Utahraptor

Utahraptor was a lizard-hipped theropod with feathers for its arms and head, a larger member of the family Dromaeosauridae. They grew to be up to four metres long and two metres tall and weighed around a tonne. It had a heavy head, a curved, flexible neck and sharp, serrated teeth. Its tail was stiff, long and pointed, helping it to balance its body and change direction quickly when running at up to 65 km per hour. It would have had a speed similar to contemporary iguanodons, and was faster than sauropods.

Variation

They are good hunters and scavengers; in addition, the thickness of the tibia indicates that the animal had significant leg strength to kill its prey. Utahraptor is thought to have been a formidable hunter, possibly hunting in packs to take down large prey such as iguanodons and ankylosaurs. How many Utahraptor herds are there?
