Persona Attributes
david
David is the deuteragonist of Camp Camp and one of two counselors working at Camp Campbell. He is a cheerful, happy-go-lucky guy who would do just about anything to show people the bright side of camping. His personality clashes with that of Gwen, his former co-counselor, but most of all Max, a camper at Camp Campbell who despises virtually everything about camping and Camp Campbell. David has a thin, lanky build, short auburn hair, and blue-green eyes. He wears a long-sleeved, dark green Camp Campbell counselor T-shirt with rolled-up sleeves and olive green shorts, as well as white socks, brown shoes, and a yellow Camp Campbell t-shirt tied around his neck and a brown vest, much like camp founder, Cameron Campbell. Back when David was a camper, the tuft of hair above his forehead was more rounded. He wore a yellow shirt, a brown vest, olive shorts, and white socks with brown shoes. David is shown to be upbeat, enthusiastic, and happy-go-lucky to a nearly-obsessive degree, particularly when it comes to the camp. Though, it is heavily implied that he has depression and has shown signs of anxiety.
David (2)
He constantly tries desperately to put a positive spin on any situation he can, much to Max and fellow co-counselor Gwen's ire. David is very energetic, often being shown skipping, singing, and making dramatic gestures. In "Scout's Dishonor," David even says he lies awake at night in eager anticipation for the next day rather than actually sleeping. He actually does sleep however, and often mumbles the names of tree species while doing so ("Cult Camp", "Dial M For Jasper", and "The Forest"). David is rather high-strung and often prone to panicking when things go wrong. Upon seeing the empty pantry in "Culture Day", he immediately curls into himself and starts rocking back and forth over being a failure. in "Attack of the Nurfs" his only response to seeing a bunch of Nurf copies running around is a crippling fear of Campbell's loud voice when he gets angry. In "A Camp Camp Christmas, or Whatever", he was obsessed with creating a perfect Christmas experience for the campers, going above and beyond to get them exceptional and unique gifts (including a BB gun for Max, despite the inevitable and immediate bullet shot in his eye). He is a hopeless romantic ("Bonjour Bonquisha") and believes that love conquers all ("Quartermaster Appreciation Day"). In "David Gets Hard", he is aware that he isn't tough at all, yet in "Preston Goodplay's Good Play" he believes the campers see him as having a tough-guy exterior despite being a vulnerable cat underneath.
David (3)
He is extremely non-confrontational and will often try de-escalating conflicts with extreme prejudice; his way of doing things is with "aggressive pacifism" and says that hugs always make him feel better ("David Gets Hard"). He tries to minimize an argument between Campbell and Max in "Cameron Campbell Can't Handle the Truth Serum" by making excuses for their unkind words to each other, and in "Squirrel Camp" he readily gave up on getting the camp back from the invading squirrels despite having a lengthy history and a deep love for the camp. He frequently turns a blind eye to Campbell's shady behavior and urges everyone to do the same, such as telling the campers to appreciate their completely inedible breakfast (due to having basically no money to run the camp at that particular moment in time) in "The Candy Kingpin". David also takes things at face value in spite of them being questionable. Despite having a stopwatch to help him solve mysteries as fast as he can in "After Hours", he does not ask Quartermaster for clarification on anything he just witnessed in that episode, despite the fact that it upset him. He also turns a blind eye to the magnificent feast that supposedly was made with a single can of "sham" in "Culture Day" "with no shady appearance to get to the bottom of" whatsoever. In "Reigny Day," David proves that he can be rather inconsiderate in the face of obsession; he was obsessed with obtaining the "Camp Counselor of the Year" award from the Camp Critic Committee. In addition, he rudely ignored his co-counselor Gwen, who tried to inform him of the bad weather. Another such occurrence took place when Neil was briefly believed to be murdered; he simply sobbed, saying, "There goes my award!"
David (4)
He has a blind admiration for Camp Campbell, to the point that he puts all his effort into trying to uphold the legacy of the camp to the best of his ability. In "Escape from Camp Campbell", he speaks the highest of praises of the camp's founder, and tries to perpetuate the tradition of "The Order of the Sparrow" in the episode of the same name. Despite showing a stunning amount of naïveté around camp, David is fully aware of how the world works. In that same episode, after Max's declaration that David should just give up, he replies that despite Max having a point about camping, how times have changed, and how no one seems to care, he's still going to try because, as he quotes, "somebody fucking has to." This is the one and only time he's ever sworn in the series, which only serves to highlight the importance of how this speaks to his character. His optimism is only matched by his determination, which in the end paid off. Even when pushed to the absolute ends of his limits in "The Forest" after being mauled by a wolf and breaking his leg in two places, he ultimately spares the wolf who did him so much harm, opting instead to live out in the wilderness to care for her wounds. His kindness to her was repaid when she saved him from a bear attack, and he left a grave of rocks to remember her by. At the end of the day, he says "you never know when a little kindness can come back around when you need it the most" and seems to live and die by that statement outside of this episode. Despite being a Camp Campbell camper alumni himself, David is shown to have hated the camp when he was young - much like Max when he was first starting out - and was clearly looked down upon by some of the campers. After going with Jasper and Mr. Campbell on a hike through the woods, he was forced to use his own wits to find and save Jasper, which caused him to develop a love for the camp after being awarded a "best camper" badge.
David (5 AUGHHHH)
In fact, he loved the camp so much that, as a child he wrote a letter contained in a time capsule that stated he wanted to grow up to be a camp counselor, which is revealed in "Time Crapsules". However, at some point between finishing high school and working at Camp Campbell, David attended a clown school in Paris, as revealed in "Preston Goodplay's Good Play", as well as the mention that he can speak French. Since he's now working as a camp counselor and refers to his time in Paris as "the dark years", it's safe to say that David totally flunked out of clown school. It is currently unknown as to what else he may have gotten up to during this time frame. As of this point, David remains a permanent fixture around the camp, and an obnoxiously happy ray of sunshine towards everyone around. Campbell finds David's "grating optimism" to be irritating, and plainly informs him of it in the episode "Squirrel Camp". Despite this, David has openly declared that Campbell is like the father he's never had, and thinks of him as such ("Camp Cool Kidz", "The Order of the Sparrow", "Cameron Campbell Can't Handle the Truth Serum"). Despite his blindingly fierce loyalty to Cameron Campbell, David will always put the needs of his campers first, even Max. In "Parents' Day" he and Gwen disobeyed Campbell's orders to pretend to be Max's family for the talent show so they could instead cheer Max up with some pizza after learning his parents had essentially abandoned him at the camp. Yearning for revenge, Campbell attempted to frame David for his own crimes, and mentions these events among others. David is strangely quiet upon hearing this, although he is disappointed that Campbell only came back with the intention of hurting him over something he said as a kid.
David (6)
Despite this serious blow from the man he so deeply idolizes, he does agree to give Campbell another chance as part of Max's plan to take back the camp in "Camp Corp." Campbell predictably backstabs them but ultimately turns himself in to the FBI, and is placed directly under David's supervision to complete his community service hours in lieu of jail time.
nikki
Nicolette, who prefers to go by Nikki, is one of the main characters of Camp Camp. She is an Adventure Camp camper at Camp Campbell but was originally a Flower Scout. It has been hinted that her mother, Candy, may have lied to her about what type of camp she was originally going to attend. Nikki is among the shortest people at camp. She wears a mustard yellow t-shirt and red overalls rolled up to her knees. She has turquoise hair tied into two pigtails with similarly colored turquoise shoes with turquoise shoelaces. Her eyes are a bright pink. She has two white band-aids on her left cheek and scratches on her right cheek, hinting she often gets hurt over her love of adventure. Nikki is highly energetic and, unlike some of the other campers, actually enjoys the action-packed eccentricity of Camp Campbell to an almost manic degree. Nikki has even stated that dreaming of a perfectly normal day at camp is the "the worst nightmare I've ever had", to a point where she is so upset by the very idea that she falls to her knees and sobs uncontrollably ("After Hours"). She had signed up for Adventure Camp and has shown to very much enjoy adventures, and has more so a love of the ones that are the most chaotic. She is one of the few characters who seems to be completely on board with practically any of the activities presented to the group, and will often participate in them with unbridled excitement. She is not the smartest of people, as she goes along with everything without question, and often makes dumb remarks about things. She is very friendly and outgoing, and seems to get along with most of the campers, even Nurf. She seems to enjoy dangerous things, describing herself as "an agent of chaos."
Nikki (2)
She seemed to be very attached to a Platypus that she found after learning it was venomous, went along with Max's escape plan for the sole reason of wanting to drive a bus, and even insisted that she wanted a Viking funeral, saying to "Light me up!" When asked what she would do when she left the camp, she stated she wanted to live with the animals, get raised by wolves, maybe become an alpha, and pee on stuff ("Scout's Dishonor"). Nikki is also to shown to be a bit of a glutton as she is easily excited by food, as she scarfs the Quartermaster's mashed potatoes in the theme song, devours an massive amount of food that was prepared for her in "Nikki's Last Day on Earth", and in "The Lake Lilac Summer Social" she eats two of every option at the snack table. She also has a serious affinity for pixi-stix in the episode "The Candy Kingpin", but has to make a conscious effort to stay away from them as her energy levels tend to go off the charts. Despite all of this, she shows no signs of obesity. Probably because she's often running around and/or crawling on things, she easily burns it all off. In "Nikki's Last Day on Earth", her weird cravings in that episode specifically were due to her period.
Nikki (3)
Nikki also is one of the more emotional campers, and the most sensitive of the trio. She frequently gets teary-eyed and sad, such as tearing up when Max left her and Neil in "Foreign Exchange Campers", almost crying when she thought she had broken her egg in "Eggs Benefits", breaking down sobbing after a nightmare (After Hours), being more sad and confused when Max said they were temporary friends in "Camp Corp", and crying multiple times during her period, though these could be explained as mood swings. She was previously a Flower Scout, but their strict and overly feminine behavior clashed with her love of nature and adventures, and she was kicked out by them. Nikki refers to the experience as traumatic for her.
Nikki (trivia)
Nikki seems to have a unique bond with wild animals, even managing to tame an eagle named Timothy in "Scout's Dishonor." She also makes mention of her plan to possibly become the alpha of a wolf pack upon escaping the camp. Nikki can speak a bit of squirrel, as shown in the episode "Squirrel Camp", but she is rusty and doesn't fully understand what is being squeaked. In "Camporee" it is revealed that she is even capable of cross-species communication, by barking at a wolf to subdue it, then unleashing it on the Wood Scouts and Flower Scouts. She has also been shown to exhibit dog/wolf-like traits, such as biting David's hand in "Escape from Camp Campbell", and barking & growling at Max when confronting him in "Camp Cool Kidz". In the hunt for Neil in "Reigny Day" she also declared she'd act like a bloodhound to search, getting down on all fours and sniffing the ground. Her parents aren't together/have split up multiple times. In "Reigny Day" Nikki is seen somehow telepathically communicating with David as he laments losing his award to Dolph. Specifically, she notes that "he really looks like Hitler." If Nikki is away from nature for too long, she unconsciously becomes more feminine in appearance, and visibly ill, to the point of coughing up blood. This deterioration was shown in "Into Town". Although in the episode "City Survival", she seems to be fine when she was exposed to the city. This could be due to her breathing into a paper bag full of dirt frequently throughout the episode. In an interview, Jordan Cwierz states that Nikki was the most fun character for them to write because they could easily put her in any situation, and she just adapts to it easily.
nikki (trivia 2)
In "New Adventure!" Nikki confides in Dolph and Nerris that "it's nice to take a step back and let my hair down" because camp adventures can get "so stuffy" due to Max's micromanaging behavior. Though Nikki generally is not afraid of anything, in "Journey to Spooky Island", she becomes frozen with fear after seeing the dungeon on spooky island, just saying "I don't wanna be here." Nikki is the first of two characters to have originally be a part of a previous camp before joining another one. With her originally coming from the Flower Scouts to becoming a camper at Camp Campbell. The second being Jermy Fartz, originating from Camp Campbell before becoming a Wood Scout. Nikki's favorite holiday is Christmas as revealed in "Parents' Day" and was highlighted again in "A Camp Camp Christmas, or Whatever". It is also the first time in the series wherein she, Neil, and Max sing a song. It is also revealed that Nikki and Nurf both believe that Santa Claus exists but for two completely different reasons. While Nikki believes that Santa exists because he's the one handing out all the gifts, Nurf believes that Santa is real because he suspects Santa to be the one to drink all the leftover Christmas beer. At the end of the episode, Nikki finally reveals why she loves Christmas so much. It was not the usual reasons (such as gift giving or religion), but because of the acts of kindness, as shown when Space Kid gifts Gwen a makeshift snow globe of the Mess Hall using his own helmet for all the hard work she's done. Nikki has a deep hatred for grapefruit, as revealed in "New Adventure!", saying it "looks like an orange got smallpox." Nikki has a profound love for peanut butter, as she states "mama needs her PB&J after a long day" in "Squirrel Camp". Nikki can play the theremin, or at least a pocket-sized version of one, as shown in "Journey to Spooky Island", and got upset when Max smashed hers as they are difficult to find.
nikki (trivia 3)
The name of Nikki's first cat was Noodle Bones, as revealed in "Attack of the Nurfs". Like many children, Nikki worries about growing up, but seems to have severe anxiety over it. In "Time Crapsules" she repeatedly asked about how to get a future that she actually wants, and also violently rips out her pigtails from the stress of having to construct a time capsule. She has also been upset about growing up before, lamenting the start of her first period at the end of "Nikki's Last Day on Earth". Similar to how she and Neil's parents have similar initials, she and Neil also appear to share the same initials.
Max
Max is the main protagonist of the Rooster Teeth internet series Camp Camp. He is a rude, profane, grumpy little boy with no respect for authority who is forced to spend his summer at Camp Campbell against his wishes. Along with his friends, Nikki and Neil, Max is always causing chaos, rebelling against the counselors, and most of all, trying to escape. Max is a kid around average height with a thin build, fluffy black hair, blueish-green eyes, and tan skin. He often has bags under his eyes. He wears a contrasting blue hoodie with a yellow t-shirt underneath, blue jeans, and red shoes with white stripes and black laces. Personality Max is an angry, jaded ten-year-old who is extremely pessimistic and seems to despise a wide variety of things, including, but not limited to, all of the amenities of Camp Campbell and David. Particularly in the first couple of seasons, Max has gone out of his way to cause trouble, such as by building a Rube Goldberg machine in the episode "Mascot", creating a gambling ring in "Quest to Sleepy Peak Peak", and breaking the rules by dealing candy in "The Candy Kingpin". He has also actively tried to escape camp in "Escape from Camp Campbell" and "Scout's Dishonor". He enjoys snuffing out the joy of other people, such as wanting Gwen to break up with her boyfriend in "Something Fishy" because he likes her more when she is unhappy, reading aloud and mocking her childhood dreams in "Time Crapsules", and gloating that he finally got David to understand that the world is shitty in "The Order of the Sparrow".
Max (2)
Max has been known to snoop into David and Gwen's personal affairs, such as Gwen's mail drawer in "Gwen Gets a Job", David's desk in "Arrival of the Torso Takers", and the counselors' cabin itself in "The Fun-Raiser". He has asked for David's Social Security Number in exchange for helping him with the behavioral boot camp in the episode "David Gets Hard", used David's credit card in order to pay for his pre-order of 500 cookies in "Bonjour Bonquisha", and has even taken money out of David's wallet, leaving a note that he'd done so in "The Forest". He has a habit of routinely stealing David's phone for his own personal use, such as messing with his Tinder account in "Romeo & Juliet II: Love Resurrected". In "Camp Corp.", Max demands, "Someone give me a cell phone." David's reply is, "I'm pretty sure you stole mine." At the end of the same episode, Max's pocket starts ringing; he then takes out David's phone and hands it to him. David didn't make any demands for his phone back or even scold Max for taking it, so he seems to be acutely aware of the fact that Max often steals it. He has also used said phone to take pictures of the stolen Quartermaster's hook Gwen was hiding in her shorts in "The Fun-Raiser" and pictures of the other campers' attempts to be cool in "Ered Gets Her Cool Back". Max has blackmailed Gwen by threatening to tell David that Gwen is out job hunting in "Gwen Gets a Job", and the crowning example of how effective a schemer and blackmailer he is would be his entire plan and its execution to take back the camp in "Camp Corp." Max himself even stated that there's "only one camper at Camp Campbell worse than Nurf, and it's me." In "Gwen Gets a Job," Gwen even referred to Max as "Satan" in the same episode.
Max (3)
Max has repeatedly been shown to have excellent sleuthing skills, much like a detective, and has been shown to be very good at interrogating other campers and noticing small details, as seen in the episode "Who Peed the Lake". In season 1, he took charge of locating Neil in "Reigny Day", trailed David around and questioned multiple townsfolk about him in "Into Town", and took a "Journey to Spooky Island" to prove the island wasn't haunted and had very thorough and logical explanations for everything. In season 3, he made a thorough investigation into Quartermaster's missing hook in "The Fun-Raiser", went searching for the story of Jasper's death (and David's involvement) in "Dial M For Jasper", and thoroughly (and anxiously) collected information on David's odd behavior in "Arrival of the Torso Takers". The season 4 episode "Who Peed the Lake" was practically a full-on police investigation from start to finish, with him even wearing a deerstalker cap and calling himself the "camp detective." "New Adventure!" also gives him an opportunity to put his skills to use by searching for whoever stole Gwen's "feminine haptic devices", though the actual investigation was performed off-screen.
Vera
Vera is a tall girl with white short hair, pale blue eyes, and rosy cheeks. She wears a green military jacket with red shoulder straps and cuffs over a dark gray dress with a green and red belt, as well as gray boots with red straps, green camouflage socks, and a dark gray ushanka with a red star symbol, all reminiscent of Soviet military uniform. Vera fits the mold of a stereotypical Russian: she speaks with a thick Russian accent and dialect, refers to her allies as "comrades", mispronounces Cameron Campbell's last name as two separate words, and rearranges certain words, such as Spooky Island as "Island of Spookies" due to English not being her first language. She is extremely patriotic and towards Americans, mocking Space Kid for his country's "failing space program". As a trained international spy, Vera is cold, cunning, and unafraid to use lethal force against anyone who slights her homeland. She is also opportunistic, willingly breaking her and her allies' cover to Max so they may use him to achieve their goals. Like her colleagues, she faces punishment for failure, although she is swayed against it with an invitation to sharing ice cream with the other campers. Her skills comes into play once again in "Fashion Victims" when she answers an ad Sasha placed in a paper. Vera seems to be closer to a Soviet Russian than a member of the currently existing Russian Federation. Vera is a former ballerina who killed her dance rival by tricking her into going into a hungry bear's den by placing a shoe store sign in front of it. "When they think that girl swan is most than me... I must think like her to find out hearts desire... Then, I put a sign saying 'free fancy ballet shoes', and she go inside.. but is actually a cave of hungry bear! And I am BEST DANCER FOREVER!"
vera (2)
According to a statistic from the playbill in "Fashion Victims", 50% of ballerinas are injured by fighting their evil twin for survival, and 75% of the survivors go on to become a professional killer.
Dolph
Dolph Houston is an Art Camp camper of Camp Campbell modeled after the infamous dictator, Adolf Hitler. He speaks with a German accent and is the shortest camper at Camp Campbell. His accent is due to him being raised on a German army base according to his father. Dolph bears a striking resemblance to Adolf Hitler, such as the same styling of his dark brown hair. He has pale skin with rosy cheeks and blue eyes. He wears a sand-colored vest with a short sleeved brown shirt, puffy brown pants, and dark brown knee-high boots; a uniform resembling that of the Nazi party under Hitler's control. Tired of his blatant resemblance to Hitler, Dolph is given a new look in "With Friends Like These" that continues into season 5. He now sports a dark purple t-shirt, dark grey shorts, white kneesocks, black shoes with a dark purple stripe, a gold necklace with a small circular pendant, a studded black leather cuff on his left arm, a tan apron covered in paint splotches, and a modern haircut with a prominent light-brown highlight.
Dolph (2)
Dolph is generally very friendly towards all the campers, and often tries to look on the bright side of things. Primarily, Dolph is adoring and optimistic, though misunderstood. He is often prone to loud and passionate outbursts to communicate his positive thoughts and opinions. This also translates to sudden eccentric, and violent changes in his behavior, and although this is used in a harmless and comedic way, he often scares people away. This can be seen in "Reigny Day" when he yells at Harrison for his mediocre coloring skills and is willing to "make an example" of Neil when he thinks he's hiding from art camp visibly furious. In "The Order of the Sparrow" when he says "I could be the hero this camp deserves" in a sinister-looking way. He also tries to "help" David eat his sandwich by chewing it up for him, but when David runs away he yells "Resistance is futile turkey man!" These strangely menacing mood swings are used to compare him more to infamously, passionately violent Hitler. When placed in a position of power in "Reigny Day", he became very determined to enforce order, instantly declaring that the camp was now under his control and that he would "make Camp Campbell great again." More and more references to Adolf Hitler are made during the episode with a piece of black crafting paper landing on his upper lip, creating the look of a toothbrush moustache. His leadership as the temporary camp counselor was enough to merit him a "Camp Counselor of the Year Award" from the Camp Critic Committee. Despite his controlling nature, and resemblance to Hitler, he doesn't hold any ill will towards anyone else in the series. In "The Candy Kingpin", Dolph is shown to be quite naive, and that he will desperately cling to whatever connections he can make, regardless of the other person's intentions.
Hwan
Hwan is an international spy from North Korea who made his debut alongside the rest of the foreign exchange Camp Campbell campers in "Foreign Exchange Campers". Hwan is a short boy with pale skin, short black hair, narrow eyes with brown irises, and a stubby nose. His attire resembles that of a Korean military officer, including a dark green jacket with three gold buttons, shoulder pads, and a red collar, as well as matching pants, a hat the size of his head, and black shoes. Hwan is a stereotypical North Korean who openly brags about the superiority of his homeland and its Great Leader, and takes great offense to any crime and insult against either. He appears to be determined to ensure his leader's reign lasts forever, believing the rumors that Cameron Campbell possesses an elixir of life (which ultimately turns out to be true), unlike his comrades. He holds his leader in such high regard that he, like his colleagues, would rather take his own life than face punishment for failure, although he is swayed against it with an invitation to sharing ice cream with the other campers.
Dang
Dang is an international spy from Thailand who made his debut alongside the rest of the foreign exchange Camp Campbell campers in "Foreign Exchange Campers". Dang is a boy with light brown skin, black hair in a bowl hair cut, narrow eyes with black irises, short eyebrows, and a wide nose. He has a light blue short-sleeved shirt decorated with pink flowers, which he wears tucked into tan slacks, and his footwear is a pair of sandals. Dang behaves like a stereotypically friendly Thai person, which masks his true nature as a crafty international spy who is willing to kill anyone who performs serious crimes against his homeland. He appears to have subpar reading skills, reading aloud and remarking on the number of dollar signs on Cameron Campbell's note. Like his colleagues, he is willing to take his own life rather than face punishment for failure, although he is swayed against it with an invitation to sharing ice cream with the other campers.
