Story
An architect and a distinguished graduate of Kshahrewar, Kaveh has a good reputation among darshan students. He is often considered a role model. Unfortunately, his career was not as smooth as one might have expected. The same can be said about other aspects of Kaveh's life. Halo, rumors, fame... all these are just accompanying trifles. In his skill, Kaveh goes beyond the ordinary. He puts all his strength into his work, striving for the perfect embodiment of the ideal of aesthetics and architectonics. The architect is not the final contractor of the construction work, but is responsible for all aspects, and therefore must carefully double-check all design details, safety and functionality of the building. As a leading expert in his field, Kaveh also focuses on the connection between art and humanism. For him, projects divorced from reality are classified as fantasies, and only projects that have true value should be implemented in life. It's hard to believe that such a brilliant architect could go bankrupt because of one single project. Fortunately, few people know about this, and most initiates keep it a secret. As for Kaveh himself, he is terribly afraid that his bankruptcy will become known. His life is far from ideal.
Story
The land of Sumeru is inexhaustible in talent; a whole galaxy of famous designers live here. But when it comes to architects, the first name people think of is Kaweh. A graduate of Kshahrewar, he is considered the best architect of recent decades. He is called the Torch of Kshahrevar. However, Kaveh himself does not take the praise seriously. Of course, fame and fame mean recognition, but sometimes they become a heavy burden for a person. Fame makes Kaveh doubly ashamed of his bankruptcy. It costs nothing for an ordinary person to admit that he is broke, but it’s a different matter when you are a famous architect: such admissions can simply ruin your reputation. Therefore, Kaveh avoids talking about his financial situation and pretends that his life is wonderful and carefree. Fortunately, people believe this, because he is an outstanding architect with a unique sense of beauty. Is it possible that the great Kaveh suffered from some everyday troubles?
Story
Even today, near the Alcazar Saray palace or within the walls of the Academy, one can hear the students of Xahrevar discussing Kaveh, their famous predecessor. For them, he is a genius, an outstanding architect who has had no equal over the past decades. Incredible skill allowed Kaveh to write his name in the annals of the Academy. When you meet students from Xahrevar, you will probably have to listen to how much they admire the achievements of their predecessor: how much is the Alcazar-Saray palace, built according to his design, worth. And the restoration of the iconic lighthouse in Port Ormos, and the reconstruction of the system of transport and lifting devices in the same Port Ormos! He was also the first to propose a method for environmental optimization of space! All these achievements have made Kaweh a household name when defining success in the architectural field. Many colleagues dream of such a career: a brilliant student who, immediately after graduation, was invited to work in a prestigious architectural bureau, and a few years later he founded his own business. This is where all the stories of the uninitiated usually end: no one knows the truth, which Kaveh himself is trying with all his might to hide. He is talented, this cannot be taken away, but Kaveh’s life, unfortunately, is far from the ideal that the uninitiated imagine. Summarizing his past experience, Kaveh would say this: misunderstandings are annoying, but inevitable. People sometimes find themselves captive to stereotypes. For example, they imagine that architects shovel away the pestilence and become famous with a couple of pen strokes on paper. In the eyes of people, any artist is a lazy, self-centered, hot-tempered and impulsive person who likes to boss others around. Kaveh does not fit this description.
Story
His projects take a lot of time and effort, and he takes his work very seriously. He dresses elegantly and sophisticatedly, but does not judge the merits of a project solely by the size of the reward. His professional principles are much stronger than those of most Sumeru residents; he considers architecture to be a derivative of art, but does not allow himself to sacrifice convenience and practicality for the sake of aesthetics. To ensure that a project combines beauty and functionality, Kaveh is willing to make some sacrifices... Sometimes he sacrifices unnecessary decor, sometimes his weekend, and sometimes... even compensation. Many years of hard work led him to success. The Alcazar Saray Palace was completed and Kaveh returned to Sumera crowned with glory. His colleagues endlessly praised the legendary palace on top of a large tree, marveling at the extraordinary imagination of its creator. They admired the combination of functionality and narrative, precision in detail and perfection of line, thanks to which the palace literally transformed the mountains among which it was built. No one dared to say that the Alcazar Saray was simply a successful adventure by Kaveh. And no one knew that excessive adherence to principles, combined with a series of failures on the project, led Kaveh to bankruptcy. The truth is hidden from people as reliably as the efforts that helped Kaveh achieve success.
Story
Kaveh was born into a classic family of scientists. His father graduated from Rtavahist and worked at the Academy, his mother once studied in Kshahrevare and was a famous architect in Sumeru, as Kaveh himself later was. Under the influence of his parents, Kaveh was interested in architecture and construction from early childhood. The three of them often sat in the living room, Kaveh played with blocks, and his parents rested. They could talk even without words and always remained a real family. Then Kaveh learned what family and home were. Happy times are soon over. Shortly before Kaveh entered the Academy, his father, succumbing to his persuasion, decided to take part in the Darshan Tournament. The tasks were not too difficult, and my father was considered the main contender for victory, but he still took second place, albeit with a small gap from the winner. And after the Tournament, the father disappeared, and soon terrible news came home: Kaveh’s father died in the desert. It was like a bolt from the blue. Kaveh's mother suffered especially greatly; she had always been a sensitive person, and her husband's departure completely broke her; she spent days and weeks in anxiety and melancholy. And every night in his dreams Kaveh saw his father smiling at him and promising that he would return home with gifts. Kaveh understood that his father would not have participated in the Darshan Tournament if he had not succumbed to his persuasion. And he would not have disappeared after the Tournament, and would not have died in the desert. But all the prayers were in vain: the past cannot be changed. The death of his father, the grief of his mother... All this happened because of words that he could no longer take back. From this day forward, he will always live in the shadow of his guilt. Mother said that father was a man with a kind heart and that life next to him was real happiness. After her father died, she never smiled again.
Story
Their once warm and bright home has become a collection of cold, deserted rooms. Kaveh often saw his mother sitting on the sofa, silently looking at her trembling hands. She couldn't draw anything anymore, even her thoughts were confused. At every moment like this, Kaveh felt like a giant hand was pressing him to the ground, he said to himself: “If it weren’t for me, everything at home would be completely different.” He was still very young and could change little. Tormented by guilt, he tried to spend as much time as possible with his mother, not to show his grief, supported her as best he could, although he knew that his support would not help much. In such a situation, Kaveh reached the age of admission to the Academy, passed the exams and was enrolled in the darshan of Kshahrevar. Naturally, this meant that from now on he would spend less time with his mother. Trying to distract herself, she went to Fontaine. There she received a job offer and upon returning to Sumeru she broke the news to Kaweh. Kaveh knew that he would be very lonely without his mother, but he still agreed and went to see her off on the day of departure. He looked for a long time after the ship left the harbor. He didn’t want to part with his mother, but he knew that it would be better for her to leave the region that brought her so much pain. Not wanting to upset his mother, Kaveh did not admit how lonely he was. He assured his mother that he had already grown up and was ready for an independent life. It was even worse when he woke up in the middle of the night from loneliness, pain or memories of a once happy family. This was a punishment for persuading his father to participate in the Tournament. It is he who is to blame for the grief that befell his family, which means the suffering is deserved. Similar thoughts haunted him day after day. It can be said that the family taught Kaveh to care for others, and also deprived him of the ability to harm anyone.
Story
Many years later, he discovered that he was trapped by his character and ideals: he wants to help anyone and everyone who asks him for help, and simply does not know how to refuse. And no amount of good deeds relieved him of his guilt. He is unable to show kindness to himself because he feels that he must be punished for any choice he makes. If Kaweh were depicted in sculpture, he would be a statue without a single visible flaw, which would completely collapse once a weak spot in its core was discovered.
Story
After graduation, Kaveh got a job in an architectural office under the guidance of other Kshahrevhar graduates and teachers. He had very little experience and found himself literally overwhelmed with complex projects. But Kaveh always considered himself a persistent person, and now he devoted all his time and energy to work. For two whole years he constantly bounced between different projects, working days and nights for others. Having gained experience, Kaveh left the architectural bureau and opened his own business; he had clients who liked his style. Many turned to him to develop an architectural project. This was the very beginning of his career, but thanks to hard work, Kaveh managed to save a decent amount. But Kaveh soon ran into difficulties. The market turned out to be much more pragmatic than they were taught at the Academy; here everyone was ruled by pestilence, and sometimes it was much more difficult to fulfill the requests of clients than to satisfy the demands of the mentors in Kshahrevar. In addition, new trends at the Academy also greatly interfered with Kaveh’s work. He began to understand that his friend was right: combining career and ideals is not at all easy. Scientific schools and currents in Sumeru were constantly changing, many scientists were open to criticism and reflection, and changes and improvements in the social order only contributed to the advancement of this way of thinking. Therefore, once revered objects could one day find themselves under a hail of criticism, as happened with printed books or works of art. But apart from the people involved, no one knew what fate befell the art workers at Sumera. As the importance of academic achievements grew, scientists began to pay more and more attention to pure science and applied technologies. Gradually, the ideas of the sages became radicalized, and the idea of the uselessness of art spread throughout society.
Story
Art workers became pariahs, and disciplines that were somehow related to art were simply discarded. Many of the projects in which Kaveh took part now looked more like an assembly line. His proposals were rejected by customers on the grounds that they “unnecessarily overload the object” and “all architectural elements must be exclusively functional.” Previously, he sought to combine aesthetics and utilitarianism in each of his projects. But now art became an object of ridicule, people denied the necessity and value of its existence. Therefore, Kaveh had almost no freedom in his work. He always considered architecture to be an art form and strongly disagreed with the popular opinion about its meaninglessness. But in his work he needed technical support and investment, so he could not break ties with those who thought differently, and especially could not freely express his opinion - this would entail the withdrawal of investments and cast a shadow on many of his colleagues. Kaveh's work forced him to betray his ideals, and he decided to take a long vacation. Returning home, he received a letter from Fontaine. The mother wrote that she had met a man with whom she wanted to spend the rest of her life, that she was going to marry him and was waiting for the wedding with trepidation and hope. Kaveh responded to the letter with sincere wishes for happiness and went to Fontaine to congratulate his mother on her new marriage. The wedding ceremony was simple and modest, and few guests came. At first, Kaveh was happy to see the smile on his mother’s face again, but then he felt strangely confused. His mother left him all her property in Sumeru. Returning to Sumera three days later, he felt with renewed vigor the emptiness in his parents' home. He lay on the sofa, feeling an unprecedented loneliness. Now he realized how right the wise scientists of the past were: “Live according to your conscience, even if you have to give everything you have for it.”
appearance
He still looks like a young man, although his face shows some signs of lack of sleep. He himself is blond, but he chose to diversify his image by slightly dyeing the ends of his hair in a darker shade, and his eyes are red-orange. Dressed in attire closer to the traditional one for his people: a white gemlek, on top of which is a yelek and the obligatory sash on his belt.
Personality/character
Being a creative person, Kaveh is very expressive in expressing emotions. If someone categorically disagrees with his idealistic point of view, then he will throw all his efforts into persuading, if not accepting, his worldview. Of course, he cannot understand the rationality of the thoughts of more collected people and defends to them the importance of an empathic approach to others.
