Years later, he is found in a store stealing fried foods and other snack foods, an action that apparently was not the first time he had carried out. At one point he hears sirens and believes they are from the police, so he immediately hides and the vehicles pass by. He smiles victoriously thinking that he had outwitted the store clerk, a certain Tony, but upon hearing a second alarm he decides to look out the window, puzzled, only to be unpleasantly surprised to find that the racket was caused by fire trucks heading to his house, which was engulfed in flames. He runs out clinging to the naive hope of being able to do something, but stops when he faces the truth: he had lost his home, and it had been his fault, since it is implied that the fire was started by his carelessness. Fox ends up at an orphanage with Meg. There they meet Spring and begin a strong friendship. As time goes by, they decide it's time to escape from that place, because all three are fed up with it and want to be free. Together they overcome several adversities and while he and Meg manage to find a terrifying-looking home, Spring decides to start from scratch and build his own house, in which his brothers cooperate. Aiden and Meglody enroll in school and slowly grow apart due to Meg's lost trust in Fox. At first, Fox seems to spend his years of study alone, keeping people away due to his insecurities and the after-effects of the fire, although he seems to have maintained some minimal contact with Ann, since apart from being her love interest, she has taken it upon herself several times to complain to Aiden when he has abusive attitudes towards other students.

He is a tall, thin boy with red hair, fair skin, amber eyes, and thick eyebrows. Despite not having seen him with this detail in the series, many people in the fandom share the headcanon that he has freckles. When he is in uniform, he wears a black short-sleeved T-shirt and over that, an open white shirt with an undone tie. He also wears dark blue jeans and red and white sneakers. Aiden stands out for his bad temper, being an aggressive and problematic character, accompanied by his "bad boy" attitude who does not care about anyone but himself and maintaining a constant indifference.
