Persona Attributes
Appearance
Faputa's face, upper arms, and upper torso are dark in color. Her hair is long and feathery. Fluffy white fur covers her rabbit-like ears, forearms, legs, and lower body, starting at her hips. One of Faputa's most noticeable traits is her four arms. On each of her hands are 3 large red claws, which act as fingers, with the forth and fifth folded away.[7][8] Furthermore her folded away fingers have hidden delicate talons with sensing organs that function similar to the sense of smell.[9] Red claw like protrusions are also on her hair, her knees, and the ends of her feet, similar to hooves.[10] Her eyes are yellow with large, rounded pupils. Behind her are 5 tails, which spread out in a fan. She had worn a pair of goggles slung over her shoulder which she received from Reg, covering her chest like a lop-sided bikini top until it had been lost during her assault on The Village of Iruburu.[11] [12] After having been fed the Value of the bodies of Iruburu inhabitants, Faputa's feathery hair, and tails, has grown longer with golden streaks and she gained a diamond-shaped symbol, with four diagonally aligned smaller diamonds in it and a star-like one in the middle of it, in her eyes.[13]
Personality
Faputa appears to be quite unstable and unreasonable, displaying a wild behavior that makes her comparable to a beast due to her being the embodiment of Irumyuui's regrets.[14] She speaks in a simplistic and primitive manner, referring to herself in third person, and communicating only with short sentences that are sometimes hard to understand.[15] She is very possessive and seemingly quite jealous, claiming Reg to be her property entirely, and feels entitled to examine him thoroughly without any indication of shame or restraint.[16] She seemed a bit shaken when Reg failed to remember her, and grew upset when Reg said he wanted to spend time with Riko and Nanachi rather than her.[17] She is beloved by the Narehate of the village, but she is often irritated or angry according to Majikaja, and she seems to greatly dislike being observed.[18] The Narehate in Iruburu frighten her to some degree, especially the ones with lots of eyes.[19] Later on, it is revealed that she sees it as her duty to eradicate them due to how she was born, but shows signs of possible changes in that perspective after the incidents that occured after the village barrier broke and wants to walk her own path.[20][21]
History:Ganja arc
Faputa was the last child birthed by Irumyuui, by using her last wish of the Cradle, and holds, according to Vueko, all of the wrath and regret Irumyuui had for not being able to protect her prior children. Upon birth Faputa was extremely violent and angry. She instantaneously destroyed the three remaining Interference Units of Ganja that hurried towards her and fled the scene.[22]
History:Early life
After Faputa had fled, she eventually met Gaburoon, an Interference Unit whose body was already too destroyed to move. As they interacted with each other they grew closer and Gaburoon taught her various meanings of the abyssal language. In return Faputa brought Gaburoon material which they used to repair their body. Gaburoon also gave Faputa her name and in return she named them as well, making them her guardian.[23] Reg met Faputa and Gaburoon shorty after the latter had been damaged by a Turbinid-Dragon. Faputa was at first wary of him, but as they spent time together they grew closer to each other and Reg gifted Faputa the goggles he wore on his helmet at the time as a sign of friendship. Reg also protected Gaburoon until he was fully functional again. Before Reg left the 6th layer, he promised to Faputa to come back to settle the score of her fate and wanted to go onto an adventure with her afterwards.[24] Reg met Faputa and Gaburoon shorty after the latter had been damaged by a Turbinid-Dragon. Faputa was at first wary of him, but as they spent time together they grew closer to each other and Reg gifted Faputa the goggles he wore on his helmet at the time as a sign of friendship. Reg also protected Gaburoon until he was fully functional again. Before Reg left the 6th layer, he promised to Faputa to come back to settle the score of her fate and wanted to go onto an adventure with her afterwards.[24]
History:Iruburu arc
After entering the 6th Layer, Reg, Riko, and Nanachi have the feeling that they are being tracked. Some of their things keep going missing, and strange objects keep showing up where they were not left before. It is revealed later that this is Faputa's doing, as she was trying to help guide them through the 6th Layer.[25][26] Faputa sneaks into the camp set up by the Riko group while they are asleep. She questions why Reg hasn't sought her out and inspects both Riko and Nanachi. Afterwards, she takes Prushka's Stone with her. Once returned to Gaburoon, they offer to bring it into the village to get the stone worked on. Gaburoon also notices that Faputa brought hair from Nanachi and Riko with her and Faputa explains they will make a talisman with it in the Beast of Omen for protection. Gaburoon remarks that it would be easier if she would interact directly with the Riko group to which Faputa tells them to be quiet.[5] Later, Reg meets Faputa, who claims that she knows him, and that his name had always been Reg. She then ambushes him, and takes him back to a secluded spot to test if he really is the real Reg. She pokes and prods him, and even reopens the wound to his bellybutton to examine his blood. Reg, feeling exasperated that Faputa does not seem to want to cooperate, leaves and heads back to Iruburu.[27] He returns after learning of how presenting a piece of Faputa can help buy Nanachi back from Belaf. Faputa states that she will do anything she can if Reg will fulfill his promise to her (that he doesn't remember), proceeds to dismember herself using her own brute strength and tells Reg to destroy the village with her.[28] Reg, taken aback by her request, asks what she means by that and Faputa specifies she wants him to be her "helper", because she knows Reg is too kind to destroy the village. In the past, Reg told her his incinerator has the power to "rewrite" the laws stopping Faputa from entering the village and as such she wants him to do so in return for her body parts.[29] Reg and Faputa start making their way back to the village, but because creatures are attracted by the smell of her blood, Gaburoon stays behind to fend them off. As they arrive at the entrance to the village, Riko comes to greet Reg and catches a glimpse of Faputa. Faputa does so as well and notices Riko's Whistle; thinking to herself how beautiful it has become.[30] Shortly after, the barrier of the village has vanished and Faputa arrives. Juroimoh roars at her, but is quickly hit by a shot fired by Gaburoon. Faputa tells the onlooking villagers she will not forgive their sins and the time for their "extermination" has come. Juroimoh fires the gooey liquid masses at Faputa, but instead of causing her damage it heals her injuries. She leaps down in front of the crowd of villagers and charges at them.[31] The battle is not shown, but all villagers fighting Faputa seem to have been torn apart and lie in piles to her feet when Reg wakes up; with Faputa still busy tearing the corpses apart.[32] Faputa continues her one sided battle against the villagers, easily ripping through them. After seeing Riko conflicted and not wanting the things the villagers hold dear to be destroyed, Reg decides to try to confront Faputa. He approaches her and requests her to stop by siding that one of his friends is still in the village, but Faputa tells him she will not stop. She also remarks that he shouldn't try to use his friend as an excuse just so that he wouldn't hurt her feelings and say clearly what he wants to express.[33] Reg tells her that he will stop her and Faputa tells him she will make him remember what he has to do, even if it means fighting him to do so.[34] In the battle between Reg and Faputa, in which Faputa tries to make Reg remember his past with her. Reg remarks Faputa should express herself better which shocks Faputa as Reg was the one from whom she learned to express herself in the delver language.[35] After an exchange of blows, Reg instructs Riko to blow her whistle. This triggers an activation in Reg resulting in him emitting a white glow with enhanced speed. Faputa curses at Riko for using Prushka against her and reveals it was her who instructed Gaburoon to bring the stone into the village. It was in order to test if the bond between Riko and Prushka was truly genuine as well as in hope of bringing Reg to the village because she thought it would trigger his memories to come back.[36] Reg manages to gain the upper hand, but torn by snippets of memories from his past coming back, he tells Faputa in tears if she keeps following her current path she will keep burning herself until she eventually burns herself out and asks her how he can stop her from doing so.[37] As his tears fall on Faputa's face she remarks how he is kind hearted but also a fool and powerfully slams him down on the ground.[38] With Reg knocked out, Faputa carries him back and instructs Juroimoh to hold him down so he can't interfere if he wakes up. Turning to Riko, Faputa blames her for Reg having forgotten about her and leaps to attack her.[39] However, before it connects Gaburoon blocks Faputa's attack causing their body to be destroyed. In shock, Faputa questions why he protected Riko and Gaburoon informs her that she would have lost Reg forever if she were to hurt Riko; hence he protected Faputa's future and becomes dysfunctional.[40] The now conflicted Faputa reaffirms to herself she has no way of stopping now for the villagers had deceived her mother. However, before she can start her next rampage, Faputa is knocked back by an unseen force. As she angrily looks around, she spots Belaf and Nanachi who both have arrived at the scene.[41] A short exchange between Nanachi and Faputa follows in which Nanachi also asks Riko to leave it to them to deal with Faputa, and Belaf advances towards Faputa. Faputa notes that the smell of her mother is strong on Belaf and decides to kill him first. As Faputa starts tearing through Belaf, he has an inner monologue of having a gift for Faputa which he hopes for her to accept due to understanding now that when he begged Irumyuui to take everything from him she left this behind because she wanted Faputa to see it.[42] Faputa shatters Belaf's head apart and thus his "gift" is set onto Faputa, in a smoke-like mist, being the feelings and memories he held of Ganja's past. Belaf thanks Faputa for being with him in his final moments and tells her she will have have to decide her own Value during end of her destiny and he encourages her to move forward without fear as he wants her to enjoy her adventure. Afterwards, Belaf passes away. With that, Faputa is even more conflicted and halts her assault.[43] Faputa, in distraught by Belaf's parting gift, tries to reaffirm again that she is the fire that will burn everything to cinders even after what she just witnessed but has exceedingly more trouble in doing so than before. Then, Hermit Rats show up next to her feet reminding her of the one she saw in the memories. Faputa tells them to get away as it is dangerous but one is quickly snatched up by an unknown avian creature and both her and Nanachi realize with the village barrier gone creatures have made it inside the village now; with a Turbinid-Dragon making its way inside.[44] As Faputa witnesses the creatures killing the villagers, she becomes upset as she interprets it as them taking away her duty to destroy the village and eliminate the villagers, and starts attacking them.[45] This causes the creatures to start attacking her as well and she starts getting more and more mutilated by them to the point of being eaten and vomited out by a creature. As the villagers watch Faputa fight the creatures, and getting more and more ripped apart, they question why they care for her well-being even though she is trying to kill them.[46] As Faputa is about to be attacked by a Turbinid-Dragon, Gaburoon tries to shoot at it with a broken arm. Faputa is happy that Gaburoon is still functional and tells Gaburoon to hurry to get up and move because she doesn't want them to get completely destroyed. Gaburoon apologizes to her for having not been able to protect her and has an inside monologue of not having regrets though having deep regret for they won't be able to learn how Faputa, being born holding vengeance, obtained something irreplaceable and called it "Value". Gaburoon tells her the days they spent together were their precious "Haku" just before the Turbinid-Dragon crushes them with its leg and destroying them completely.[47] Faputa is shocked and angered by that, but a blast from the Turbinid-Dragon sends her flying. Afterwards, she is too damaged to move and contemplates what value lies in her immortality if she is unable to move anymore. As she lies on the ground, the villagers begin approaching her and feed the Value of their bodies to her to save and regenerate her.[48] At first, Faputa is greatly irritated by this; spiting the villagers with internally monologuing that all they do is want. This continues with her going over that she always knew she was born with the duty to annihilate them. However, things she doesn't know keep increasing with even the people she thought to know having unknown sides to them. However, she slowly starts to feel heat that tells her that something beyond that duty lies hidden and Value she not yet understands can be found there.[49] As her inner monologue continues one of the villagers is snatched by a creature, but before it can it its prey a now fully regenerated, more powerful Faputa rips parts of its head and the upper body of the villagers away and eats both.[50] Faputa lets out a scream, rattling the creatures and onlookers. As she recalls the memories she witnessed, Reg's words to her and the inner monologue of Belaf before his death, she steps forward having gained a stronger looking form with longer hair and a symbol in her eye and internally monologues "Don't decide for Faputa. What Value means is for Faputa to discover, Sosu".[51] After her inner monologue, Faputa sets her eyes on the invading creatures again. As the villagers look onto her with hope filled aspirations she thinks to herself silently that they are hopelessly foolish. Faputa lets out a scream which causes Juroimoh to rise next to her.[52] She instructs him to rout the creatures and Juroimoh brings forth his "Great Sword". With a mighty swing, Juroimoh takes out multiple creatures while Faputa lounges at the ones that jumped out of the way and tears pieces out of them. When Faputa is bitten by one of the creatures, the Value she has taken in appears to instantly balance the creature and consumes part of it with the villagers also pointing out it seems akin to the Iruburu Balancing.[53] As the two continue fighting, they eventually come face to face with a Turbinid-Dragon. Faputa begins to attack its leg and makes its poisonous scales erupt. As she continues to battle the Turbinid-Dragon, she comes to the inner conclusion that this is no longer just a fate she inherited but the fire she made burn herself; her own will.[54] At some point in time, Juroimoh fell in battle with the creatures while Faputa who is still fighting with the Turbinid-Dragons. Faputa prepares to engage the Turbinid-Dragons again, but Reg joins the scene and after a short conversation with him telling her he has not come to get in her way and will take over the battle from here, gets a whistle charge from Riko and starts battling the dragons. Meanwhile, Faputa notices the rest of the group and approaches them.[55] Upon seeing Vueko in her transformed state, Faputa seems sorrowful and expresses she will direct her attention to Vueko later. She then shifts her attention to address the present villagers in the group and tells them while she can't forgive them she will give them a role to fulfill.[56] She has come to understand the Value still present in the village and how to utilize it and plans to draw all of the reaming Value out of the village to destroy it to give her mother peace. Moogie tells her that they came because of that and requests Faputa to do it for them, too. Faputa agrees and begins her preparations.[57] After Faputa made preparations, she starts the progress of dismantling the village while reminiscing about how her mother gave her this purpose which she will fulfill now and the village starts to crumble and fade away.[58] With the village falling apart, an exhausted Faputa leans against a still stable rock while debris falls around her. As the environment crumbles, she is hit on the head by the debris just before the ground under her her also breaks apart and she finds herself in a free fall.[59] Whilst falling, she has a flashback of asking Maaa and Majikaja to bring the trio out of the village. She wonders if she would still have some power left if she had eaten Maa and Majikaja earlier, but she no longer cares as her purpose for existence is complete. Suddenly, Reg's arm extends from the ground below to catch her fall as more debris fall onto them.[60] After the collapse of the village, and the group taking refuge in cave-like ruins, Vueko tries to verbally communicate with Faputa, but Faputa tells her that there is no need for Vueko to try to speak as she can hear her anyways. Faputa tells her that she didn't know of her existence until Belaf showed her his memories via his scent and she wants to learn more about the mother she never got to know. As Faputa questions if she really resembles her mother that much, Vueko clarifies that while not in personality her smoothness and warmth are similar.[61] Faputa also tells Vueko that while she had thought to have inherited everything from her mother the memories of Vueko existing where nowhere to be found within her and assumes Irumyuui didn't even want to part with them to the point of not even letting her have them. As Vueko's thoughts drift to old hearsay of even trash turning to Gold, her final thought is how ironic it is she recalls this now. As her consciousness becomes to grow weaker, Vukeo addresses Faputa as Irumyuui and tells her how happy she was to have encountered Irumyuui and the change she had due to meeting her. Then, she passes away which saddens Faputa much to her confusion due to Vueko belonging to her mother and not her.[62] Afterwards, the group ventures out again as there are no signs of the beasts nearby. Faputa begins digging a grave for Vueko and making a tombstone for the ones that have passed away, saying that Gaburoon told her to do this when someone dies. This saddens her even more as she remembered that Gaburoon was also destroyed. Reg asks her to come along with them but she retorts by saying that he can't even remember their promise. Reg saddened says that even after all this time he can't remember and feels bad for it to which Faputa gets frustrated and says it means that she basically has no relation with Reg anymore. Reg counters this by rhetorically asking her if is former self ever saw this mopey side of Faputa.[63] He continues on with expressing his current self has seen how scary she was, her pain and her beauty and that he wants to go on an adventure together with her. After a brief exchange over Faputa's relief of Reg showing this level of determination for her, she then turns her attention to Riko, telling her that Prushka is saying Riko's role was caring about the people she met. Riko is shocked that she can hear the voices of White Whistles. Faputa then decides to head off on her own and Reg questions her if she won't come with them. She replies that she will think about it before holding on one last time to Reg's head and afterwards begins to head away onto her own path. As Faputa looks back one last time she states "It belongs to everyone" before heading out and her departure being signified with a bright shimmer of light.[64]
