Infinite is an enigmatic and mysterious, yet deadly and dark figure. He is cold and stern, though deeply sadistic and cruel. However, before becoming Infinite, he had at least some degree of care for his men in Jackal Squad, as he angrily confronted Shadow for destroying Jackal Squad before fighting him. He is also extremely sadistic, taking great pleasure in the pain and torment of others. He even willingly lets the Avatar walk away unharmed, just so he can savor their terrified screams. His violent disposition was present even before his transformation into Infinite, as demonstrated by him striking the Phantom Ruby with his sword, causing it to reveal a desolate, war-torn world. He also seems to dislike stagnation very much, admitting when he joined Eggman that he had grown tired and bored of the world, and wished to change it, evidently for the worse, just to provide some amusement. Extremely calm and confident with a cynical and indifferent demeanor. Infinite is portrayed as insightful and aloof, toying with his foes and barely sparing a thought for his enemies even in direct combat. He also appears rather arrogant and overconfident in his strength, as he often displays a sense of superiority when speaking to others and shows little respect for figures such as Sonic. His arrogance was evident even before he became Infinite, as he constantly referred to himself as the "Ultimate Mercenary". Fittingly, he also mocks those who find strength in others, believing that one can only rely on themselves and that friends and allies are nothing more than a "fleeting illusion".

However, he is able to recognize attributes of his opponents that he finds commendable, as he acknowledged before attacking Omega that the latter was "spirited" and during his rematch with Sonic, he reluctantly acknowledges that Sonic had improved since last time. A surprising character trait of Infinite is that he seems to have developed some sort of insane obsession with power. This began to be noticeable when he fought Shadow and was easily defeated by him. After Shadow impassively destroyed his squad and told him that he was worthless, Infinite began to rage that he was not weak before eventually fusing with the Phantom Ruby prototype, completely discarding any trace of his previous identity, to the point where he refused to show his own face. The most disturbing fact of this appears when Shadow passes through an emulation of Green Hill created from the Phantom Ruby. Infinite's thoughts are repeated through a fake Omega, constantly and without pause repeating that he is not weak, displaying an extremely sinister and sick obsession with power. Due to his megalomania, Infinite also demonstrates a Darwinian view of life, which is especially evident in his fight against the Avatar in Metropolis, where he declares that the weak ultimately exist to be defeated by the strong, and later admits that he underestimated how desperately the weak will cling to life when the Avatar managed to fend him off. Interestingly, despite valuing the Jackal Squadron enough to attempt to attack Shadow as revenge for the latter's destruction of his unit, Infinite stated during his final battle with both Sonic and the Avatar that friendships are a "fleeting illusion", and that one can only rely on certainty in oneself. Additionally, both Sonic and Amy noted that Infinite's existence was sad and lonely.

Appearance

Infinite is an anthropomorphic jackal with black fur and long wavy white hair. He has long, stiff dreadlocks, a sort of white collar, and white stripes down his back resembling a ribcage. He also has a bushy tail with a white tip, and wears black gloves with silver stripes down his back, which cover his tapered fingers. He also has black, metallic shoes, with his personal infinity symbol etched into red soles. His right eye is blue, though it has a scar on it, and his left eye is yellow. He also has a medium-length white snout with cheek tufts, a black nose, and noticeable fangs. After abandoning his former identity, Infinite began wearing a silver-colored mask with large ears with black and white circular patterns inside them, with the right ear being black with white circular patterns, and the left ear having black circular patterns. While his left eye is visible through a red visor, his right eye is covered by a black lightning bolt-shaped piece, similar to an eyepatch, that is connected to the right ear of his mask, which glows red when he uses his strength. Infinite possesses the final prototype of the Phantom Ruby which is fused to his chest. When Infinite channels the power of the gemstone, he can surround himself with a red aura, with red glitch-shaped pixel particles scattered throughout his body.

Infinite is the secondary antagonist in Sonic Forces. He is an anthropomorphic jackal and was formerly the leader of the Jackal Squad mercenary group. During a raid, Infinite was hired by Dr. Eggman to protect his facility, only for him and his squad to fall into the hands of Shadow the Hedgehog. Ashamed of his defeat, Infinite decided to obtain the power of the Phantom Ruby as a means to not only become stronger, but also abandon his "weak" past. With his newfound power, Infinite helped Eggman expand the Eggman Empire to its largest size yet after defeating Sonic the Hedgehog. However, near the end of the war with the Resistance, Infinite clashed with Sonic and the Avatar on multiple occasions until he was defeated during the decisive battle for the planet and consumed by the Phantom Ruby.

Infinite was once the leader of the Jackal Squad, who one day decided to invade one of Dr. Eggman's bases in order to steal his devices and get a bounty. The Doctor, having recently discovered the Phantom Ruby, used the newly discovered gemstone to conjure an army of Egg Pawns, giving the Jackal Squad some opposition. Infinite ordered his forces to deal with the robots while he aimed straight at Eggman. Infinite's sword, however, struck the Phantom Ruby, giving him a vision of what Infinite desired most: a desolate, destroyed world. Eggman, who also saw Infinite's vision, realized that he and the jackal leader together could achieve their goals. Offering Infinite a chance to join his side when the Jackal Squad was cornered, Infinite accepted the proposal. Later, Infinite and his squad eventually fell victim to Shadow the Hedgehog, who infiltrated Eggman's facility, who they were assigned to stand guard over. After being berated by Eggman for his incompetence in protecting the facility, Infinite ambushed Shadow, only to be completely overpowered by the hedgehog. Calling the leader a useless jackal, Infinite became enraged as he realized how weak and humiliating he truly was.

Infinite would seek the allegiance of the Eggman Empire, fusing with the finalized Phantom Ruby prototype in an attempt to become stronger and seek revenge against Shadow. With his newfound power, Infinite abandoned the previously weak version of himself, gaining a mask to hide his scars, symbolizing his rebirth. Shortly after gaining his powers, Infinite was sent by Dr. Eggman to deal with E-123 Omega, who had proceeded to slaughter a group of Eggman's minions on their way through Eggman's base. Confronting Omega, Infinite effortlessly defeated the robot with his abilities. Shadow soon after appeared at the facility to find Omega, and Infinite welcomed Shadow to their long-awaited reunion. However, when Shadow revealed that he had no memory of Infinite, Infinite unfazed proceeded to tell Shadow about his backstory and what he had been up to since their first meeting a couple of months ago. Once he was done, Infinite attempted to crush Shadow by trapping him in a virtual reality. Although Shadow broke free, Infinite was impressed by the power he now possessed. After hinting at his agenda to defeat Sonic, the facility he and Shadow were in began to collapse. Infinite, however, ran away while laughing wildly.
