Xenovia

(ゼノヴィア, Zenovia) is a young girl of the same age as Issei, who is initially sent by the church along with her friend Irina to recover the Excalibur swords stolen by Kokabiel. She is one of the characters who is first shown as an enemy, and later becomes an ally, she has some resemblance to Asia, since the two sometimes know how to pray (out of habit), consequently giving them an intense headache for praying, which generates laughter in the other characters. When she discovers that God died in the great war she is expelled from the Church which makes her end up joining the Occult club run by Rias and by extension the Gremory Clan shortly after as her other Knight.

Xenovia is a young girl around Issei's age with short light blue hair with a green streak on her forehead and brown eyes. Her primary costume is the Church Battle Outfit, which consists of a tight-fitting, short-sleeved leotard with shoulder pads, long fingerless gloves that extend to her biceps, and thigh-high boots, all adorned with ribbons. This outfit is worn under a white hooded cloak with gold and blue accents. She also wore a crucifix around her neck, which was later removed when she became a demon. Upon transferring to Kuoh Academy and entering the Occult Research Club, she begins to wear the Kuoh Academy female school uniform.

When Xenovia was first introduced, she was portrayed as having a serious and calm attitude, putting her mission first and speaking only when necessary, preferring not to get involved in trouble that doesn't concern her. While she was a faithful member of the Church, her beliefs were flexible enough to accept help from a dragon such as when she accepted a free lunch (after Irina had spent all her money on a fake painting of a saint), she only wants to fulfill her mission, but also wishes to survive. After Volume 3, she gains a very close relationship with Asia and apologizes to her for calling her a witch. She is quiet, serious, and very protective of her ideals, in short a very dogmatic person especially when it comes to the church and God, but her personality changes when she transforms into a demon since she becomes more liberal but not to the extreme, she becomes innocent at some points given that she and her friend Irina are scammed when they arrive in Japan, by an art dealer. As the series progresses, it is shown that Xenovia develops strong romantic feelings for Issei due to his determination to protect his comrades no matter how much harm he may get or how much he is hurt. She also tries to seduce him whenever she can, because she wants to give birth to a strong baby. She also gets angry and gains a terrifying aura when other girls get close to him. In combat, Xenovia is the direct type who rarely uses her head and only tries to overwhelm her opponents rather than using subtlety, strategy, or skill. Since Xenovia was raised in a Church, she lacks common sense and is unaware of what normal people's lives are like, such as when she brought a box of condoms to school.

Because she was raised by the Church and lacks common sense, she tells him that she wanted to have children out loud regardless of where it happened. She wants Issei's Red Dragon Emperor genes to have strong children, but later in the series, she develops feelings for him due to him always putting himself in life or death situations for the safety of all the girls and does so without selfish motivations or personal desires.

Xenovia initially detested her due to her becoming a devil and still believing in God and wanted to kill her so that she could be forgiven and even called her a "witch", a fact that saddened Asia greatly. Later, when she discovered the truth about her beliefs, she decides to become a devil servant to Rias and becomes very close friends with Asia. Xenovia feels extremely guilty about how she treated Asia in the beginning and constantly apologizes for it, despite Asia having already forgiven her.

Not much is known about Xenovia's past except that she was raised and trained in the Church as the wielder of Durandal.

Synopsis: The Birth of the Emperor Breast Dragon.

Xenovia first appears in Volume 3, teaming up with Irina to recover the three stolen Excaliburs under the Church's order. She and Irina make a temporary alliance with Issei, Koneko, Yūto, and Saji to recover the stolen Excaliburs but allow Yūto to destroy one of the swords. During the fight with Freed Sellzen and Valper Galilei, she reveals herself to be the wielder of Durandal, quickly turning the tide of the battle by destroying the fused Excalibur and defeating Freed. Following the battle with the Fallen Angel leader Kokabiel, she became a Devil of Rias upon discovering that God was dead. In the beginning of Volume 4, Xenovia attempted to seduce Issei in hopes of giving birth to a strong child (Issei's body emits the aura of one of the Heavenly Dragons) but was unsuccessful due to interference from Rias, Akeno, Asia, and Koneko. Afterwards, she accompanied Rias and the other members of the Occult Research Club in unsealing Rias' other Bishop, Gasper, and assisted in his training (trying to exorcise him). During the meeting between the leaders of the three factions, Issei asked Michael so that both Asia and Xenovia could pray to God. During the Khaos Brigade's attack, Xenovia was able to rid herself of Gasper's time-stopping ability and helped fight off the magicians sent by the enemy. In Volume 5, she accompanies her master and her companions to the Underworld for the Young Devils' Gathering. In the Underworld, Xenovia trains to master Durandal through the use of Ascalon. During the Rating Game between Rias and Sona, Xenovia and Yūto fight against Tsubaki Shinra, Yura, and Meguri. She was defeated by Tsubaki who used her Sacred Gear to counter Ascalon resulting in her elimination but manages to give the Durandal to Yūto before disappearing.

The Heroic Oppai Dragon.

In Volume 9, before her trip to Kyoto, she sends Durandal to Heaven to be upgraded. While on the train to Kyoto, she asks Issei for Ascalon, which she uses in her first battle against the Hero Faction in Kyoto. During the second battle, she retrieves Durandal which has been upgraded to Ex-Durandal after they fused the fragments of Excalibur into Durandal, achieving a wide-ranging attack against the Hero Faction. She and Yūto then battled Siegfried but were easily defeated by the latter. In Volume 10, she assisted Rias in her Rating Game against Sairaorg Bael where she and Gasper fought against Ladora Bune and Misteeta Sabnock, with Misteeta sealing Xenovia's Ex-Durandal with her Sacred Gear. Despite this, they won after Gasper sacrificed himself to buy some time to undo the curse on Xenovia's Ex-Durandal, who proceeded to defeat both of her opponents in one hit. She then fought Sairaorg alongside Yūto and Rossweisse but was defeated by the latter. In Volume 11, she accompanies Issei, Akeno, and Yūto to the Underworld to take their Middle-Class Devil Promotion Exam. The team is then attacked by Cao Cao and Georg, so Cao Cao uses his True Longinus to shatter Ex-Durandal. She then teleports out of the dimension created by Georg along with Irina and Le Fay Pendragon to go to Heaven to repair Ex-Durandal. She returns in Volume 12, with a fully repaired and completed Ex-Durandal after gaining all seven Excalibur fragments, and helped Irina and Akeno deal with Jeanne. While they are able to defeat Jeanne, she manages to take a child hostage to prevent them from attacking her. Following Issei's return and Cao Cao's defeat, Xenovia states that she wants to go on a date with him, as does the rest of the Occult Research Club.

Participations in Volumes 3 - 4

She makes her appearance in Volume 3 of the light novel ("The Excalibur in the Schoolyard), she makes her appearance at Issei's house along with Irina, shortly after she appears again but now in the Occult Club Room, it is at that moment that it is revealed that she possesses the "Excalibur Destruction" or Excalibur of destruction, after she and Irina tell Rias and her servants that the Excalibur were stolen, she warns Rias and the others saying "We are not here looking for your help. We came to warn you not to get in our way", they prepare to leave, before leaving she sees Asia, and tells her that it was not expected that formerly known as "The Holy Maiden" and now "Witch" would become a Demon, before these words Issei defends Asia by criticizing the church and Xenovia, saying that Asia never wanted to be considered "The Holy Maiden", the situation came to a head when Kiba intervened, due to the great hatred that he holds for the Excalibur and thus a fight breaks out between Kiba, Issei, Irina and Xenovia. Kiba fights with Xenovia but all the Demonic Swords that he creates thanks to his Sacred Gear (Nascent Sword) are destroyed by Xenovia's Excalibur, at the end of the fight both Issei and Kiba lose to them. Later Issei trying to help Kiba along with Koneko-chan and Saji, go in search of him. After starting to search, they find Xenovia and Irina begging on a sidewalk, since they bought an "Image" of a saint according to the seller, it was "Original", but it turned out to be false, in short they were scammed, it is at that moment that Issei and company invite them to eat to "negotiate", having already eaten and finished negotiating, Kiba that Issei called him previously tells him that Freed (the priest who tried to rape Asia), possessed Speddy Excalibur, they tell them that they did not want help from demons but they did accept the help of the great dragon of Wales or red dragon.

claiming that her mission was to recover or destroy the Excalibur but since the enemy is Kokabiel, it was the second option that was going to be fulfilled in other words a mission of self-sacrifice, after leaving, they are seen again when chasing Freed with Kiba, shortly after Kokabiel gives him the wounded body of an unconscious Irina, he claims that the user of the Excalibur (Xenovia) and the horse escaped and he could only catch that one (Irina), he stole her Excalibur, then in battle she reappears when cutting off one of the heads of a Cerberus of the two that Kokabiel summoned to harm Rias and Akeno, after that it is revealed that she is the born user of "Darrandal" a very important and powerful sacred sword, after she and Kiba stabbed and defeated Freed as if nothing (he was using the fused Excalibur of the 3 that Kokabiel stole and English:the one taken from Irina), after Kiba achieved his Balance Breaker, (Holy-Demonic Sword) Kokabiel revealed that God was dead a long time ago just like the true Demon Kings, (he died in the great war between Angels-Demons-Fallen Angels), so it is possible that Kiba achieved his Balance Breaker since it consists of half Holy energy and half Demonic, she and Asia are in shock, and do not participate in the battle again, after that she appears in the clubroom, wearing the school uniform, Issei asks her why she was dressed like that to which she answers by spreading her demon wings, in Volume 4 of the series it is shown that Xenovia's new dream is to have a child with someone powerful in this case Isse, according to her own words. The state you are in you will not notice but a powerful dragon aura emanates from you, that is why I love having a son, I want him to be strong, even if he does not inherit a Sacred Gear, it is very possible that he will inherit the dragon aura from his father's genes..." (Volume 4 Light Novel).

Powers and Abilities

As a Horse, Xenovia is capable of moving at superhuman speeds, which, combined with Durandal's destructive powers, makes her a formidable opponent. She also has the ability to harness Durandal's holy aura with other swords, evident when she uses Ascalon (Issei allows her to use it due to him not being a good swordsman and because she cannot fully control Durandal). In Volume 9, Durandal is upgraded to Ex-Durandal, which is the fusion of Durandal with the Excalibur fragments owned by the Church. As of Volume 12, Ex-Durandal contains all seven Excalibur fragments, granting it not only the combined power of Durandal and Excalibur, but once mastered, it will have the individual capabilities of each of the seven Excalibur fragments in addition to Durandal's destructive power. As of Volume 4, Xenovia is one of the two Devils (alongside Asia) who will not receive any harm from praying and invoking God's name. Issei was able to convince Michael to make this possible for both Xenovia and Asia due to their histories with the Church.
