Issei Hyōdō

Issei Hyōdō

(兵藤 一誠, Hyōdō Issei) is the main protagonist of High School DxD. At the beginning of the story, he is a 2nd year student at Kouh Academy, and is known within the academy as "The Perverted Beast". When he finally manages to date and have a relationship with his first girlfriend Amano Yuma, she turns out to be a Fallen Angel who kills him without even an explanation. [5] He is reincarnated by Rias Gremory into a Devil as a servant of her Clan. After being reincarnated as a Devil, he becomes a member of the Occult Research Club of which his Master Rias Gremory is the President, and all of its members are Servant Devils of his Clan and his new Partners. Issei is initially very weak, so he works harder than anyone else to improve himself and thus become an Ultimate-class Devil and the King of a Harem.

appearance

Issei is a young man in his late teens with an average build, short brown hair with several bangs that partially cover his eyebrows and two hair extensions that hang parallel to his neck, and brown eyes. After his training with Tannin, he gained a more muscular and toned build. While he has worn several outfits throughout the series, his most commonly worn outfit is the Kouh Academy uniform, which consists of a jacket (most commonly black, though in other media it is shown with a purple or grey tint, with white accents) over a white long-sleeved shirt with black highlights with a black bow at the collar, matching black pants, and brown dress shoes. However, Issei wears the uniform differently in that he wears a red t-shirt underneath his shirt and jacket, and wears white and blue sneakers instead of dress shoes. Wearing both the summer and winter models depending on the school calendar he is in. From the end of Volume 2 to the beginning of Volume 11, Issei's left arm transformed into that of a dragon as a result of having signed a pact with the dragon Ddraig in order to gain the power to defeat Raiser Phoenix. In order to leave him with a human appearance, Rias or Akeno perform a ritual in which the dragon power is drawn out of him, allowing him to appear human for a few days. In Volume 11 after Issei's Body was destroyed, in Volume 12 With the Powers of Ddraig, Ophis, flesh and blood of Great Red, another Dragon body was made for him with a Humanoid form. Thanks to this new body, Issei can freely transform any part of his body into a Dragon.

personality

Despite being a pervert and having gained some notoriety for being one of the members of the perverted trio of Kouh Academy, he has garnered the attraction of many girls around him: Rias, Asia, Akeno, Koneko, Xenovia, Irina, and Ravel. This is due to his kindness, wanting to protect and help those who are important to him despite nearly dying at the hands of his opponents. He is also unaware that the girls around him had crushes on him, often believing that they were simply making fun of him without taking his feelings seriously. Even Rias's relatives ask him to use the same names with them as Rias uses (father, mother, brother, etc.) and many other mentions of engagement activities, but he doesn't seem to understand them. Because of this, he doesn't understand anything unless it involves breasts or lewd things, and he can't comprehend it and is considered an idiot. Issei may be a lecherous pervert, but he will never take advantage of any of the girls, as shown in volume 11 when Koneko enters her heat phase, he cares greatly for his partner's well-being before taking advantage of her situation. After his murder by Raynare, Issei was afraid to admit his feelings for girls as he thought it would make them turn against him. He acknowledged that this would never happen, but it still left him traumatized. However, in Volume 10, that trauma is finally overcome thanks to the help of Asia, Akeno, Koneko, Xenovia, Irina, and Ravel who make him reflect and realize their feelings for him and make him realize the feelings Rias has for him.

During the Battle in Volume 10 against Sairaorg Bael in the Rating Game, Issei confesses his love for Rias in the Rating Game that was seen by the entire Underworld and the leaders of all the Factions; from that moment on, Issei began his love relationship with Rias and understood that all the Girls are in love with him.

history

Issei is an only child in his family. Not much is shown of his past except the fact that he is childhood friends with Irina Shidō. At some point during his childhood, Issei met an old man who told him and other children stories about breasts, which eventually led to Issei's fascination with them, and his perverted tendencies. He attends the same middle school with Matsuda and Motohama and the three of them began attending Kuoh Academy a year prior to the story, and have become known as the perverted trio to practically the entire school. After being killed by Raynare and revived by being Reincarnated by Rias, Issei discovers that he possesses the Boosted Gear one of the 13 Longinus where the master of the Sekiryuutei Ddraig is sealed, one of the Two Celestial Dragons. Despite this, he is a very weak Demon who was called the weakest Sekiryuutei, which is why through his effort, training and battles against very powerful beings he begins to improve until he becomes one of the strongest characters.

The Awakening of the Red Dragon Emperor

Issei is introduced in Volume 1 of the light novels, where Yūma Amano asks him to go on a date with her. However, at the end of the date, Yūma suddenly kills him, revealing herself to be a fallen angel in the process. However, in his final moments, Rias Gremory saves his life by reincarnating him into a devil. The next day, after noticing some strange changes to his body, he is attacked by the fallen angel Dohnaseek, who leaves him severely injured until Rias arrives and saves him once again. He is introduced to the other members of the Occult Research Club: Akeno Himejima, Koneko Tōjō, and Kiba Yūto, and soon learns that all of them, including Rias, are devils. He soon learns to his shock that he is a devil as well. However, after learning that he may one day have his own servants, Issei then declares his dream of becoming king of his own harem. Later, he meets Asia Argento, a nun, and quickly befriends her. He soon learns that she also possesses a Sacred Gear after she used it to heal a child. He then guides her to his church, where, upon approaching, he gets strange chills all over his body, forcing him to stop (Rias explains to him that devils cannot approach churches as they risk being killed by the angels' spears of light). During his first battle with the stray devil Viser, he learns from Rias about Yūto, Koneko, and Akeno's traits as a knight, rook, and queen respectively, and later learns, much to his disappointment, that she is a pawn. The next night, Issei goes to meet with a client, only to find that upon arriving at the client's house he has been killed by Freed Sellzen, a stray exorcist. He was being overwhelmed by the crazy priest until Asia intervenes, asking Freed to let Issei go but is beaten by him, angering Issei who fights Freed once again.

However, he is stopped by the rest of the Occult Instigation Club who intervene and take Issei back, leaving Asia behind. Fortunately, Issei eventually joins Asia again at a nearby park the next day, and the two spend the entire day together, which ends with the sudden appearance of Raynare who takes Asia back, leaving an injured and overwhelmed Issei behind despite the latter having used his Sacred Gear. Determined to save Asia from the Fallen Angel, Issei, with the help of Yūto and Koneko, manage to reach the church where Raynare is hiding, while fighting Freed once again. However, they are too late as Raynare takes Asia's Twilight Healing, killing her. Determined to avenge Asia's death, Issei fights Raynare in a one-on-one duel, defeating her after activating his true Sacred Gear, the Longinus, Boosted Gear. He then asks Rias to kill Raynare after the latter desperately begged Issei to save her, even going as far as to say that she loves him. After the battle, he was overjoyed after Rias revived Asia as his bishop, sharing an emotional reunion with Asia. At the beginning of Volume 2, after his daily training with Rias, Issei is shocked to learn that Asia is moving in with him and that she transferred to Kouh Academy. Issei later receives a sudden visit from Rias, who asks him to take her virginity much to his surprise and shock. Unfortunately, Rias' attempt is thwarted by the appearance of Grayfia Lucifuge, her brother Sirzech's queen, who scolds Rias for trying to break the engagement set up by her brother and father. Later, Issei meets Raiser Phoenix, a man from the Phoenix Clan who, to his surprise, is revealed to be Rias' fiancé. Refusing to accept it, he activates his Boosted Gear in an attempt to confront Raiser, but is defeated by one of his pawns.

After Rias agrees to face Raiser in a Rating Game by betting their commitment, Issei and the rest of the Occult Research Club members go to a mountain to train. He later assisted Rias in her first Rating Game against Raiser, in which he assisted in defeating half of Raiser's minions before facing Raiser. Issei, however, was unable to do anything as his body had reached its limit due to the continuously increased energy load on his body, and was beaten nearly to death by Raiser, forcing Rias to surrender. Waking up in his room and being informed of Rias' defeat by Grayfia, Issei becomes frustrated and blames himself for his weakness, only receiving a paper from Grayfia with a magic circle engraved on it. Arriving at the engagement party, Rias' brother and Demon King, Sirzechs Lucifer, reveals that he created this event as an entertainment for Rias' engagement party, allowing Issei to battle one-on-one against Raiser for Rias' engagement, and win through the strategy he had formulated beforehand.

The Birth of the Emperor Breast Dragon

In Volume 3, Issei was introduced to the members of the Student Council led by Sona Sitri, to whom it was revealed that she is a first-class pure-blooded devil and the heiress of the Sitri clan. He later reunites with his childhood friend, Irina Shidō who was under orders from the Church to retrieve the stolen Excalibur swords. She also learned about Yūto's past and decided to help him overcome his past. To do so, Issei, Koneko, and Genshirou Saji went to find Irina and her partner Xenovia and made a temporary alliance with the Church duo, where they will help them retrieve the Excalibur swords in exchange for allowing Yūto to destroy them. They eventually encountered both Freed Sellzen and Galileo Valper, engaging in a battle with the two, who managed to escape. Their alliance was discovered by their masters and the three of them (Issei, Koneko and Saji) were subsequently punished for taking this action without their consent. They later faced one of the Fallen Angel leaders Kokabiel who challenged Team Gremory to a fight at Kouh Academy. With the backing of Team Sitri who formed a barrier surrounding the school, Team Gremory fought against Kokabiel, Freed and Valper. While Team Gremory and Xenovia were able to defeat the Cerberus sent by Kokabiel and Freed who wielded the fused Excalibur, they eventually engaged Kokabiel in battle and were overwhelmed by the latter who revealed the death of the God of the Bible. Team Gremory, however, was saved by the sudden intervention of Vali Lucifer, who arrived to retrieve Kokabiel and Freed on Azazel's orders.

In volume 4 of the light novels, Rias introduced her other bishop, Gasper Vladi, to Issei, Asia, and Xenovia. Issei later assists in training Gasper in the use of his Sacred Gear. Before the Three Factions Meeting, during his visit to Akeno at the shrine she used to live in, he receives Ascalon, the Dragon Slaying Sword of Saint George, from Archangel Saint Michael, and learns of Akeno's true identity. After he assisted in upholding the peace negotiations between the three factions of the Khaos Brigade which led to killing their leaders, both he and Rias went to rescue Gasper, who was being used by the Khaos Brigade. After Gasper's successful rescue from the Khaos Brigade, Issei, Rias, and Gasper are shocked by Vali Lucifer's sudden betrayal, who then begins to fight Issei. Using the bracelet given to him by Azazel, which acts as a substitute for the sacrifice needed to use the Scale Mail, Issei was initially unable to do much against Vali, but using Ascalon to break Vali's shield, he managed to transfer Ddraig's power into Vali's Scale Mail, forcing it to temporarily stop its functions and begin an attack against Vali on the ground. Issei, however, was shocked by the recovery rate of Vali's Scale Mail and with little choice, Issei decided to take the risk of implanting Albion's power into the Boosted Gear, successfully doing so by creating the Dividing Gear. Vali, who was interested in the situation, decided to halve everything around Issei, not understanding the situation, Azazel explained that it would also reduce the girls' breasts by half, which angered Issei to the point that he was able to overwhelm Vali who was in her Balance Breaker form.

The battle, however, ended abruptly when Bikō suddenly arrived to retrieve Vali before he could activate his Juggernaut Drive. In Volume 5, he goes to the Underworld with Rias and her friends for the Junior Devil Tournament. Upon arriving in the Gremory region, Issei along with Rias and her companions, are greeted by the servants of the Gremory house, before meeting Rias' mother, Venelana Gremory, and her nephew, Milikas Gremory. During that time, he is taught how to read and write the Devil alphabet, proper table manners, dance lessons, and how to interact with people with high social status. Before the Junior Devil Tournament ceremony, Issei meets the four other Devils who are chosen for the competition: Sairaorg Bael, Seekvaira Agares, Zephyrdor Glasya-Labolas, and Diodora Astaroth. After the Rating Game between Rias and Sona was determined, he was forced to train under the former Dragon King, Tannin, in one of the mountains in the Gremory region, and gained super strength that he can utilize once he has acquired his Balance Breaker. Issei, however, did not attain his Balance Breaker until the fight against Kuroka and Bikō where he gained full access to his Balance Breaker after poking Rias' nipples. He then aided Rias in her Rating Game against Sona. While he manages to defeat Saji, he lost due to blood loss which was set up as a plan by Team Sitri to defeat Issei. However before losing, Issei reveals his new move, Bilingual, which allows him to speak with female breasts and thus learn of Team Sitri's strategy, allowing Team Rias to win at the end of the match. As the Occult Research Club leaves the Underworld to return to the human world, the group was surprised by the sudden appearance of Diodora Astaroth.

a demon whom he healed from Asia in the past, who went so far as to propose marriage to Asia. In Volume 6, Issei and his friends accompany Rias to the Underworld TV station for an interview for the Young Devil Tournament, where they meet Sairaorg and his queen, Kuisha Abaddon, who has just finished his interview and told the Gremory team that he wants to face them with only raw power. During Rias and Diodora's scheduled Rating Game, the match was interrupted by the sudden appearance of the Khaos Brigade and the revelation of Diodora's alliance with them before kidnapping Asia. The Gremory team then went to defeat Diodora and his minions and rescue Asia until the sudden appearance of Shalba Beelzebub who sends Asia into the dimensional gap. This act caused Issei to activate the Boosted Gear's Juggernaut Drive, due to the negative feelings that appear after Asia's apparent "death" and causes him to go insane. He went to defeat Shalba but was unable to stop himself until Azazel and Sirzech composed an Oppai Dragon song and used Rias' breasts as a switch to help release the Juggernaut Drive. Issei then witnessed the appearance of the Great Red, who was swimming in the dimensional gap.

The Heroic Oppai Dragon

In Volume 7, Issei goes on a date with Akeno, which ends with them meeting Odin, Rossweisse, and Baraqiel, Akeno's father and a leader of the Fallen Angels, who served as Odin's bodyguard at the time. The Occult Research Club is attacked by Loki, who came to kill Odin and create Ragnarok. Issei engages Loki in a fight, but is overpowered by the arrival of Fenrir. Issei and his friends, however, are saved by the timely arrival of Vali Lucifer and his team. The two teams eventually decide to work together to defeat Loki and Fenrir, seeking advice from the Dragon King, Midgardsormr, on how to defeat Loki and Fenrir. During the final battle against Loki, Issei wields a replica of Mjolnir, the hammer used by the Norse god Thor. Although initially completely unable to use Mjolnir, Issei gains the ability to use it after helping Akeno reveal her true feelings and make peace with her father through the help of the Breast Fairy, thus along with Baraqiel and Akeno's Holy Lightning they managed to defeat Loki. In Volume 8, Issei and Rias go to the Underworld, where they undergo an engagement ceremony at the Connection Ruins. Issei, however, is unaware of the purpose of the ceremony. Throughout the ceremony, Issei and Rias undergo the four tests set by the "Satan Rangers". In the first test, Issei and Rias had to dance; in the second test, Issei and Rias were tested on table manners; and in the third test, Issei and Rias were tested on knowledge of the Gremory clan's history and general knowledge of the Underworld, all of which they successfully passed before moving on to the final test. In the final test, Issei was forced to fight Sirzechs/Satan Red and was completely overwhelmed by the latter until Grayfia advised them that they could use Rias's breasts as a power-up.

allowing Issei to use a final Dragon Shot but they still lose after Sirzech repelled the attack and as they retreated Issei lost consciousness. After the ceremony, Ajuka Beelzebub, one of the Four Satans and the original creator of the Evil Pieces system, reshaped Issei's pieces to fit Ddraig's powers. In Volume 9, Issei and the rest of the second-year students go to Kyoto for a field trip. While on the train to Kyoto, Issei enters the depths of the Boosted Gear where he meets one of the last remaining Boosted Gear holders who provides him with a box that unlocks his potential and the Boosted Gear's possibilities. During the trip, Issei was attacked by several Youkai led by Kuno, who thought that he was responsible for the capture of her mother, Yasaka, the leader of the Youkai. While they manage to clear up the misunderstanding, Issei and his friends are soon confronted by the true culprits in capturing Yasaka: the Hero Faction led by Cao Cao. While the first fight was interrupted by interference from Le Fay Pendragon and Gogmagog of Vali's team, Issei and his friends are forced to clash with the Hero Faction once again in order to rescue Yasaka from them. During the fight, after seeing one after another of his friends being defeated, Issei curses his own lack of power but this time, with advice from Belzard and Elsha, Issei successfully attains the Illegal Move Trident, due to his desire to protect his friends and Rias' breasts, allowing him to switch to the Scale Mail through Promotion. With his newfound power, Issei manages to temporarily overwhelm the entire Hero Faction before succumbing to the exhaustion caused by the Illegal Move Trident. The team, however, is rescued by the sudden appearance of Sun Wukong, who holds off the Hero Faction and through the use of his Senjutsu revitalizes Issei.

After returning from Kyoto, the team was being berated by Rias for not calling her to help them when Azazel tells the group that Ravel has transferred to Kouh Academy, much to the dismay of the girls of the Occult Research Club. In Volume 10, after finishing another Oppai Dragon campaign, Issei and Rias see Rias' mother Venelana, who congratulates them for their hard work before scolding Rias for her lack of progress with Issei. Rias then tries to seduce Issei by attempting to have sex with him in the Hyōdō residence's sauna room. Issei, however, does not understand and calls Rias "Buchō", causing her to become very sad and angry, and then asks what she is to him. During Rias' Rating Game against Sairaorg Bael, Issei fought against Sairaorg's bishop, Coriana Andrealphus, and his queen, Kuisha Abaddon, defeating both before facing off against Sairaorg and his pawn, Regulus, in the final match with Rias. During the match, Issei was doing well against Sairaorg until the latter fused with Regulus to use his Balance Breaker, overwhelming Issei. Issei, however, was able to turn the tables by accessing the True Queen, achieving the Cardinal Crimson Promotion which combines the power of the rook, knight, and bishop into his Balance Breaker Armor while changing from red to crimson. Using his newly gained powers, Issei manages to fight on par with Sairaorg, managing to successfully defeat him in a fistfight after Sairaorg lost consciousness. After his victory, Issei can no longer contain his feelings for Rias and confesses to her, calling her by her name for the first time. She accepts his feelings with tears of joy and the two officially become a couple.

although it seems that none of the other girls (Asia, Akeno, Koneko, Xenovia, Irina, and Ravel) have given up on Issei. In Volume 11, both Issei and the rest of Team Gremory are shocked to see Ophis, accompanied by Le Fay Pendragon and Kuroka, arriving at their house, something set up by Azazel after Ophis' claims of wanting to observe Issei. Afterwards, Issei, Akeno, and Yūto move to the Glasya-Labolas territory to take the promotion exam to become Middle-class Devils. While the group is resting after the test, they are ambushed by Cao Cao and Georg who came to steal Ophis' powers. The battle ends with Team Gremory and Team Vali losing to Cao Cao and Ophis' powers stolen. Both teams were then attacked by a legion of Grim Reapers and Siegfried. They eventually overcame the situation by having Issei use Rias' breasts to replenish Issei's Magic and successfully forced the enemy forces back until Shalba appeared with a kidnapped Leonardo, forcing him to activate his Balance Breaker which creates 13 gigantic monsters to destroy the Underworld and kidnap Ophis. Near the end of the volume, Issei went to rescue the kidnapped Ophis from Shalba who escaped into a crumbling dimension field. Issei eventually caught up to Shalba and the two fought one last time before Issei killed Shalba. During the fight however, Shalba manages to shoot him with an arrow imbued with Samael's blood, resulting in Issei's death. In Volume 12, Issei's original body is destroyed due to Samael's curse, but he gains another body through the help of the Great Red and Ophis. He returns and successfully saves the children of the Underworld who were taken hostage by Jeanne and Heracles, easily defeating them. He has his third encounter with Cao Cao.

Thus he is defeated. At the end of Volume 12, Issei is officially promoted to a Middle-class Devil, along with Akeno and Yūto. Afterwards, Rias and Issei plan to go on a date as they had promised each other before, as the rest of the Occult Research Club members (including the boys much to Issei's distress) decide to go on dates with him as well. In Extra Life Volume 13, Milicas heads to the Hyoudou residence and temporarily stays with them. Later, he has a mock battle royale against Issei, Kiba, and Gasper. Despite losing to Milicas failing against them, Issei notes that his power is overwhelmingly extraordinary and his talent is dangerously close to that of Vali Lucifer. Later, when Sirzech asked him if he liked the Red Satan or the Oppai Dragon more, Milicas chose the latter option, causing Sirzech to slightly unhappily get along. In the end, Issei starts calling him Milicas instead of Milicas-sama. Later, Issei obtains a familiar, which is the living Norse vessel, Skíðblaðnir that was given to him by Surtr the Second.

The Legend of Oppai Dragon

In Volume 14, Issei meets with the Head of the Mage Council, Mephisto Pheles, regarding the pact between Rias Gremory's Clan and the Mage's Association. He later attended the negotiation with the vampires who were led by Elmenhilde Galnstein who wanted Gasper to join her clan, the Carmilla Faction. He was completely ignored when he asked her a question, due to her status as an official. Several days later, while attending his class, Issei was attacked by three stray magicians who distracted him so they could kidnap the first-year students of the Occult Research Club. He, along with the other members of the Occult Research Club and the Student Council then go to battle them, then easily eliminate the stray magicians and the Khaos Brigade magicians before a voice called out to Issei, Akeno, Xenovia, Asia, Irina, Rosswiesse, Saji, and Sona to meet them. The group was sent to a "factory" built in the dimensional gap that was used to create artificial Phoenix Tears using clones of the Phenex Clan. After some talks with the supposed leader, he summoned Grendel, one of the Evil Dragons thought to be Dead, and Issei was forced into a battle, but was overpowered throughout the fight until he used Ascalon's Dragon Slayer abilities to turn things around. It was then that the head of the mages, Euclid Lucifugus, Grayfia's younger brother, calls Grendel to stand down while revealing himself to Issei and the others. In Volume 15, while Issei and Ravel are selecting mages to make a pact with, Akeno, Sona, and Bennia entered his room to discuss what the Sitri Group and the Gremory Group would do while Rias and Yuuto are in Romania. They were having their discussion in the underground pool when Kuroka and Le Fay arrived and was surprised when Kuroka mentioned that they fought against the evil dragon, Aži Dahāka. Griselda Quarta.

Dulio Gesualdo, and Tobio Ikuse later arrived and asked Issei if it's okay for them to help train the group in which Issei happily accepted. In Volume 16, Issei, along with the Occult Club members Bennia and Loup Garou went to Romania to help Rias and Yuuto who were locked inside Tepes Castle, reuniting with the two when they arrived at the castle. They were then brought to the throne room to meet the new "king", Valerie Tepes and the new mayor, Marius Tepes as the group was angered by Marius' action and the latter's claim that he could do so without fearing for his life due to his bodyguard, the evil dragon Crom Cruach. After the meeting had ended, Issei and the others met an old man wearing a Lucifer costume who was shocked to learn that the man was Valerie's grandfather, Rizevim Livan Lucifer and denied Rizevim's proposal to join their group. Issei then participated in the attempt to stop the extraction of the Longinus, Holy Grail, from Valerie and save her. Meeting with Grendel again, Issei and his friends team up to fight Grendel in order to buy time for Rias to use her new move, in which they successfully dealt serious damage to Grendel with their combined efforts. The fight, however, ended without a clear outcome as Crom Cruach appeared and ordered Grendel to retreat. Vali then appeared as both Issei and Vali vowed to team up to face the stronger Evil Dragon. Issei in his Crimson Cardinal Queen form was able to deal minor damage to Crom Cruach using Crimson Blaster combined with Ascalon's Dragon Slayder ability. The fight was then stopped by Crom Cruach since he was told to only entertain them for ten minutes.

Issei later fought against the mass-produced evil dragons that were rampaging through Carmilla's castle town and was able to easily defeat them, until he encountered Euclid Lucifugo. He then fought against Euclid who uses a replica of the Boosted Gear. He was overwhelmed by Euclid, but was able to turn the tables when he used his newfound power that allows him to create small white dragons that he can "split" and "reflect". The fight was stopped when Rizevim and Lilith arrived and told Euclid that it is time to retreat. After returning from Romania, Issei participated in the meeting for the formation of the D×D Group and told Ravel that he wants Le Fay to make the Mage/Demon Contract.

powers and abilities

At the start of the series, Issei displayed no special powers or abilities. Upon becoming a Devil, however, he has enhanced his physical capabilities (being able to pedal very fast on his bike in the anime, for example) and heightened his senses. Additionally, as a pawn, he has the ability to use promotion whenever he finds himself in enemy territory, becoming any piece except the King's piece. Issei has since had to modify his Evil Pieces to allow him to promote at any time, and to switch between promotions as needed. Issei's Sacred Gear is the Boosted Gear, one of the 13 Longinus where one of the Heavenly Dragons, Sekiryuutei Ddraig, the Red Dragon Emperor, resides. It is said to have the power to kill Maou and God when fully mastered. His Sacred Gear's abilities are to double his power every 10 seconds without limit, and its sub-ability is to be able to transfer his multiplied power to a being or object, making it great in terms of support. Issei can also fire a beam of energy by concentrating his magical powers, which he calls "Dragon Shoot". After his fight with Sirzechs, feeling inspired by the way he uses his Power of Destruction, Issei begins to work on how to redirect his Dragon Shot by moving it in different directions, which he first uses in Volume 12 in his battle against Jabberwocky.

In his initial battle against Vali in Volume 4, Issei placed one of Vali's Divine Dividing Jewels into his Scale Mail Armor, creating the Dividing Gear that allows him to use Albion's Dividing powers. In Volume 7, while fending off the Hero Faction members, who are humans, Issei develops mini-magic dragon missiles, which are tailored to knock out normal humans. Boosted Gear Issei possesses unimaginable power as he has the legendary Scarlet Dragon encased in his left arm. The dragon's power grows stronger and stronger as its user offers something to the dragon, his Boosted Gear is so strong that it becomes armor, but it has a limited time with respect to the amount of your body that you have offered to the dragon. The Boosted Gear also has the power to absorb energy and use it to its advantage. In addition to his Boosted Gear, Issei has also invented a number of attacks that suit his lustful nature. Cao Cao has suggested that Issei has the ability to draw people to him, as when he meets the Great Red he just "happened" to be close enough to save Issei and Ophis when the dimension they were in was being destroyed, throwing him into the dimensional gap. Sirzechs has also alluded to such an ability. Whether this is a true "power" or simply a coincidence and personality is still unknown.

Weaknesses and Vulnerabilities

As the wielder of a Dragon-type Sacred Gear, in addition to the common vulnerabilities of Devils such as Light and Saintly objects, Issei is vulnerable to Dragon-slaying elements such as Dragon Slayer Swords like Gram and Ascalon, and the poison curse of Samael who is known as the Supreme Dragon Slayer. Ddraig has warned that now that Issei's flesh is that of a dragon, it is certain that he may be even more vulnerable to these Dragon-slaying effects.

She is apparently the second in Issei's harem, after Rias. After Issei became a High-class Devil, she became his bishop.

Akeno himejima

When Akeno first met Issei, she thought of him as a kōhai that she could mess around with and flirt with, but as time went on she started to see that Issei was very protective and started to fall for him. She really fell for him in vol. 7 after he helped her release her Holy Lightning ability. She loves him very much and isn't afraid to get into fights with the other girls when she gets jealous. She is fine with being third in his harem after Rias and Asia, and she likes the idea of ​​an adventure. Issei cares a lot about her, and is willing to risk his life for her. Kiba Yuto

Yūto is a Knight of the Gremory group and is Issei's self-proclaimed best friend. Issei initially disliked Yuuto due to him getting all the girls' attention with his good looks, but Issei began to see Yūto as a good friend. She had had a crush on Issei since they were little, but was disappointed to see that he had turned into a devil and a pervert, but still loved him nonetheless. She wants to make love to Issei and have his children just like Xenovia apparently to strengthen the forces of Heaven. She loves Issei very much, but is having trouble in the harem because if she thinks or does anything wrong, she starts to "fall". However, it is suggested that she is willing to fall for Issei's sake. Issei wants to give her children as well as wants to protect her just like with the other girls. Xenovia

Xenovia and Issei met in Vol. 3 and she didn't care for him all that much. She then decides that she wants to have strong children and chooses Issei to be her partner. She is completely oblivious to sexual situations due to being raised in the Church, and tries to have sex anywhere with Issei, even going as far as bringing condoms to school so they could "practice". She later develops strong feelings for him due to Issei being quite protective of her, something she likes a lot and thus falls head over heels for him. She doesn't get jealous when girls are around him, often just letting him, though when one of the girls tries to have sex with him, she gets jealous and tries to take him away. Gasper Vladi

When Gasper and Issei first met, Issei thought she was another girl and was heartbroken after learning that he was a cross-dressing boy. After defeating Raiser at the engagement party, she fell madly in love with Issei and in vol. 5, she starts to develop feelings for Issei, albeit in a tsundere way. In vol. 10, she moves in with him and transfers to his school to spend more time with him. She stated that she doesn't mind becoming one of his concubines as long as she's by his side, showing that she truly loves him despite being a tsundere. In vol. 12, she becomes an official member of Issei's harem and starts fighting with the other girls for him. Issei was unaware of her feelings until vol. 12, but was still willing to risk his life to protect her due to Ravel's mother asking him to take care of her. Ravel became Issei's manager, thanks to the increase in his fame as a Sekiryuutei, she began to manage his jobs as a Devil and symbol of the Underworld, while helping him in aspects of his daily life. She is very happy to do this job and enjoys spending much more time alone with him, making special requests such as being able to sit on his lap or praise her work with pats on the head. By Volume 22, Ravel officially became his servant (His Second Bishop) when Issei was promoted to a High-Class Devil. She also became the strategist and coach of the Sekiryuutei team, for the Azazel Cup. In Volume 23, Issei notices that Ravel was feeling devastated given the results of the last Rating Game. Even though she knew how to act in a way that could cheer everyone up, Issei was able to see how she really felt and comforted her alone, dismantling being able to tell what Ravel is thinking just by looking at her. Ravel became the second in command of Issei's group, as well as his company Vice-president.

She acts as Issei's right-hand man and always states that she will support Issei's every decision, to the point where she would remain by his side even if the Sekiryuutei decided to declare war on the rest of the world. She has repeatedly stated that she will always do her best to please his orders no matter what they are.
