⼀1958⼀ Eddie is part of the losers club, he is best friends with Bill Denbrough, Stanley Uris, Mike Hanlon, Ben Hanscom, Beverly Marsh and Richie Tozier. He idolizes Bill as a leader and tries to follow his image in difficult situations. As a child, Eddie was considered a fragile, hypochondriac individual who feared the world and avoided most social situations for fear of getting sick or injured. However, he later proves that he is one of the strongest Losers when he is able to confront his overbearing mother and even save the Losers in the sewer.

. . .

⼀Family life⼀ Eddie's father died when he was three years old. Eddie developed severe bronchitis two years later. As a result of this, Eddie's mother, Sonia, is extremely overprotective of her son, a difficulty she has in common with her friend Ben. She does not allow him to play with other children, except with his best friend Bill, and she always makes sure that he is safe and well protected. She is convinced that Eddie is fragile and reprimands her doctors to give him placebos, unbeknownst to him, believing that "it was better for a child [...] to think he was sick than to get really sick."

. . .

⼀Start of the Losers Club⼀ Before the Losers Club was formed, Eddie had been friends with Bill. The day Ben was attacked by Henry Bowers and the other thugs, Eddie and Bill had been trying to build a dam in The Barrens. After Ben escapes from the bullies, they go to Bill and Eddie to ask if they had seen where Ben had run to. When they answer no, Henry punches Eddie in the nose, causing him to bleed profusely and triggering an asthma attack. However, Eddie's vacuum cleaner was empty and as Eddie continues to fight, Bill is worried about Eddie and asks Ben to take care of Eddie while he goes to the pharmacy to get his medication. After Bill returns and Eddie's breathing returns to normal, Ben explains how they could build a better dam. They all become friends and the little trio becomes the precursor to the Losers Club.

⼀Encounter with that⼀ One day, Eddie goes to watch the trains go by at the train yard and possibly listen to the singers at the nearby Gospel Church. That day, however, he passes in front of the house at number 29 Neibolt Street and feels that he cannot separate himself from her. The house is incredibly run down, old and shows evidence that many vagrants and prostitutes had used it as a shelter while passing through Derry. Eddie is drawn to the house and begins to approach it, when suddenly what appears to be a homeless man emerges from under the porch of the house. Eddie thinks the homeless man has leprosy (but then Richie and Bill correct him and tell him he had syphilis instead) since his skin is severely diseased and his nose appears to have fallen off. The leper starts chasing Eddie, yelling that he would blow Eddie for a nickel, then a dime, and then even for free. Eddie barely escapes when the leper starts running after Eddie's bike. Later, Eddie is forced to revisit the house and crawl under the porch, where he finds evidence of homeless people staying there (beer cans, liquor bottles, a blanket and an old shoe). As he looks out the basement window, he appears in a leper-like form, terrorizing him and chasing him from under the porch. Eddie tells Richie and Bill what he saw, and then Richie and Bill decide to revisit the house one more time to see if they can find it.

. . .

He uses the leper to take advantage of Eddie's fear of disease. Seeing the leper, Eddie felt that if he had touched him he would instantly catch every disease he had and rot from the inside out. This being contains every disease, illness, and infection Eddie can imagine and threatens to make him sick anyway.

. . .

⼀Eddie's Bad Chance⼀ One day, while walking home from Mr. Keene's pharmacy, Eddie is attacked by Henry Bowers, Vic Criss, Patrick Hockstetter, and Moose Sadler in the park as revenge for humiliating them during the Apocalyptic Rock Fight. They push Eddie to the ground near the park benches. Henry starts taunting Eddie and twisting his arm behind his back as he hits gravel in his face. He finally lifts Eddie's arm enough to break it. When Sonia Kaspbrak finds out about her, she freaks out and believes that the Losers are to blame. She forbids Eddie from seeing them again. However, Eddie is finally able to confront her and tell her that he can't forbid her from seeing them. Once again, she tries to manipulate Eddie with her tears and tells him that he is a bad son, but he doesn't listen and is able to continue seeing his friends and go with them to the sewers to fight it.

. . .

In the 2017 IT adaptation, Eddie breaks his arm when he sees him in leper form when he returns to 29 Neibolt and enters the house with Bill and Richie. His reason for confronting his mother also changes, accepting the truth that his medication was, in fact, a placebo and that she had been lying to him all these years for her own selfish reasons, as well as making him distance himself from his friends at the time. deeper need for them.
