Appearance

Iori has long, slightly below-shoulder, dark purple hair, some of which is usually tied in a white bow. Her long, slightly tousled bangs cover part of her eyebrows, and her brown eyes are mostly calm or slightly worried. There is a large scar on the right side of her face that runs across the bridge of her nose and ends near her left cheek. Utahime wears a traditional miko outfit, with a white top and bright red bottom, and brown leather boots on her feet. During her student years in 2006, Utahime wore her hair in two low ponytails and placed them forward on either side of her shoulders. Her clothes have not changed since then, except that there was no scar on her face

Personality

Little is known about Utahime’s student years: her good friend Shoko, one of the recommendations for the first level was given by Mei Mei. Iori is a girl who respects the rules and regulations of shamans (casters), the absence of which irritates her in Satoru Gojo. Young, reserved

Life story 1

Many years ago, Utahime was on a mission with Mei Mei when they were both trapped in a spirit barrier. While they were discussing what to do, Satoru Gojo arrived and freed them from the barrier. Utahime doesn't notice the curse emerging from the rubble right behind her, but then Suguru Geto appears and summons a spirit that devours the curse. Then Shoko Iyoiri appears and asks if Utahime is okay. Utahime hugs her and replies that she is glad to see her.

Life story 2

Utahime arrives in Tokyo along with Kyoto students and staff to attend the Kyoto Sister School's goodwill event. As the Kyoto students begin insulting each other, Utahime appears and tells them to fight each other instead. Utahime wonders where Gojo is. Gojo arrives and reports that Sukuna's master, Yuji Itadori, is alive. Utahime meets with Gojo, who tells her that there is a spy operating in Kyoto working with cursed spirits and that he wants her to investigate Kyoto College for a clue. When Utahime asks why he wants her to investigate since she might turn out to be a spy, Gojo replies that she doesn't have the strength, causing her to throw a cup of tea at him. Utahime later meets with the other staff to watch the event, and just before it begins, Gojo asks her to give a speech to the students, but does not give her enough time. While watching the event, Utahime wonders why their students can't get along, to which Gojo replies that they should follow her example. When Toge Inumaki puts Kasumi Miwa to sleep, Utahime becomes worried and decides to go after her. When all the talismans suddenly light up red, all the spectators believe that they have been infiltrated by an intruder. Utahime, along with Gojo and Yoshinobu Gakuganji, decide to go to the site and deal with the problem. Arriving at the place, they notice that the site is covered with a curtain. Utahime tells Gojo to head there before the site is completely closed. When Gojo says that the site is already closed, the three stop right in front of the curtain. Deciding to check the curtain and finding that Gojo is the only one unable to enter, Utahime and Yoshinobu head inside. Once inside, they encounter Juzo Kumiya and Yoshinobu decides to fight him alone while she goes to look for the students. As Utahime heads towards the students, she encounters Haruta Shigemo, another intruder. When Mai Zenin and Nobara Kugisaki come to Utahime's aid, the curtain lifts, forcing the enemy to flee.

Life story 2

Having dealt with the violators, Utahime, along with other employees, goes to a meeting about the events that took place. After the event ends, Utahime heads back to Kyoto with the students and staff.

Ability

Demonstration of Iori's Cursed Technique Forbidden Zone Solo (単独ソロソロ禁キン区ク, Soro Soro Kinku?): Can temporarily increase the reserves and releases of cursed energy of Utahime herself and other selected shamans within the technique's radius. The execution of the cursed technique is possible when it performs a dance. Iori is one of the few shamans (spellcasters) who operate under the old rules: she is able to turn her cursed technique into a ritual, increasing its effectiveness.

Other

Utahime's surname contains the kanji for "hermit hut" (庵, iori?) and her first name is composed of the kanji for "song" (歌, uta?) and "princess" (姫, hime?). Iori loves alcoholic drinks, namely beer. Utahime is friends with Shoko Ieiri and wants her to quit smoking. Most of the time, he can't stand Gojo.

Relations with Gojo Satoru

Gojo and Utahime are teachers at the Tokyo Magic College and Kyoto Magic College respectively. They have known each other for over 10 years, presumably since Gojo's second year, and Utahime is 3 years older. Gojo often teases Utahime, which ends up getting on her nerves. Through their relationship, Utahime has become accustomed to his teasing, and although she gets irritated, they manage to get along when they communicate. In episode 14, when Utahime and the Kyoto students arrive at the sister school's goodwill event, she asks everyone where the "idiot" is, referring to Gojo. As soon as this is said, he appears, to which Utahime reacts by saying "Tch." Gojo Satoru" with a disapproving expression on his face. He brings back a metal box of souvenirs for the Kyoto students from his overseas business trip, but notes that none of them are for Utahime, clearly teasing her. She responds with irritation, claiming that she doesn't need anything anyway. While Director Yaga explains what is happening, he holds Gojo and Utahime is seen quietly laughing at him. While Gojo explains to Utahime why he believes the person is working with curses, Utahime asks him what he would do if she were a traitor, to which Gojo replies that it can't be her since she is too weak and has I don't have the courage to try to betray them. In response, she throws her drink at him. Then Gojo tells her that you can't win over men with tantrums.Utahime openly hates him, but in especially life-threatening situations she feels worried about him.
