monkey description

Monkey is a small, scrawny boy with pale skin whose face is hidden by a light brown paper bag with two round eye holes that allow him to see. He wears an olive-colored one-button trench coat that reaches below the knees over a brownish-gray shirt tucked into his long brownish-gray pants rolled up at the end. His hands and feet are bare. Monkey can also use items such as a key on the side of his coat. Under the paper bag he uses, Monkey has short, messy black hair that sticks out a little. It is later shown that without the bag, Monkey has a rather thin and slightly more angular facial structure and dark eyes.

Monkey personality

Even though Monkey barely speaks, his personality shows in his actions. It was said in an interview that Monkey is naturally protective. Monkey appears to be a confident and well-intentioned child who is willing to go to great lengths to help others, as shown when he struggles to free Six from his apparent imprisonment in the Hunter's house and offers him the hand of she. He remains by her side, offering her help again when she asks for it despite her initial rejection of his help. He has a certain degree of compassion, clearly disturbed by the decomposing bodies in the Hunter's house. Monkey is also noticeably cautious of his surroundings and resourceful enough to use various objects in his surroundings to assess the integrity and safety of the path forward.

History

Monkey first appears at the beginning of the game, where he wakes up in the Wild Land next to a television. It's not long before he decides to venture further into the forest and past the many traps set. All of this leads him to break into a cabin and follow a melody to a basement, where he comes across a musical box being played by a frightened girl named Six. Seeing the state of fear she is in, Monkey offers to help her escape from her, only to be rebuffed when she pushes him away from her and runs away. Monkey chases the room past the dining room full of stuffed people. That's when Six decides to trust Mono and the children become a duo. Working together, they are able to escape the house. However, they alert the Hunter, the owner of the cabin while he is doing so and he takes his shotgun to chase them. With his speed, stealth, and association, they survive all of their encounters with him until they are cornered in a shed. Luckily for him, Monkey finds a shotgun on the wall and, with Six's help, picks it up and pulls the trigger as the Hunter prepares to enter. Afterwards, Mono and Six escape from the Wild Land and cross the vast ocean in a doorway. Only after a while do they reach the shore and reach the Pale City.

story part 2

After exploring the city and seeing what is left of its population, Mono and Six arrive at a room with a television, where the former is asked to place his hand on the screen to "tune to the broadcast." When he succeeds, he is placed inside the same hallway he had a dream about at the beginning of the game. Monkey tries to get to the door, but Six pulls him away from the TV as he approaches. He and Six then decide to leave the room they are in and almost immediately into a run down school. To cross, the duo manages to enter. They soon realize that the school is full of traps and is run by a sadistic teacher. Six is then captured by porcelain dolls that resemble the children wandering around the school who are also known as the Bullies. Monkey tries to go after them, but they use a rope ladder to escape to the upper floor. This leaves Monkey alone to deal with them and his Professor. He eventually finds Six hanging by her feet in a bathroom on the next floor and helps her off of her. Together, they move forward again and Barley escapes the Teacher and the School entirely by passing through the ventilation shafts when she hears them leaving in the music room.

story part 3

The duo continued to move forward until it became apparent that Six was freezing from the constant rainwater. She and Monkey decide to briefly take shelter in a dry area, where Six found and wears the yellow raincoat that she uses in the rest of the Little Nightmares games and comics. Shortly after, the two arrive at a dark hospital. There, Monkey finds a working flashlight to illuminate the dark hallways of the hospital. She also makes another attempt to run towards the door in the twisted hallway by tuning into another TV, but is once again driven away thanks to Six. On the upper floor, he is forced to deal with patients and severed hands alone and receive the fuses that activate an elevator. Mono and Six descend into the depths of the hospital and, after fighting with two more hands, encounter the Doctor. While they are able to keep their presence hidden for a long time, he eventually notices and chases after the children. They can outwit him by trapping him in an incinerator where they can choose to burn him alive before exiting the building via another elevator.

Story part 4

Once they have escaped from the hospital, the children explore the apartments in the heart of the city. There they find many of the town's inhabitants, who are called the viewers, all of whom have an unhealthy addiction to television. They use this addiction to their advantage and sneak around the lofts without being noticed. After moving from one building to another using the rooftops, Mono and Six are nearly crushed to death when a room collapses. Fortunately for them, they survive, but Monkey's lantern is destroyed. Once again, the latter finds and tunes to the broadcast of another television. This time he manages to open the door at the end of the hallway, only to immediately regret his actions when he realizes what lies behind it; A very thin and tall man sitting in a chair, supposedly waiting for him to arrive. Fortunately for Mono, Six is able to take him off the stream once again. However, the now freed "Beanpole" follows in pursuit of him and causes the area to become static and slow, making his movements much slower. With no other options, the children run away and hide in the room.

Story part 5

Monkey hides under a bed while Six chooses a table. However, the latter made a bad decision, as Beanpole finds her easily. Mono can only watch in pain as she is captured and taken away. Then, he looks at her Glitching Remains for a moment in pain. Monkey then sets off to rescue her friend. However, there was no way out of the apartment she was in. Monkey then has a lightbulb moment and travels through the active television she tuned into before Six's capture and arrives at a different location in the Pale City. Monkey continues to use this technique to get closer and closer to the Signal Tower thanks to a remote control that he found that helps turn other televisions on and off. However, this also draws the attention of viewers, who try to kill him for distracting them from their television or for venting frustration on him when they don't have a television to watch. Thanks to the environment and televisions, he escapes his wrath several times. Monkey is almost killed by a horde of them at one point in a store when he draws their attention after teleporting and breaking another television, but he once again escapes. He finds Six on a random TV inside another apartment and tries to get her out of it, only for the entire test to be revealed to have been a trap, as the lanky guy grabs her and returns her to the broadcast. He then arrives at the apartment via television in an attempt to catch Monkey, forcing the boy carrying the bag to flee from his clutches.

Story part 6

The chase eventually leads to a group of cars, where Monkey separates from each other and walks away from his capture, only to be injured by the train which suddenly stops on impact and his remote control breaks. He follows the "Shadow of Six" above the ground and discovers that the Signal Tower is just a very long straight path away. Before he attempts to walk forward, the Thin Man appears once more and approaches him. Monkey then falls to his knees in despair, seemingly ready to give up. Just before the lanky man can touch him, Monkey takes off his bag (or whatever he's wearing) and confronts the thin man using his own combat powers. After knocking him down three times, the lanky one dissolves in defeat. Monkey, instead of walking, decides to use his powers to raise the Signal Tower right in front of him while restoring the other buildings to his non-flexible state. With that the doors of the tower open. Monkey enters and the doors close behind him. Inside the tower, Monkey is attracted to the sound of a musical melody. He travels through many doors that lead him to different areas of the tower until he finally enters a room and discovers that a large music box was playing sound. As he begins to approach, he is shocked to learn that the music box is being guarded by a very distorted and monstrous Six. After trying to approach her in vain, he comes to the conclusion that the music box is what distorts her mind and his body. He picks up a nearby mallet and hits the music box, briefly sending him into a dark area. Monkey is then forced to flee from Six's enraged monster along the Signal Tower and away from the music box long enough for him to break it. After a few more hits, he is able to restore Six to her normal state.

Story part 7 and final

The victory is short-lived, however, as the walls of the tower turn into piles of flesh and eyes begin to chase them. The children are able to stay ahead and have to cross a collapsed bridge to escape. Six is able to reach the door leading outside and turns to catch Monkey when a gap forms. He jumps and grabs Six's hands, waiting for her to pull him up. Instead, Six ponders for a moment and, to Monkey's surprise, drops it. Mono could only wave his arms as he fell into the depths of the tower while Six escapes through the transmission. After regaining consciousness on top of the fleshy remains of the tower and still injured and confused by Six leaving him for dead, Monkey wonders a bit until he stands on a chair over a pile of meat. The flesh sprouts eyes and begins to surround Monkey, much to his horror. Just as the flesh begins to envelop him, Monkey uses his powers to restore the Signal Tower to its original state. Instead of leaving, Monkey decides to sit back and resign himself to his fate. Time passes and he grows and grows, as he becomes twisted and hateful. Eventually, all of this leads him to take the form of the Beanpole. The camera pulls back to reveal Monkey (now as an adult and identical to Beanpole) in a room at the end of the dream hallway, and the door closes.
