In her normal form, Yae has purple eyes and disheveled, dull pink hair tied at the bottom. She also has fox ears, though notably lacking a tail in this form, although they briefly appear as a set of five translucent tails when she uses the Supreme Secret Technique: Celestial Kitsune Embodiment. Yae wears a unique and stylized variation of clothing inspired by the colors of a shrine priest's traditional attire. She wears a gold head accessory accompanied by matching gold earrings. The right earring contains an Electro Vision wrapped in a complex drop-shaped piece and decorated with a small fan-shaped accessory at the bottom. The left earring on it is designed to imitate the right earring, with minor differences on the Vision part. The earrings are attached to his ears with diamond-shaped studs.

Located atop the Narukami Grand Shrine, this sacred tree watches over all of Inazuma with buds spreading throughout the nation. In the past, the inhabitants of Inazuma thought that the Sacred Cherry Tree purified the dirt from the earth through the Thunder Cherry Tree in order to safeguard the safety of the land and water. The tree grants Electrograins, which function as its messengers, to the people to whom it grants its grace, helping them overcome adversities.

Inazuma (Japanese: 稲妻 [Inazuma], "Lightning") is one of the seven nations of Teyvat. It is an archipelagic nation that worships Beelzebul, the Electro Archon, who in turn heads the local Controlling Entity, the Inazuma Shogunate. Inazuma is located approximately 4 km to the Southeast of Liyue Port, and is even closer to the Dark Sea. In the past year (based on the current events of the game), the situation in Inazuma took a drastic turn towards isolationism, locking down the nation thanks to the Sakoku Decree. Beelzebul also promulgated the Vision Capture Decree, declaring that Visions, being gifts from the gods, should be in solely divine hands. Causing all the Visions to be collected to later be embedded in the Statue of the Omnipresent Goddess.

Yae has a mysterious and playful demeanor around him whenever he assumes his duties as High Priest of the Narukami Grand Shrine. When he takes over her duties as head of Yae Publishing House, he is known to be very kind and likes to read books and stories. He is rarely seen without a smile, and is more cheerful than her position, as the Priest would suggest. He also believes that the beliefs of others may be too restrictive and that it is too difficult to influence them.
