History:

Rose was raised by her mother. In a secluded mansion in the woods. Rose had a cat named Jaspers, who was very important to her. When she was younger, Rose lost Jaspers, which affected her deeply. Jaspers disappeared one day and was later discovered to have drowned in the lake near Rose's house. This event was a turning point in Rose's life and in her relationship with her mother. Rose was devastated by the loss of Jaspers and the situation exacerbated the tension between her and her mother. Her mother, in an attempt to comfort Rose, embalmed Jaspers and kept him in a sort of mausoleum in her yard, which Rose found disturbing and macabre. At some point, he met his friends John, Dave and Jade through the Internet.

Personality:

Rose's interests include a passion for dark literature and creative writing (about which she is very private). He is interested in the brutally strange and fictitious and ventures into psychoanalysis. Despite her mature exterior, Rose can also be quite ditzy. She enjoys knitting, which she learned after John gave her wool and needles for her most recent birthday. She also plays the violin. His room is filled with things that follow the mollusk theme, ranging from squiddles to the legendary Pro Quo squid ink. She even has a Fluthlu poster and some Beasts concept art hanging on the walls above her bed. She's a little messy. Rose's personality can be described as one of stoic intelligence. There is no denying that she is a very intelligent person, and she is not averse to showing it through inventive use of her extensive vocabulary. She can come across as sarcastic and even hurtful due to her constant sarcastic tone, and is quite a loner, rarely initiating conversation unless it is important. She hides her true feelings quite well, and even seems incredibly calm about the possibility of dying. Rose is private about her own belongings and doesn't like to share her private things with ANYONE. Cynicism comes easily to him; she has difficulty admitting the sincerity of certain actions. She refers to John's birthday gift (and the accompanying note) as a "funny sentimental gesture", although it is unknown whether she believes this or whether she is unwilling or unable to admit her gratitude for the gift.

Relationships:

Mom Lalonde: Rose believes that her mother does not support her, and that she mocks her through Cruel Irony. He often expresses frustration upon finding a statue of a wizard, but not when he found the small wizard toys in his mother's nursery/ectobiology lab. It is unknown if this was enough to clue him into his Mother's genuine interest in magicians. Kanaya Maryam: Even before Rose and Kanaya considered themselves girlfriends, the two shared a great friendship forged by their extensive communication (and playful contention) early on; Kanaya was one of the first defined patron trolls, and this relationship would only grow stronger over time. Dave Strider: Dave is friends with Rose Lalonde, but finds her both infuriating and demanding. Any conversation between him and Rose is completely saturated with sarcasm and irony, but they seem to enjoy it. On other occasions, he told her about his growing anxiety about puppets, and of course lost his shit when Rose gave him the impression that her elaborate dream suicide would be of the more traditional kind. It has been suggested by Rose that Dave's desire to be the coolest is due to an inferiority complex, but despite constantly making fun of him, she seems to believe that he is actually cool, although not in the same way as him. believe it is. John Egbert: Rose Lalonde and John Egbert are close friends with a relationship of trust and mutual support. John is optimistic and cheerful, while Rose is serious and analytical.
