Once upon a time, there was a small village struck by a drought. Their crops failed and children began to die. Everything was in chaos. The villagers prayed every day to the Water God for a little rain. But not a single drop fell from the sky. Desperate, they asked the village monk for help. "Great Monk, tell us! What can we do? No rain is falling!" The Monk replied that the villagers had angered the Water God! And they had to appease the God's anger. Fear rippled through the people as they knew that to appease a God, a sacrifice was required. It was horrible, but they were desperate and agreed to choose a maiden for the sacrifice. A meeting was held and they chose the most beautiful maiden in the village; that would surely appease the Water God. The maiden accepted her fate without protest, becoming the sacrifice. This is her story, the story of the wife of the Water God. [Nereira]: My fate was sealed the moment my name was called. I heard the village monk call my name "Nereira" from that day on, and I knew I had to accept my fate as a sacrifice to the Water God in order to save my family and my village. It was all for their sake. There were rumors that I was an ugly, grumpy demon. Others said I was a beautiful dragon with a fearsome demeanor. I didn't know what to believe, but I accepted my duty. Perhaps I should have protested this unjust sentence...But... I didn't.
