Nora Fries is the sister of Dora Smithy and the wife of scientist Victor Fries, who later becomes the super-villain known as Mister Freeze. When she is diagnosed with a terminal illness shortly after their marriage, he has her cryogenically frozen while he searches for a cure. Victor goes insane with the loss and turns to crime to fund his research, becoming an enemy to Batman. She is later revived in a Lazarus Pit by Nyssa Raatko, now becoming a super-villain herself as Lazara. In the New 52, she is merged with Nora Fields and following DC Rebirth, this was changed to Lex Luthor providing Victor the means to save her. The "cure" not only turned her into Mrs. Freeze, but corrupted her mind
