Nameless

Nameless, also called Zhe Prime or Agent Ж is a character from The King of Fighters who has only had one stellar appearance in KOF 2002 UM. The character served as a replacement for K9999, due to the latter raising copyright issues due to the obvious similarities to Tetsuo from the Akira manga. Nameless has a story and moveset inspired by K9999. He is voiced by Daisuke Ono, who also provides the voice of the announcer in the eponymous game. In 2021, a trailer was released for the new replacement within The King of Fighters XV, an alter ego called "Krohnen", making a future appearance of this anti-lawsuit character uncertain.

History

Nameless is the last clone of K' and the only survivor of the "Project Ж". He is recognized by NESTS by his codename "Ж" or "Zhe Prime" (Ж is a Cyrillic letter with the appearance of a combination of a backwards K and a normal K). For as long as he can remember, Nameless only knew pain and suffering from the test experiments. He and his "siblings" (other humans cursed to be clones of K'), would test them to see if an ordinary human could withstand the Kusanagi DNA. Nearly all of his siblings suffered severe burns and even death from the genetic mutation experiments. With this, Nameless came close to death many times. Over time, scientists discovered that it takes great willpower to keep the flame under control and he focused on the painful endurance tests, and Nameless lived a miserable existence until he met a beautiful, yet sad girl named Isolde. Whenever he was seriously injured, he would see her near the infirmary. Even though he was usually too injured to talk to her, he fell in love with Isolde. On the surface, the thought that he could one day be with her kept him alive through his merciless tests and experiments. Once the lab members confirmed that Nameless had enough strength to wield the Kusanagi flames, his gauntlet was grafted onto his right arm. The gauntlet would serve to increase his willpower, theoretically making him stronger than Kyo Kusanagi. A similar gauntlet design was originally planned for K', but this was before it was given to him. Though it would later be discovered that he does not actually have control over his flames.

After the final test with his glove was completed and confirmed, he was sent to Earth to test his combat capabilities. He unintentionally killed a woman by simply touching her shoulder. Impressed by the results, he became an assassin for the cartel. On one of his missions, he cornered a man who was trying to escape from the labs. In an attempt to save his life, the fugitive confessed the truth behind Isolde. She told Nameless that she was part of the "Anti K'" project and was given the power to control ice. However, her abilities were considered low until she saw Nameless. Seeing the connection between the two subjects, NESTS allowed the two to see each other regularly in order to bring out their full potential. Sadly, Isolde died from her test. NESTS, not wanting to lose control of one of their strongest clones, introduced Isolde's DNA into Nameless's glove. Thanks to this, Isolde can keep Nameless' power under control through the glove and release it when necessary. Nameless didn't know if he should believe the man, but realizes that his words might be right, as he hadn't seen Isolde since receiving her gauntlet. After discovering this, he continues to work for NESTS voluntarily, hoping that one day he'll be able to see her physically again. He then discovers that Isolde was a clone of Kula Diamond. After the fall of NESTS, Ж calls himself "Nameless" to remove the name given to him by his beloved's killers, and dedicates himself to finding a way to revive Isolde once and for all.

Personality

A lonely young man who just wants to be with his beloved. He locked away his emotions, following his creators' orders without question, in the hopes of being able to resurrect his lover. He was once an assassin, but upon meeting Isolde, they began to form a certain relationship that allowed him to perfect his technique.

Fighting Style

The fighting style is similar to K9999, but more powerful. It relies more on pure instinct and less on his glove, in addition to the fact that he creates crimson red flames. Unlike his counterpart, his DM is based on fire and not energy and weapons, however, because he does not have enough will, he needs to have his glove to be able to control his power, otherwise, he can harm himself.

Powers

Pyrokinesis - Due to containing Kyo Kusanagi's DNA, he can manipulate blood-red flames. Unlike Iori Kyo or K', who can generate fire in the air, Nameless has to remove his gauntlet to use fire. Sawarabi - Nameless can create an angle wave with flames in the vicinity. Yoisuki - Nameless makes a fire slash in an arc shape. Amagiri - Nameless jumps and hits the opponent with fire. Shakuhou - Nameless can create a dome-shaped shield around himself completely made of fire. Zetsuei - Nameless can fire multiple bursts of fire at once. Yukikaze - Nameless transforms his right hand into a power drill, much like K9999. Rasen - Nameless turns his hand into a giant version of Yukikaze, which deals massive damage to the opponent, it is his SDM. Like K9999, it is difficult to roll or evade while performing this movement. Polymorphic Ice Glove - Designed with Isolde's DNA, the glove keeps her flames pacified by Isolde being part of the Anti-K's project. Morph - This glove can change into any shape of any size. Rinkou - Isolde appears when Nameless releases her power creating a huge pillar of fire, being her HSDM.
