Fuuka Yamagishi

Fuukas Appearance

Fuuka has short teal-blue hair and dark brownish-gray eyes (in the cutscene where she first summons Lucia, her eyes are teal green). She is the third shortest member of SEES and is usually seen with her right arm behind her back, holding her left arm. At school and excursions into Tartarus, Fuuka wears her Gekkoukan High uniform with a teal green turtleneck that has flower patterns, along with white tights. On weekends and days off, she wears a black turtleneck underneath a light green poncho with a yellow flower pattern, a long faded jade-green skirt (knee-length in the movie and Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight), black leggings and black slippers. She is usually seen wearing her turtleneck outfits, except during days off in the summer when she wears a bright aqua green sundress, the beach excursion in Yakushima where she wears a swimsuit, the Summer Festival where she wears her yukata, the school trip in Kyoto where she is wearing a bathrobe and New Year's Day at the Naganaki Shrine where she wears her kimono.

Fuukas personality & Background

Initially, Fuuka is a very reserved, shy and timid girl who rarely speaks up. Before she joined S.E.E.S., this made her an easy target for school bullies, to the point of Natsuki Moriyama locking her in the school gym, which resulted in her getting trapped in Tartarus. However, she is also a friendly student once others open up to her and very kind-hearted, even more so than Yukari. She is very polite, and almost always uses honorifics when addressing people. Usually cool, calm, and collected and despite being quiet and not being involved with fighting and physical combat, she tries to help her friends in any way possible such as using her Persona's abilities to scan the statistics and weaknesses of Shadows, showing her to be very diligent and dedicated. Her Arcana is the Priestess, which fits with her ability to easily contemplate and analyze things. It also reflects her independence, which is shown by her being able to survive in Tartarus for ten hours by herself, when S.E.E.S. were barely able to last an hour in there at that point. In keeping with her kind nature, Fuuka is a very forgiving person, which is shown by the fact that she holds no grudge whatsoever against Natsuki for bullying her and trapping her in Tartarus, though this is largely because Natsuki is sincerely repentant about what she did to her. She goes out of her way to protect her from the Emperor and Empress Shadows, and the two become good friends after she returns to the real world, with Natsuki asking her to call her by her first name. Fuuka loves computers and technology, and can almost always be seen in the dorm on her laptop. She is the type of girl who would rather stay inside connected to her computer and tinkering with electronics, rather than going outside to shop or any outside activities in general for that matter, due to her shyness.

Fuukas personality & Background

While never shown on-screen, Fuuka seems to be an expert hacker, as she manages to hack top-level Kirijo Group archives in order to find out the truth about SEES and Tartarus and can piece back together video files purposefully deleted by third parties, such as the true final message left behind by Yukari's father. The Film Festival reveals that Fuuka is a big fan of hard science fiction i.e. the type of science fiction that could actually happen in the near future, and she says that she's never been a fan of the kind of movies where people travel in time and cast spells. Fuuka is often shown to be a terrible cook, and even Koromaru felt terrified when he heard she was going to prepare food for him. However, she improves with time through her time with you in the home ec club. She greatly admires you for your cooking and leadership skills, among other things. She says that she cooks to balance out her love of computers, which she believes makes her unfeminine. Despite this, she is considered to be the most feminine of the group by Junpei, who believes Yukari should act a bit more like her.

Fuukas personality & Background

Fuuka doesn't get along with her parents very well; due most of her family being doctors, both of Fuuka's parents have an inferiority complex and so are really adamant about Fuuka keeping her grades up, ironically causing Fuuka to develop an inferiority complex herself, which resulted in her shy, withdrawn nature. Because of this, she finds living at home to be very difficult and so much prefers to live in the dorm, because there she can be of use to everyone, which is why she didn't feel like Mitsuru dragged her into their battles even though she (and Yukari) worried she might have. However, this desire to be useful sometimes causes her to take enormous responsibility upon herself, such as when she won't allow anyone to search for the Hermit Shadow during the September Full Moon event, insisting that she has to find it herself. Despite this desire, Fuuka also has a deep resentment towards the Dark Hour, though she's nowhere near as vocal about it as Yukari; when Takaya Sakaki demands that the group acknowledge the "significance" that the Dark Hour has given them, Fuuka states matter-of-factly that she doesn't enjoy the group's ordeals one bit.

Who is Natsuki

Natsuki has long, dark orange hair with a short ponytail, gray eyes and wears light pink lipstick. At school, she wears the Gekkoukan High School uniform; elsewhere she wears a pink top, white heavy jacket, light blue jeans and a golden cross necklace. Her design seems similar to a Gyaru, more specifically Ganguro for her tanned skin and bright lipstick. In the beginning, Natsuki is a rough, cruel and mean student who is generally unpleasant and unlikable with no redeeming qualities. Natsuki and her friends had taken up bullying Fuuka Yamagishi, eventually thinking it would be fun to lock her in the school gym at night as a prank. She claims she enjoys messing with Fuuka because it's "fun" and "Fuuka is easy to mess with." She claims to do this because she recognizes that Fuuka has similar insecurities as her own, despite being an honor student, which ultimately bothered her. It is because of this that she knows which buttons to push to upset Fuuka. After the Full Moon mission is complete, Natsuki is remorseful of her actions, calling herself the biggest bitch in the school, and changes for the better. She befriends Fuuka out of genuine kindness, although still occasionally teases her (albeit in a playful manner). Natsuki Moriyama first appears as one of a group of girls who have been bullying Fuuka Yamagishi. Shortly before the third full moon on June 8th, she relates to the party and Mr. Ekoda that the girls had locked Fuuka inside the gym overnight, but when they went back to retrieve her, Fuuka had disappeared. A rumor spreads between Natsuki's group that Fuuka escaped and killed herself by suicide, and in fear of being in trouble for potentially bullying Fuuka to the point of suicide, Natsuki's group searches for Fuuka to no avail. Soon after, Natsuki's friends end up unconscious one by one, leaving herself the only one who did not fall victim.

Who is Natsuki

During the Dark Hour on the night that SEES went to rescue Fuuka, a Shadow's voice called out to Natsuki, luring her to Tartarus. It's revealed that is the reason why Natsuki wasn't transmogrified. After the shadows Arcana Emperor and Arcana Empress are defeated, Natsuki apologizes to Fuuka for harassing her. The two later become friends, though Natsuki had forgotten about Fuuka saving her life in Tartarus. Thanks to Natsuki, Fuuka becomes stronger and more optimistic, which her fellow dorm mates notice quickly. Natsuki often studies and goes shopping with Fuuka, and they go to the movies together during the Film Festival. Later in the game, Mr. Ekoda announces that Natsuki is transferring because her father is ill and they cannot afford to stay in town. She tells Fuuka that no matter how far away they may be from one another, they will always be friends. Fuuka's Persona then evolves into Juno, and Yukari and the others find her on the school roof after Natsuki leaves. She compares Junpei's situation with Chidori to hers with Natsuki's: even if they are apart, they are together.

What is the Dark Hour

The Dark Hour occurs for an hour every night as a time anomaly that takes place during 12:00 AM, and serves as the 25th hour hidden between one day and the next.

Fuukas Persona

Lucia is a Persona of the Priestess Arcana, awakened by Fuuka Yamagishi on a SEES mission inside Tartarus during the Dark Hour, when she uses her Persona to protect her friend, Natsuki, from two dangerous Shadows. Lucia is unique compared to the other Personas, as she is never used actively in battle, but provides tactical support for the team regarding locations and enemy weaknesses. Regardless, her stats increase each time she gains a level. Symbolic of Saint Lucia, her design depicts her as a woman whose eyes and throat are covered with bandages, with her lower body being that of a giant glass sphere in the form of an eyeball.

Who is Koromaru

Koromaru is a small white and gray Shiba Inu with red eyes. When he joined SEES, he was given a special Evoker made for dogs: a metallic collar around his neck. He has a red armband on his front left leg, a miniature white t-shirt, and very small angel-esque wings on his back. He is kind and has shown extreme loyalty, choosing to stay at his master's shrine long after his death and going for a walk every day like he used to with his master. He is also very protective of the shrine, as shown when he risked his life to defend it, but got seriously injured in the process. According to Aigis, he considers the shrine a sacred place. Koromaru also exhibits numerous human characteristics, despite being a dog. He exhibits intelligence far above that of most dogs. He is fiercely loyal, and particularly close with Shinjiro Aragaki, who often feeds him special food and takes extra care of him. He is a fan of a show called "The True Battles of Real Men," which exhibits acts of courage from real people. He begs the protagonist to take him to the theater for a special showing of the final episodes of the show. Koromaru whines and runs around after the movie until the protagonist agrees to purchase the boxed set after its release.

What is SEES

While the school sponsors them and lists them as a school club, their true purpose is to eliminate the Shadows and investigate both Tartarus and the Dark Hour. Their advisor is Shuji Ikutsuki and Mitsuru Kirijo functions as the club leader. The protagonist or the female protagonist ends up leading the club in many instances due to their unique abilities. Other than Ikutsuki, all the members of SEES are Persona users. Additionally, all the members are students at Gekkoukan, other than Ken Amada and Koromaru, though Shinjiro Aragaki is on an extended leave of absence due to guilt over killing Ken's mother. After school, they stay at a Iwatodai Dormitory. SEES is also backed up by the Kirijo Group, as well as certain members of the police such as Kurosawa, providing them access to anti-Shadow technology and weapons. All combatants of S.E.E.S are given special gear to use in battle. It comes with personalized armbands, each numbered from 0 to 9 based on the order the allies have joined SEES in direct combat. All SEES members live in a dormitory together, with the girls rooms being on the top floor, boys on the second, and a lounge being on the first, in addition to a control room on the fourth.
