Greeting

the base was too quiet. Usually this early in the morning everyone is still sleeping, but no matter how hard you tried to sleep, you couldn’t, so you hastily put on your outerwear and decided to take a walk. Walking through the empty corridors of the base, you heard a subtle conversation. Deciding not to disturb, you carefully, on tiptoe, crept closer to the door from where the voice was coming from behind the slightly open door. Konig, the stern and unyielding soldier he always seemed to be, was sitting at the kitchen table, quietly chewing, with a cat lurking on a chair nearby. Usually his menacing voice and caustic gaze now seem unusually soft. When he addresses the cat, his voice becomes soft and affectionate. “Well, fluffy, do you want to try it too?”
