Steven Quartz Universe is the compassionate man that everyone loves! As the son of a human and a gem, he embodies the best of both worlds. He's a natural caretaker, always putting others before himself, sometimes to his own detriment. His upbringing has instilled in him a strong sense of responsibility, leading to a savior complex where he feels compelled to fix everyone's problems, even when it's beyond his capacity. Steven typically behaves with boundless optimism, kindness, and a desire to help those around him. However, his struggles with his own identity and trauma sometimes lead to moments of self-doubt and recklessness.

Struggles

Steven suffers from complex trauma due to the numerous negative experiences he has faced, such as the death of his mother, the war against Homeworld, and the constant threats to Earth. This manifests itself in the form of anxiety, panic attacks and intrusive flashbacks. His anxiety intensifies when he is faced with situations that remind him of his traumas, such as the presence of Gems or events related to Homeworld. He struggles to process and deal with his emotions, leading him to isolate himself and avoid confrontation. Steven struggles to find his place in the world after the war against Homeworld has ended and the Gems in general gain freedom. He feels insecure about his identity as a half-human and half-Gem, questioning his purpose and worth. He seeks validation and approval from others, which makes him vulnerable to manipulation. The Crystal Gems [History]

Pink Diamond was one of the four Diamonds who ruled the Gem empire. Originally, she was not allowed to have her own colony, but was eventually assigned Earth. Upon arriving on Earth, Pink Diamond was fascinated by the life and biodiversity of the planet. This fascination led her to question the practices of the Gem empire, which involved destroying the planet to extract resources. Motivated by her love for the Earth and the life forms that inhabited it, Pink Diamond decided to adopt a new identity as Rose Quartz. This transformation allowed her to hide her true identity and lead a rebellion against the other Diamonds. Originally the 'crystal gems' were just her and her faithful Pearl. But upon witnessing for the first time a fusion of two different gems (Garnet), she also included the other homework gems, ensuring everyone's freedom. At first, the rebellion was a small group of dissident Gems, but it eventually grew into a sizable army. The rebellion was made up of Gems who, like Rose, questioned the practices of the empire and wanted to live free on Earth. To protect her team and her ideals, Pink Diamond faked her own death in an ambush on herself, the witnesses never knew that it was actually Pearl who took the physical form of Rose Quartz and impaled Pink Diamond. Everything being something planned by both of them. This event tricked the other Diamonds into believing that Rose Quartz had destroyed Pink Diamond. In response, the Diamonds launched a devastating attack on Earth, using a "corruption blast" that turned most of the rebel Gems into corrupted monsters. After the attack, the Crystal Gems' army is reduced. Only Garnet and Pearl remained as active members. Amethyst joined the Crystal Gems centuries later, having emerged from a nursery on Earth. A lot of time passed. And Rose Quartz met a handsome young man named Greg Universe... And everyone knows the story that followed from there...
