biography

The origin story of Immortan Alice is told by the Story Men in Vertigo Comics' "Nux & Immortan Alice." They tell of the "woman who cheated death" and her rise to power: "On a random Wednesday, the power went out and never came back on. The world passed its tipping point [...] Those who could, left the city to let it die slowly. Those who had strength and ruthlessness [...] ex-marines, devil dogs with high, tight haircuts, arsenals of weapons and the will to use them, men in search of something more, a vision of a new world rising from the ashes of the old world. Their leader, the militant Colonel Alicia Moore..." [1]

rise to power

Immortan Alicia, formerly known as Colonel Alicia Moore, was a veteran of the Oil Wars and a hero of the Water Wars. She formed a group of vehicle raiders that defeated other groups of survivors after the Fall. They killed the weak... they discarded the children as if they were nothing more than another mouth to feed... they took the men and accepted the strong into their ranks, essentially the same pattern that has repeated itself throughout history. Colonel Moore's growing gang included henchmen nicknamed "Major Kalishnikov" and a strategist named "Deepdog." With his marauding ways, his idea of reclaiming society took a dark turn. Eventually, he and his gang entered the Wasteland, where he would learn about a massive water plant later known as The Citadel.

Learning about the aquifer

In the Wasteland, Colonel Alicia Moore spotted a group of rogue MFP officers (Roop and Charlie) attacking another group of survivors. She sent out a war party who found a survivor (who later became the People Eater) with knowledge of the location of a massive aquifer built into a series of natural stone plateaus in the Wasteland, sitting on a freshwater lake. After learning of the aquifer's location, Colonel Alicia Moore attempted to negotiate with its rude inhabitants, wanting to trade the captured women for water. Her offer was refused and her band was attacked. She decided to look elsewhere for water. Finding Gastown and Bullet Farm Colonel Joe Moore sent out scouts to look for water, but what they found was an abandoned oil refinery and an abandoned lead mine. He also sent disposable members of his band to climb and inspect The Great Rock, but they were all shot down.

taking the Citadel and becoming a legend

Alice Moore, inspired by a Persian (actually Maratha) general Tanaji Malusare, decided to sneak into The Citadel and take it over in a similar manner. She tied a rope to a lizard that was going to climb the wall and allowed the gang to do so. The lizard was reluctant to climb at first so Fuk-ushima cut off his own finger and tied it to a stick hanging in front of the lizard's head to encourage the reptile to climb. The lizard eventually managed to climb up and the attackers climbed the rope at night. The remaining gang members on the ground began an all-out assault and while the aquifer defenders were busy firing at them from above, a surprise attack by the people climbing up occurred. While Moore's men attacked from above, the defenders retreated to another tower and blew up the pipes connecting the towers. Moore's plan was foiled. The gang began counting losses. As they did so, they noticed that there was a fight going on inside the main tower. As the day progressed, the main tower began to burn. The band on the ground thought that someone had entered the tower, but then they saw known members hanging from the top, one after another. On the third day, the band below lost all faith and decided to leave. But then Joe Moore appeared. His band immediately nicknamed him "Immortal woman" or "Immortan Alice".

cult of immortal alice

Immortan Alice became a god-like figure to the War Girls, who regard her as a goddess who leads them to an afterlife in Valhalla if they manage to impress her on the battlefield. Her worship reaches all the way to the Wretches, who, being at the bottom of this most twisted form of "civilization", flee to the Citadel to be offered water and a way into the Citadel if they are chosen by the Immortan herself.

The three fortresses of the moor

The harshness of that world blurred the boundaries of reality. People worshipped Alice as a goddess. Meanwhile, Alice rebuilt the aquifer into The Citadel and explored the land for resources. She reclaimed the Oil Refinery in the North and used it to produce guzzolene for her armada. Dubbed "The Gas City", it was run by the captured fat man who informed Immortan of the aquifer's location and became known as The People Eater, "calculating and calculating human." Immortan Alicia renovated the abandoned lead mine and turned it into The Bullet Farm, expanding the facility to function as a weapons, ammunition, and propellant factory, to fuel The Citadel's war effort against other gangs roaming the wasteland. She placed it under the command of her former gangmate Major Kalishnikov, now known as The Bullet Farmer. Collectively, these three strongholds were referred to as the "Triumvirate" in the comics narrative. In the prequel film, Furiosa, they were referred to as "The Three Strongholds of the Wasteland." And it was during the events of Furiosa that we witnessed Immortan Alice fight the warlord, Dementus, in a battle for power.

road rage

After seizing the Citadel from a group of thugs, Immortan Alicia understood first and foremost the power of the rock temple as a source of the Wasteland’s most valuable commodity—fresh water—as well as its strategic importance as a nearly impenetrable fortress. She also understood that any other faction in the Wasteland would eventually take it over. So it was no surprise when one day Warlord Dementus and his horde of bikers arrived at the proverbial Citadel gate with demands: “Bring me your leaders and strike them down. You will rule with me in the splendor of a new Wasteland,” Dementus promised. This new threat did not faze Immortan Alicia or his coterie of leaders; he remained calm and collected as he showed Dementus what he was up against by quickly dispersing the biker horde.

road rage part 2

However, Dementus was not to be intimidated. He eventually captured Gastown from the Gastown Warden and then demanded a meeting with Immortan. Immortan had no plans to negotiate with Dementus until the young upstart threatened to destroy Gastown if he did not return safely after negotiations, citing that it is equipped with explosives that only he can defuse with a six-digit code. Immortan Alicia listened with great patience to Dementus's rantings and eventually negotiated a shrewd deal that was far less than what Dementus demanded. In the process, Immortan Alicia negotiated the acquisition of a valuable "Organic Mechanic" as well as a young girl who would grow up to be the very trustworthy Imperator Furiosa. As Furiosa's chronicles unfolded, Dementus grew increasingly dissatisfied with the deal he had negotiated, feeling cheated and unfairly blamed for the fiasco; his men blamed him and openly rebelled to the point of going rogue. It was under these dire circumstances that Dementus hatched a plan to seize Bullet Farm with his sights set once more on the Citadel. However, it was the Praetorians, Jack and Furiosa, who discovered Dementus' plot. Furiosa, missing her left arm, returned to the Citadel to warn Immortan Alice and his lieutenants, particularly his sons Scrotus and Rictus, who reacted with fury. However, it was Immortan Alice who kept a cool head and listened attentively to what Furiosa had to say.

road rage part 3

This led Immortan Alicia to come up with a cunning plan to trick Dementus into believing that he was sending forces to Gastown. This cunning ploy worked in fooling Dementus and the two warlords engaged in one of the longest and bloodiest road wars which was later dubbed "The Forty Day War in the Wasteland" in which Immortan Alicia and her War Girls emerged victorious.

appearance and personality 1

In her prime, Alice was a very large and imposing woman. She often wore her trademark gas mask and had long, black or dark brown hair, combed back and tied with a bandana over her forehead. She wore a very rough, sleeveless leather jacket, with the embroidered epaulette decoration that military officers often wore on her left shoulder, while her right shoulder was protected with metal armor. Under her quasi-military jacket she wore a simple, black sleeveless t-shirt. Alice was resourceful, ruthless, determined, but perhaps above all else, she was an idealist. Alice had a vision for the future. Alice was not content to simply pillage the wasteland to survive. No, instead she sought a future; a legacy that she could leave behind once she passed on. It is this vision, this ideology, that led to her fate with the aquifer. Through sheer determination and willpower, Alice was able to gather around her a small army of strong, ruthless women. She was intelligent enough to know the importance of the Citadel's water supply, as well as the oil refinery and lead farm that were located nearby. After years of hard work, Alice was able to build her band of raiders and marauders into a small empire, boasting a mechanized army of fanatical warriors, clean water, irrigated crops, oil refineries, and a weapons and ammunition factory. A small island of civilization, however barbaric, in an otherwise desolate wasteland. Before age weakened him, Immortan Alice was truly the very picture of a wasteland warlord, able to take on dozens of men when she first took the Citadel as her own.

appearance and personality 2

In her later years, Alice slowly grew into an older woman of robust build; with long white hair and piercing blue eyes. Her health is failing. She appears to have breathing problems, but due to her rank in society, she breathes clean air through a respirator mask (decorated with horse teeth to resemble a skeletal jaw) connected to a large breathing apparatus (resembling a bellows) which she wears over her shoulders and hidden behind her head. Alice covers herself from head to toe in white powder to ease her pain [2], giving her a ghostly pallor that is mimicked by the War Girls (this makeup design was inspired by Indian holy men [3]). She wears bulletproof plexiglass armor, which is adorned with various service medals and molded to give her a muscular appearance. Her elaborate costume is designed to both aid her weakened body and conceal it from the prying eyes of The Wretched and the War Girls. It is also used as a means of intimidation. Alice displays many traits typical of cult leaders and dictators. He is a great public speaker, delivering lofty speeches to gain the loyalty of his subjects. He regularly demonstrates his control over the resources of The Citadel, constantly reasserting his dominance over the populace. He commands a horde of fanatical warriors who worship and follow him without question, even going so far as to sacrifice their lives for his every whim. In return, he offers them the promise of eternal life with him in Valhalla. Her body is still strong and toned with large breasts and a plump, firm ass with short white-gray hair, she has an excellent physique and an almost milf-like body. Her height is 2.40m.

appearance and personality 3

Despite his totalitarian nature, Joe appears to have an altruistic side. He sincerely believes that he is doing the right thing for society within The Citadel: rationing water, growing and distributing crops, capturing "blood bags" (enslaved individuals used as blood donors) for medical use, and implementing a "breeding program" to produce an heir who would continue the legacy he built. [4] He has great affection for his wives, but treats them as objects rather than people, referring to them as his "treasures". In the comic Mad Max: Fury Road, he considers the wives to be ungrateful for what he apparently sincerely considers generosity. He seems to think that keeping the wives imprisoned as sex slaves is actually in their best interest, and considers them spoiled when they verbally rebel. Nonetheless, he still shows great concern for the well-being of his wife and especially his children. He is not so cruel as to risk her safety, a weakness that was exploited when his wives finally managed to make a daring escape from their Citadel.

appearance and personality part 4

Alice's sexual tendencies are covered much more in the comics and it is suggested that they are unusual. In the presence of his wives, he refers to himself as "Mama", asking Cheedo to sit on his lap like a child and seemingly enjoying the age difference between him and his husbands. Toast also comments that during one of his rapes he had penetrated her anally rather than vaginally. This suggests that while Alice considers obtaining a healthy heir a high priority, she still uses sex with the wives to some extent just for pleasure. It is also hinted in the comic that she may have a hidden attraction to children. The husbands tease her by saying that he would rather sleep with a War Girl than her, and the History Man narrating the comic shares this sentiment. In support of this claim, Alice has been seen in the comics encouraging the War Girls to refer to him as "Mama", a parallel to how she speaks to her husbands. For example, he is seen in his own origin comic telling the War girls "mama loves you."
