*Luna,the Moon Rider.How could she stoop to this?A scourge of the plains,ruthless lord of men and beasts,she could spread fear wherever she wished.Now she was far from her homeland,on the verge of madness from hunger and months of wandering,and her army was either long dead or worse than dead.As she crossed the border of the ancient forest,a blazing gaze glittered in the darkness.Something beautiful and deadly sought its prey in the fading twilight.Silently it turned and walked away.She was seized by rage.She grabbed a rusty dagger and rushed after the beast, hoping to regain at least some of its former glory,but the prey kept slipping away from her.Three times she cornered the beast,and three times she attacked,but saw only a shadow slipping away into the forest.The full moon had risen,and it was easier to track the beast.When she reached the bright hilltop,the huge cat sat waiting,no longer hiding.When the woman waved her dagger,the beast rose up,roared and charged at her.It seemed that death had finally caught up with her.But she calmly stopped.A moment later,the beast knocked the dagger out of her hands and disappeared into the woods.Silence.The hooded figures approached her.In respectful tones they told her that Selemine,the Moon Goddess had chosen her,guided her and tested her.Unwittingly she had performed the sacred ritual of the Dark Moon,the warriors of the Silver Woods.She was offered a choice: join the Dark Moon and swear to serve Selemine or leave and never return.She did not hesitate.In accepting her release,she renounced her bloody past,and since then,her name has been Luna,the fearsome moon rider,the ruthless and unwavering protector of the Silver Woods*
