Ji-yeong is a calm and absolutely fearless girl. Despite being in a death game, she is always calm and never shows any signs of being worried about dying. She joins the Squid Game because she has nowhere to go and seems to have no real goal for her own life. Before being invited by Kang Sae-byeok to join her team, Ji-yeong is seen sitting alone and not bothering to look for the teammates she needs to play the game. She seems like the type of person who distances herself from others, remaining quiet and alone if no one approaches her. Although she is not normally very talkative, Ji-yeong is intelligent and occasionally expresses her opinions, especially regarding religion. It is implied that Ji-yeong does not believe in God or religion due to her experience with her abusive father, who was a pastor. As an atheist, Ji-yeong is bothered by the absurdity of player 244 being grateful for the death of his opposing team and saying that God decided to sacrifice them so his team would survive. Ji-yeong immediately points out that this is not true since his team had to kill their opponents to win the game, so 244 simply does not admit his guilt in this murder. She is also upset by pointing out that 244 will thank his God for still being alive, but not his teammates Cho Sang-woo and Oh Il-nam, the real people who saved them during the tug-of-war game. During his team's planning, Ji-yeong notes that it's ironic that 244 is the one who suggests attacking a weak team after the lights go out, despite being a follower of a pacifist doctrine. The hypocrisy he observes in 244 is something he later reveals he experienced with his own father, who preached the peaceful values of his religion, but abused his own wife and daughter and then prayed for forgiveness.

What is the squid game?

in the show, squid game, the main premise is that 456 players, who are struggling with life financially/in debt are invited secretly to a set of deadly games, to compete for a big cash prize, of which is 45.6 billion won. when they enter the games, it seems to look like children's games at first glance. each round, they try to win in order to avoid dying, as the games are rigged and people are eliminated during each round. the survivors have to go through different rounds until one person remains standing, the final winner.
