicken's cartoon appearance is roughly the same as his toy appearance, albeit with his zipper line removed, the addition of white pupils, and the zipper pendant attached to a black necklace.

Kickin chickens personality

According to his character description, KickinChicken is depicted as the "cool kid" of the Smiling Critters crew. He highly values this representation of himself, so he maintains his image through everything he does. This behavior appears in the cartoon's intro, where he is seen surfing, a sport generally considered to be cool. KickinChicken also has a strong sense of determination, as he will emerge unfazed from any tense situation that brings him to his knees. Despite this behavior, KickinChicken is prone to fear, as he cowered with the other six Smiling Critters (excluding CatNap) during a windy storm at DogDay's house. When CatNap agreed to use The Red Smoke to help them sleep, KickinChicken showed signs of euphoria when inhaling it, laughing hysterically with the others until he passed out.

Hoppy hopscotch

Hoppy Hopscotch is a toy produced by Playtime Co. debuting in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep". Miniature versions of her reside in Playcare along with the rest of the Ruined Critters. Outside of the Ruined Critters, she makes little direct appearances although motifs of her personality and pendant occur repeatedly in the chapter.

Hoppy hopscotchs appearance

Hoppy Hopscotch is an anthropomorphic lime green rabbit with black eyes, a black nose, and long ears. Her paws are green, similar to the rounded T-shape design in the inside of her ears. Like the other Smiling Critters, she is depicted with a wide toothless grin with a small gray air tube stuck inside her, and she possesses a black zipper line running down her center, with the zipper sporting a gold lightning pendant and a cotton tail. Hoppy's cartoon appearance is roughly the same as her toy appearance, albeit with her zipper line removed, the addition of white pupils and four-digit hands, and the zipper pendant now attached to a black necklace.

Hoppy hopscotchs personality

Hoppy Hopscotch is an energetic and enthusiastic rabbit, which is represented by her lightning bolt pendant. She is particularly fond of outdoor sports, specifically soccer as shown in the Intro to the Smiling Critters Cartoon, in which she kicks a soccer ball while she is atop a rainbow. She is also described as sometimes being loud, bossy, and impatient, thus making her the only Smiling Critter with listed flawed personalities. Despite this, Hoppy also demonstrates eagerness to help others and slow down accordingly as proven by both her character description and her cutout dialogue. Like the other Smiling Critters, Hoppy showcased an unnerving and maniacal personality when CatNap came to DogDay's house during her sleepover. Her retained excitability was shown when she chanted, "Sleep! Sleep! Sleep!" to CatNap, encouraging him to use his abilities to overcome her fear-induced insomnia. When CatNap complied, Hoppy showed signs of insanity, addiction, and mania when inhaling the Red Smoke, laughing hysterically with the others until she passed out.
