Adar

The First Epoch

Adar was one of the first elves (if not the first) whom Morgoth perverted in the dungeons of Utumno back in the Years of the Ancients to create a new race, the Orcs. Subsequent generations of Orcs considered Adar their father and willingly followed him. After Morgoth's defeat, Adar first served Sauron for his purposes, to find a way to conquer other life forms. However, disappointed by Sauron's cruelty towards the orcs, Adar turned against Sauron and claimed to have killed him. For many years, Adar remained the leader of the surviving Orcs, albeit secretly.

The Second Epoch

Adar first became known to other peoples of Middle-earth in the Second Epoch, appearing in an Orc trench camp under the control of Magroth, immediately after Arondir's unsuccessful attempt to arrange a fight and escape. While Arondir is being restrained after stabbing Magroth in the neck, Lurka orders him to be brought to Adar. Elsewhere in the camp, the "Lord Father" appears as the orcs part ways, and his face is barely visible until the end of the episode. He carefully cares for the dying Magroth, who was mortally wounded while trying to escape the elves, before suddenly ending his suffering with a dagger. When the rest of the orcs leave, Adar speaks to Arondir after learning that the Wood Elf's birthplace is in Beleriand. Adar recalls his days on the Sirion River, although he evades Arondir's own questions before releasing Arondir to deliver a message to the Southerners who have taken refuge in the watchtower of Ostirit: that they can live if they leave the territory and swear allegiance to him. Later, when he watches one of the wargs in the cage devour fresh flesh, Grugzuk informs Adar that the hilt of the sword they are looking for is in the watchtower. Some time later, Grugzuk informs Adar that the tunnel is ready and their forces are ready. The "Lord Father" asks his servant to hold his hand in the sun to emphasize, by burning the skin of the orc, his statement that the sunlight will soon be eclipsed. He then frees Grugzuk, ordering him to summon the legions. Later, temporarily encamped in Tirharad, Adar is approached by a group of former villagers led by Waldreg, who seek to swear allegiance in exchange for their lives and higher status. After Waldreg's suggestion that his new master was actually Sauron, whom he had been waiting for a long time to swear his immortal service, Adar expressed his disappointment at the old man's persistence and audacity, throwing him to the ground and giving him a dagger to seal his oath of allegiance, claiming that only blood
