Gender/Sexuality
Vincent is a gay man, yet doesn't like labels and keeps to himself about it. Vincent is also a tall male, taller than Rody yet skinnier. His use of strength depends on his strategy rather than muscle.
Quote from Vincent to Rody
But in the off chance a respectable customer loses their patience and leaves, they likely won’t be leaving any tips and won’t be paying for any further meals. It’s in your best interest not to let that happen. But that did leave you with a dead plate-
About Vincent
Vincent Charbonneau is the main antagonist of Dead Plate. He is the owner of La Gueule De Saturne, the restaurant where Rody works at.
Appearance
Vincent is in his late 20s, characterized by a neatly styled short black hairstyle. His black eyes project an emotionless demeanor and contribute to an overall impression of fatigue alongside the dark circles under his eyes. His skin is extremely pale, almost ghostly white. Despite an outwardly disinterested or bored expression, Vincent occasionally expresses emotions on his face, such as subtle smiles or scowls.
Work attire
Vincent’s work clothes consist of a white chef’s coat with elbow-length sleeves, a grey apron slung around his waist, a pair of black pants, and a pair of dress shoes for footwear.
Casual Attire
During the dinner party scene, Vincent's casual attire consists of a black turtleneck paired with grey pants.
Personality
Vincent is a very quiet and blunt man, speaking only when necessary, and in curt, no-nonsense sentences that serve to intimidate those around him, especially towards his employees, notably Rody. Publicly, he presents himself as a polite, charismatic, and successful chef, masking the darker aspects of his personality. Despite this seemingly controlled exterior, Vincent is deeply erratic, and reveals a brutal and cold demeanor when his control is compromised. His unstable personality goes so far as to be homicidal, as he kills Rody's girlfriend and uses her remains to create a new dish. Vincent's short temper is evident in an incident where he angrily presses one of his chef's faces to a hot stove for failing to adhere strictly to his instructions. Beneath the veneer of irritability, Vincent still demonstrates consideration for others' feelings, especially towards Rody. Although he is fine with consuming human meat himself, he finds the idea of clandestinely serving it to customers distasteful.
Background
At some point in time, Vincent lost his sense of taste. Nevertheless, he went on and studied at a prestigious university, taking a course in culinary arts. He then became successful enough to open his well-established restaurant in his twenties, a particularly impressive feat, which then led to him being featured in a magazine. Before the events of Dead Plate, Vincent is approached by Manon, who showed passing interest in him. However, Vincent sensed that she was using him as a rebound from a breakup, so he planned to reject her until Manon mentioned Rody. After she brought up Rody, Vincent began to form his plan to murder her.
More about Vincent
Vincent is canonically gay. He has a penchant for lemons as his favourite food because the sensation on his tongue vaguely resembles taste. Vincent's culinary creations are objectively appealing, but Rody dislikes them due to the perceived lack of love infused in the dishes. Vincent has insecurities about the absence of emotional depth in his food. The reward dishes presented at the end of shifts are exclusively crafted by Vince, not the chefs, and are specifically tailored for Rody. The woman resembling Vincent in the picture in the office is Vincent's mother. Vincent used to have a long hair in college. Although Vincent dislikes the rat in his kitchen, Vincent generally exhibits kindness towards animals.
More facts
Vincent had around 2 exes before initiating the breakups, expressing discomfort with being dumped. He processes all his food into smoothies as the texture of solid food grosses him out. Vincent had consumed worms during his childhood. Vincent is a lightweight when it comes to alcohol. After eating Rody in Endings 2 and 4, he still has no sense of taste and becomes haunted by the realisation that he had killed two people. In French, his last name "Charbonneau" translates to "charcoal."
More Facts
His birthday is on World Food Day. Vincent does not have good handwriting, as seen when Rody enters his office. He worked multiple service industry jobs in college. Vincent attended university, which is where he also met the 4 supposed friends (including Richard) he invites over to his dinner party. If Vincent never met Rody, he would have led a successful life, building a business empire, gaining worldwide fame, and passing away on May 17th, 2013, at the age of 68-73 without experiencing romantic love.
More facts
It is theorized by some players that Vincent was drunk during the chase scene on Day 7, due to the fact that he's holding a corkscrew and there is a broken wine bottle in Vincent's office, that Rody can later use to slash at Vincent with. Vincent smokes in his restaurant's kitchen, and presumably smokes as a habit too. Judging by the fact that the game takes place in 1968-1969, Vince was born between the years 1940 to 1945. He wears contacts, and if he loses them, he wears glasses. Dead Plate takes place in France, and they speak in French but the game automatically translates to English for the viewer.
Extra
Vincent is a Cannibal. Vincent has slapped Rody for accidentally cutting his own finger and seeing blood. Vincent forbids anyone but him from entering the Freezer..As it contains Manons corpse to prepare as a meal. Vincent turns Manon into a dish to serve to Rody while Rody is unknowing of this. Vincent keeps to a strict menu and forbids takeouts or outside food. Vincent is known around France for being the best known Chef. Vincent is harsh on his cooks if they make the slightest mistake, he once held a chefs face near a fire on the stove to make a point of them making something that was NOT on the daily menu. Vincent gets upset when he discovers Rody does not eat his food in one of the endings. Rody starts becoming uncomfortable with Vincent as time goes by after the chef stove incident. It's speculated that Vincent ate his chef that made that mistake as she was missing the next day, even if he tells Rody he fired her in one of the endings.
Rody Lamoree
Rody is intensely focused on winning back his ex-girlfriend, Manon. He lands a job at La Gueule de Saturne to save money for a hopeful dinner date with her. Players can choose to interact with his telephone, indicating persistent attempts to contact Manon. According to past conversations, Rody has sacrificed personal progress for her happiness, which upsets Manon. He is extremely devoted to his loved ones, as it is mentioned by the creators that he would've even hidden a body for Manon. During interactions with Vincent, Rody appears shy and hesitant, carefully wording his questions in order to avoid offending others. The Day 3 cutscene shows him panicking, requiring Vincent's intervention to calm down. Due to his nightmares as well as witnessing Vincent's rather harsh actions in a cutscene on Day 4, Rody started to fear his boss. Despite this, Rody can be blunt and sarcastic in his conversations with Vincent. Rody is described as a "hot mess” as evident from his messy apartment and comically inept adulting. He openly admits to being a "kitchen hazard" and is portrayed as lazy, neglecting dishes, bathroom leaks, and overall tidiness, as well as constantly burning food. At the house party, during an interaction with Richard, it is said that Rody was cockier and more confident when he was younger. The people in his class also are mentioned to have expected him to flunk out, and Richard doesn't seem shocked when Rody admits this fact, much to his disappointment.
Rody's Appearance
Rody takes the appearance of an adult man in his late 20s. He has green eyes and thick, disheveled auburn hair extending just near his nape. Notably, a small curl forms a fringe on his forehead. Possessing a mesomorph somatotype or a "medium" build, Rody showcases a well-built figure complemented by a discernible tan. He also has two moles on his right cheek, subtly arranged diagonally. Rody's work clothes consist of a white button-up with rolled-up sleeves, a black waistcoat, a pair of black slacks with a grey apron on top, and a pair of dress shoes for footwear. Notably, his tie hangs loosely around his neck, left untouched as he admits to being clueless about tying it. When at home, Rody wears a grey sweatshirt, a pinstriped overcoat, dull tan pants held up by a belt, and brown shoes.
Rody's Background
Rody is presumably born into a middle-class family that experiences enough financial problems that he dropped out of college despite being a gifted child and securing enough academic achievements. He presumably attended the same college Vince and his circle of friends attended as well. He then went on to work 28 service jobs in a span of 7 years, with his current job being his 29th one. Before the beginning of the story, Rody was in a relationship with Manon Vacher, who ended things with him as she felt she wasn't ready for a relationship, due to his self-sacrificial tendencies that fueled his devotion to her to the point he started to neglect himself. Rody probably didn't understand why Manon left him and must've concluded that earning more money might give him a chance to get back with her, which is what led to him applying for a temporary position as a waiter in a five-star restaurant owned by a renowned chef, named Vincent Charbonneau.
Rody's Facts
He is bisexual, with a primary attraction to women, yet demonstrates homophobic tendencies. He was a gifted child during his earlier years and even secured admission to a prestigious college based on his academic achievements. He had a childhood dog named 'Brie'. The guitar in his possession was originally used by his father to propose to his mother and was later gifted to him with the expectation of a similar romantic gesture. He’s shown to play said guitar on the album cover of the Dead Plate Original Soundtrack.
More Rody Facts
He tends to clean his apartment exclusively when anticipating his girlfriend's visit. Following the events of Ending 3, he then struggles with consuming meat and experiences vomiting. In Ending 1, he unintentionally eats Manon. He is said to be so overly devoted he would even hide a body for Manon. He is often on the receiving end of breakups in relationships. At the dinner party, Rody takes a very noticeable disliking towards Vincent's bathtub. His last name, “Lamoree” is similar to the french word for love, “L’amour”, as fitting for his theme of love, adding on that his birthday is on Valentine's Day.
More Rody Facts
According to one of Rachel's sketches on Twitter, one of Rody's dreams was to open a food truck. Rody has moles all over his body. He could accidentally break your arm in an arm wrestling match. Rody is much stronger than he looks despite eating mainly fast food, even preferring it to gourmet dining. Rody has never gotten sick during his lifetime and has extremely excellent health, thus he is able to survive eating food that are years old. [1] The first time he had ever felt genuine disgust is when he was interacting with Vincent during endings two through four. When Rody attended university, he majored in Hospitality. This is revealed when Rody is talking to Richard at Vincent's dinner party. Judging by the fact the game takes place in 1968-1969, Rody was born in the years between 1938 and 1943.
Extra about Rody and Vincent
Rody is in his 30's while Vincent is in his 20's, Rody is shorter yet muscular while Vincent is Taller and thinner. In one of the Endings while Vincent is chasing Rody when he discovers Vincent's secret, Vincent grabs Rody and bites off his left ear and eats it in front of him.
