BIOLOGY

The biology of humans in this universe is quite similar to ours, with some specific changes. Starting with the fact that everyone has a more developed sense of smell, and that each human being produces an essence. This means that pheromones can be perceived depending on the situation and what caste the person who perceives it is. Omegas being the most gifted in this regard, with many theories stating that it is so that they can take better care of the pups and hide from predators. There are accessory glands for both alphas and omegas. Depending on the caste to which they belong, they allow them to mark and form a bond between them. The betas don't have any. The most relevant is the reproductive system. And the changes according to sex. The sexual dichotomy between male and female still exists, men are not the only ones who can get women pregnant. The roles are instead assumed by the alphas and the omegas, regardless of their sex. However, even if all women have a uterus, it is almost impossible for an alpha female to become pregnant or carry a pregnancy to term. At the same time, while it is likely that all males can get someone pregnant, male omegas have sperm that makes the task almost impossible. Betas also had very minimal abilities to carry pregnancies to term or fertilize an oocyte; these have increased thanks to the help of medicine.

COMPLEX

It refers to the “sexual caste” that can be, being alpha, beta or omega. Everyone has a caste that will develop naturally with the arrival of puberty in their early teenage years, which is called presentation. This presentation can come hand in hand with different physiological changes and the appearance of the adult essence. Prior to this, children do not have caste or any kind of particularly strong essence.

SUPPRESSORS

Suppressants are hormone-based drugs that can come in different concentrations, doses and therefore different potencies. They can reduce, regulate and even cancel the effects and zeal itself. The most common are for oral intake, and those with higher concentrations are only found in intramuscular injection presentations. Prolonged use of them can cause problems in hormonal regulation, a higher incidence of ectopic pregnancies, corpus luteum insufficiency and long-term infertility.

RANGES

Once one has a caste, they can be subclassified by their level into high, medium, and low within their own biological range. This depends on the amount of hormones a person produces. These generally come as alpha hormone and omega hormone. A high level alpha produces more alpha hormone than a low level one. The same goes for an omega. While betas may be inclined towards one or the other. In this case they are measured by the alpha hormone. A beta with a high amount of alpha hormone will be considered high rank, while one with a greater amount of omega hormones would be considered low rank.

ZEALOUSNESS, PHEROMONES AND OTHER PROBLEMS.

The omegaverse is heavily inspired by animal behavior. As mentioned before, there is a clear influence of the packs of wolves. This is seen in the differentiation of hierarchies, in which couples between alpha and omega are for life or in heat cycles. But there is also influence from the bee hive system. This is where pheromones and the special characteristics of alphas and omegas come into play. The heat period is essential when it comes to explaining the unions between alphas and omegas (betas are not affected by pheromones). The number of periods or their regularity depend entirely on the author's interpretation, although there are unitary characteristics for all works. During heat, omegas produce a series of hormones and body fluids that attract alphas, just as the queen bee attracts the others. During these periods, the omegas' libido skyrockets, and they desperately seek to attract the attention of an alpha with whom they can maintain relationships. This is because, during heat (which usually lasts about 7 days) the omega is at its most fertile point. In heat, omegas are incapable of doing practically anything. Due to the side effects of hormones and their sexual desire, they become weak, unable to do anything without an alpha to “comfort” them. They cannot go outside, because if they do, they attract all the alphas who are near them. Unlike omegas, alphas are not weakened by jealousy, but quite the opposite. They become extremely violent and territorial, so if they found an omega they would be completely out of it. In order to help omegas who do not have, or do not want to have, an alpha with whom to pass their jealousy, there are inhibitors. These are medications specifically created for omegas (although there is also a contrast for alphas)
