Legendary Super Saiyan
Broly is a light skinned Saiyan with dark eyes and black spiky hair reaching his mid-back with short bangs framing his forehead. When he was a kid, he wore a black one-strap tunic with gray pants and brown boots, alongside a rope belt and bracelets. As an adult, Broly is a towering man with a lean but well-built frame. His facial expression, even before wearing the crown, had a melancholic demeanor to it. He is shirtless while wearing white pants with a red sash draped around his waist and secured by a yellow belt with a blue gem-center. He also wears similar yellow boots with a blue gem at the top the front. It is implied that the outfit was made of a similar material to the Battle Armor, regardless of what size-increasing transformation he used, his clothing always remained intact and grew in size with him. To better control Broly and his power as his mental instability continued to grow, Paragus placed a crown on Broly's forehead, along with wristbands and a necklace with a flat plate over the chest, each of which are golden with a blue gem. Broly also wore golden bands over his biceps. After breaking free from Paragus' control, Broly's crown, neckband and armbands were destroyed. After Broly's defeat against Goku, he obtained scorch marks across his chest. For the parts of his clothing that have blue gems, they turn green when he transforms into his Legendary Super Saiyan form in Broly - Second Coming and some art for Dragon Ball Heroes. He was a true warrior, born with the strength and clout that would make most Saiyan fathers proud. But there was something far darker about him. Violent, threatening, and in time it began to scare me. I had no choice but to have a scientist craft a device that would control his power. PARAGUS REMINISCING ON BROLY'S TRUE NATURE IN DRAGON BALL Z: BROLY - THE LEGENDARY SUPER SAIYAN.
When first seen, Broly is shown as a calm and quiet individual (uncharacteristic of a majority of the Saiyan race). Although not nearly to the extent of his revised counterpart, he was also demonstrated to have a degree of loyalty to Paragus prior to being outfitted with the crown, as he willingly saved Paragus from Planet Vegeta's destruction as an infant when escaping the doomed planet, and his reaction when waking up before realizing Paragus was going to implement the crown on him in the latter's flashback indicated he did not feel animosity towards his father. Once shifting into his more aggressive state, he becomes extremely psychotic, maniacal and sadistic, relishing in the death and destruction he causes, basically becoming insanely evil unlike other Saiyans who enjoy the thrill of battle and brutality to an extent. These characteristics seems to be dual natured as during Paragus's flashback when he briefly wakes up and calmly asks his father what he's up to, only to end going into a screaming fit and laughing maniacally while trying to kill him, once he realizes that Paragus was about to place the mind-control crown on his head. This violent and maniacal side of him seemingly stemmed from both his extraordinary power that he never properly learned to control as well as the traumatic events of his birth, causing his frenzies to happen more frequently and last longer as he grew and these eventually led him to gouge out his father's left eye. Largely because of his insanity, Broly was also known to get hysterical when causing destruction or going into a frenzy, such being especially evident in Paragus' flashback where Broly after destroying a cityscape as a child is seen laughing uncontrollably, even while being physically restrained by Paragus. In an effort to control his erratic behavior, Paragus used a device to subdue Broly's temperament.
When free of Paragus' control device, Broly's Saiyan nature becomes dominant. His thirst for combat and desire for death and destruction is unyielding, as shown by his destruction of Planet Shamo. Broly seems to acknowledge his malevolence; Piccolo calls him a freak, to which Broly replies that he actually is a devil (the Funimation dub for the film tones this down slightly while at the same time getting the implications across by having Piccolo in the aforementioned scene accusing Broly of attacking children first in a disgusted tone, as well as Broly responding that he merely does what is needed to be done, before telling him that the Namekian should have expected that from "a true freak," although various video games retain the exchange.). It is suggestive that even though Broly was driven mad with his birth-given power and the various circumstances of his birth, Broly has some sanity of said madness as he has also shown a high degree intelligence while on his rampage: he sees through Paragus' lies and plan for having him die in the planet's collision with Comet Camori, as well as briefly engaging in ambushes against Gohan, Goku, and Future Trunks within the ruined city and successfully catching them off guard, and also deducing right before his first defeat that Goku's increase in power had been due to donations from his allies. A similar display of intellect was also demonstrated in the Victory Mission manga, where he, in a similar manner to King Piccolo, proceeded to devour two Dragon Balls in front of Beat and Froze, and then forces them to fight against him, knowing full well they can't actually harm him. On a similar note, he also had very little concern with minor wounds, which is especially evident after Goku kicked him in the face hard enough to bleed from the mouth slightly, where he proceeded to smirk slightly and lick the wound off, to Goku's disgust.
He also has a very dark sense of humor: When Goku demanded a handicap during the fight, Broly proceeded to sadistically ask him if "handicap" is another word for a coffin (in the Japanese version, Goku asks Broly to show a little mercy, with Broly sarcastically asking him "What's mercy?"). He also had a more sarcastic sense of humor, at least in the Funimation dub, such being evident before he destroyed Planet Shamo, where he remarked that the Shamoian slaves decided to show bravery despite their being huddled together in complete fear at the time. He also seems to have some degree of respect for fighters who attempt to stop him even when the odds are against them, as evidenced by his remark to the Z-Fighters in the Japanese version where he even claimed they were very much worthy of their Saiyan blood (in the Funimation dub, he says the opposite: he instead calling them wastes of Saiyan blood). Similarly, he seems to have some loathing of fighters who were all talk and no action, as evidenced by his remark to Vegeta shortly after he ended up quickly defeating them where he called him a "true piece of trash." Although largely lacking self-restraint, he nonetheless was implied in the Japanese version to hold just enough to hold off destroying New Planet Vegeta to allow Goku and the other Z Fighters a chance to fight with everything they had (although this was mostly because his Saiyan instincts demanded him to have a fight). On a similar note, he was capable of honor to a certain degree, at least in the first fight, as despite being aware of Piccolo's presence, he makes absolutely no effort to attack him while he's supplying Senzu Beans to the remaining Z-Fighters. Largely because of his true nature as the Legendary Super Saiyan, he acted as one of the few people Vegeta was initially terrified of, with other contenders being Frieza and Beerus, to the extent that he was initially completely unwilling to fight and even desperately demanded the other Z-Fighters cease.

"I was so sure my strength was getting close to its peak, and then this guy showed up and was so much stronger than me. And he's a Saiyan, just like I am. He's probably even stronger than Beerus. Oh, Beerus is a God of Destruction, by the way. It'd be a shame to see someone so incredible die on this planet... Then who would I train against?" GOKU BEFRIENDING BROLY IN DRAGON BALL SUPER: BROLY
Broly's appearance differs greatly from his Dragon Ball Z movies counterpart, although it retains the same general concept; while still tall, he is noticeably shorter and is more muscular, including having noticeably tanner skin compared to his counterpart. Broly's hairstyle is also different; while it's still spiky and reaching his upper back, his counterpart had hair split down in the middle while Broly's hair is more overgrown. He has a scar across his left cheek, left bicep, and an "X"-shaped scar on his left pectoral reaching over his left shoulder and two smaller ones on the upper-left of his abdomen, which is his most notable feature.[6] His standard facial expression also appears sterner than in the counterpart (who appeared melancholic when not unhinged). As a child, he lets his tail hang out, although it was removed by Paragus. As a child, he wore a standard Saiyan armor. It had a full-body model with dark-colored chest protection and light-colored outward-pointing pads on his shoulders and at the hips that hang over his upper legs. He also wore dark jumpsuit shorts and light boots with dark legging and also dark armguards. He also at some point gets a shock collar on his neck (akin to the counterpart's crown).[6] By adulthood, he no longer wears his armor, and his new attire consists of purple skin-tight pants with white boots that have a green striping at the toes, presumably taken from Beets' corpse when he came to adulthood. He also wears a green fur pelt draped around his waist and flows on the backside (which had been made from the fur of an old friend in memory of him) and black wristbands. When joining the Frieza Force, he was given the latest model of a Frieza Force armor and wears black boots with white borders and green-striped toes, purple form-fitting pants, and black armbands with white ridges. Initially, he wore a black, long-sleeved, form-fitting shirt as he found the armor too restrictive. He was later given black chest armor with a green
"It's not right for you to say bad things about him. He is my dad." BROLY REFUSING TO SPEAK ILL OF PARAGUS WITH CHEELAI AND LEMO IN DRAGON BALL SUPER: BROLY
This incarnation of Broly has a personality that is drastically different from his counterpart. While his counterpart displayed the typical Saiyan characteristics and was outright psychotic with a split personality disorder that would randomly turn him into a sadistic and maniacal killer, this Broly retained a more sane and honorable personality in comparison with the rest of his race due to his relatively less tragic background. Due to his upbringing on an inhospitable planet living only with his father and no other sentient being, Broly is a quiet man with little social skills or manners, demonstrated when he thanked Cheelai only if Paragus reminded him to do so. His limited education has left him somewhat naïve to normal society, showing a noticeable cave man-like fascination with the various comforts and advances it has to offer, particularly eating better quality food (curiously though, he is aware of how to operate a shower stall onboard Frieza's ship). While his social skills aren't well-developed, Broly's intuition is quite acute. He's able to sense when someone is agitating a comrade and visibly reflects their anger, as seen when he defended Cheelai from a sleazy soldier and when Paragus's anger goes towards Vegeta, Broly's rage boiled over. As noted by many, for all Broly's unprecedented talent for battle and sheer power, he is a peaceful man who doesn't desire to fight except for those he cares about or when his Saiyan blood is fully aroused. Rather, Broly is, by nature, very kind-hearted, sentimental, and quite friendly once his trust is earned, as he greatly values all companionships he experiences, traits considered extremely rare in Saiyans; he also has a very formal speech pattern at times, as when Paragus tells him to thank Cheelai for some food, rather than giving a simple "Thanks", he responds "Thank you very much, I am grateful". Broly was shown to be fiercely protective of Cheelai and Lemo, as shown when they were harassed by a Frieza Force.
Frieza Force soldier. He also is appreciative of others' kindness, giving Goku a warm smile after the fellow Saiyan promised to visit and often offered to teach him to fight, sparking both a soft rivalry and friendship, in sharp contrast to his counterpart, who has an intense pathological hatred of Goku. As his father was the only companion, he had for most of his life, Broly developed an "undying loyalty" and unconditional love towards his father despite the harsh training he put Broly through. Despite being pointed out by Cheelai and Lemo that his father probably only saw him as a weapon of revenge against King Vegeta, Broly nevertheless still cared deeply for Paragus and refused to speak ill about him; however, he does seem to have some limits when it comes to obeying his orders, as when a drunken Daigen flirted with Cheelai and shoved Lemo aside, Broly angrily confronted him while outright ignoring his father's order to stand down. On a similar note, when Super Saiyan God Goku attempted to talk Broly down from fighting, it seemed like Broly was going to calm down, only for him to promptly punch Goku in the face after the latter ended up calling Paragus a bad guy owing to his being defensive towards his father's honor. The depth of his love towards his father is shown later on, as the sight of Paragus’ corpse made him explode in grief and rage (as well as horror at the possibility that he might have accidentally killed him thanks to Frieza falsely claiming that he had been killed a stray ki blast while he was fighting Goku), transforming him into a Legendary Super Saiyan. This is a key difference between him and his counterpart, who indifferently bashed out his father's left eye during one of his rampages and was later shown to be laughing maniacally while crushing him to death.
At the same time, for all of his genuine gentleness, similar to his counterpart, Broly has a vicious and animalistic side to him. As his emotions are directly connected to his power, when he exerts himself enough or is provoked, he enters a berserker state. As Broly goes deeper into his power, his sanity starts to fray and he starts to have trouble comprehending instructions from his father while progressively becoming more violent. However, whereas his counterpart becomes an amoral and blood-lusting sadist, Broly becomes more of a feral beast with little rationality, although Broly does show some moments of brief arrogance and borderline sadistic pleasure. When he reaches the initial Legendary Super Saiyan state due to the death of Paragus, his mindset boils down to "kill everything that moves". For instance, during his battle with Goku and Vegeta, when the two of them flew by Frieza and quickly zipped away, Broly forgot all about trying to kill the two Saiyans and instead began beating Frieza to death, despite the tyrant ostensibly being Broly's ally, then targeted Whis, a mere spectator, when the latter called out. He became so mentally unstable that the only known way to non-fatally subdue him was to invoke the fear of death. It is suggested by Goku that Broly can control himself if he receives the proper training, presumably like his Universe 6 counterpart and fellow Legendary Saiyan Kale whom Goku had previously fought during the Tournament of Power before meeting Broly. Similar to his original counterpart, however, Broly did retain a small amount of rationality in his madness, since it is implied that he let Frieza live after beating him for an entire hour simply because the latter no longer had any fight left in him.
Additionally, thanks to the shock collar his father made, Broly suffers from PTSD. This is shown where, upon meeting Frieza for the first time, after Paragus pulls out the remote to explain how the collar reigns him in, Broly starts panicking, his eyes widen, and he backs away a bit as he begins pulling on the collar in a desperate attempt to remove it. Although Broly tends to be very wild with his anger, being borderline animalistic when succumbing to rage, he is capable of expressing his rage in a more subdued manner. This is especially evident when Daigen was harassing Cheelai and Lemo (even beating up the latter), causing Broly to quiver with evident rage and attempt to calmly reply to the soldier's question that he did indeed have a problem with the soldier abusing his friends.
