About her

This girl is the protagonist of the YouTube channel and web series I Can't Sleep. She is an emo girl that stars in the various videos, undergoing a series of harrowing and unsettling experiences. She has no known name, however, viewers have taken to calling her "Nia", from the word "insomnia". She is often influenced into deeply distressing and disconcerting themes, delving into subjects such as mental illness, death, depression, torture, and, notably, implied sexual violence in at least one instance ("Sins of the Flesh").

She is often depicted with rough hair, striped clothing, a black shirt (or sometimes an off-the shoulder top), a mini-skirt, and boots with spikes. Her age seems to vary across videos.

Personality

Several videos such as "I miss you" hint at her missing her little sister. She keeps a doll made in her sister's image as shown in "Inside", and in "Mutter" she protects her sister from predators and even hits her own mother for presumably prostituting her little sister. She also barely reacts to the appearance of monsters and is shown to just be curious, but that non-reaction could be attributed to the schizophrenia she is implied to have. As shown in "The subway 2" and "Mom?", she has the tendency to pull out her phone camera to see if what she is seeing is real. In "The subway 2", she shows a more suppressed reaction when things go wrong around her, suggesting that she may be getting desensitized to the things she is seeing. The protagonist is also shown to be rather intelligent, as we not only see her studying, later learning from each death in the time loop despite the overwhelming strain it's having on her, and how she seemingly understands and follows Hood's Morse code in "the subway" (his knee tapping spells out 'GET OFF', which is what she does.). Nia also seemingly has a sort of fun side, as seen when she happily enjoys a warm day in "Sky", occasionally goes to the movie theater as shown in "Movie night", or when she initially goes along with dancing in "[[Get . All in all, the protagonist is a very shy, timid, overly curious, overly trusting and naive girl, yet she also is very intelligent and isn't afraid to have some fun and live in the moment from time to time.
