You had a mom who loved you, a home, a life, you had it GOOD! And you STILL wanted to run away, I... I didn't have a choice. My real name is... Number 5. I'm a basilisk, and technically, I... I shouldn't exist. Vee is a recurring character of The Owl House. She is a basilisk from the Boiling Isles in the Demon Realm. After escaping from the Isles, she shapeshifted into a doppelgänger of Luz Noceda but was ultimately taken in by Camila Noceda, beginning a new life in Luz's place in the Human Realm.

Appearance Body Vee is a basilisk beast demon[4] that has a small, chubby serpentine body with two arms and a fishlike tail in place of legs. Her face is round with wide eyes and a turned-up nose. She has a catlike mouth in a "W" shape with two small teeth poking out from her bottom jaw with her lower lip being a dark maroon color. She has pale, swamp-green scales with cream-colored spots on her head, tail, underbelly, and the bottom half of her face. There are tufts of navy-blue hair on her head, back, and ears. Her eyes consist of yellow-gold pupils, black irises, and aqua sclera. She has off-white fins on the sides and tip of her tail, along with a dull peacock-blue piercing on the tip. In Vee's disguised form, her silhouette is almost identical to Luz's, save for clothing and hair. Her hair is put up and smoothed down far neater than Luz's is, with a noticeably thicker sheen. The top does not stick up to one side, as it is clipped down by hair barrettes. In Vee's partially disguised form, she mostly resembles her disguised form, except she has her basilisk ears and eyes. There are two spots underneath each of her eyes, which resemble those of her true form, a spot on the back of each hand, a spot on the back of each ankle, and spots around her ears.

In "Thanks to Them", Vee changes her human form's appearance to differentiate herself from Luz; her hair is green with blue tips, resembling her fins, and she keeps her basilisk ears which blend into her hair. Her skin color is lighter, though still similar enough to easily pass as a member of the Noceda family, and her legs have more muscle mass. She also retains her basilisk eyes, but the sclera is now white. In the epilogue of "Watching and Dreaming", Vee's human form has much longer hair with light blue ends. Her basilisk form hasn't changed much but she is a bit taller, her hair is still longer and the hair on her back is lighter blue like her hair. She now has a nose ring on her right side along with an earring on her right ear, and the piercing on her tail is gone. Clothing When she first assumed Luz's form, Vee wore the same outfit as her. Later on, she started wearing an air force-blue hoodie with darker cuffs, a mustard-yellow shirt underneath with a white collar and a pair of black buttons at the neck, Prussian blue leggings, and white sneakers with silver-gray laces and soles. She has a single yellow hair barrette on each temple. When partially disguised, she dons a camo-green winter hat with cat ears and paws to stop people from seeing her basilisk ears and a pair of massive, yellow-tinted cat-eye sunglasses to hide her blue sclera. After changing her look in "Thanks to Them", she now wears a yellow and orange striped sweater with a pumpkin on the chest, blue torn pants and brown boots. In the epilogue to "Watching and Dreaming", Vee wears a red shirt with a half-earth/half-titan-skull symbol on it, gray pants with a torn left knee, and a black jacket with gold buttons and rolled up sleeves. Her character sheet also depicts her wearing sneakers. Additional features Vee has nictitated membranes and a second set of eyelids that close horizontally in her true form, which manifest in her disguised form in times of stress.

By the time Luz returned to the Human Realm, Vee adjusted well into human culture, giving her the most common sense out of Luz's friends. She also gained a boost in self-confidence, for she was willing to confront Jacob Hopkins again, despite initial trepidation from when he imprisoned her before and even stood against Belos himself while he was possessing Hunter. However, she is still wary of humans finding out about her true nature. Background Vee was part of a batch of basilisks that were brought back from extinction by Emperor Belos, along with the help of his coven, in order to study their ability to extract magic from living beings. Labeled as subject Number 5, Vee was put through various experiments where she was forced to extract magic from living creatures until they were completely drained, which she heavily detested doing. Eventually, Vee and a few other basilisks became fed up with the inhumane tests and escaped, going into hiding afterward. While in the market one day, Vee spotted Luz when she first met Eda at her Human Collectibles stand, and covertly, Vee crawled through the portal in Eda's tent while the crowd was distracted. Entering on the other side of the portal to the Human Realm, Vee turned into Luz on instinct as soon as she heard Camila approaching her, and after learning that the woman was Luz's mother, Camila offered to give her a ride to the camp. Vee was surprised by the kindness from Camila and the prospect of having a real life, so she decided to continue the charade as Luz and went to the camp in her place. At camp, Vee made friends with a few kids and wrote letters to Camila telling her about her time there.[1]

After summer camp ended, Vee continued posing as Luz and started spending time with Camila.[5] One day, Vee is clearing Luz's bedroom of the latter's things, which Camila finds bizarre. Just then, they hear a rabbit squeak in distress, and the two free it. Vee heads back inside to continue clearing the room, grabbing one of Luz's shirts. After she shuts the closet door, the real Luz appears through the mirror on the closet and shouts at Vee, startling her. Before she can shatter the mirror, Camila questions if she is alright, only for the real Luz to cover for her saying she saw a spoiler from her favorite anime. Terrified, Vee jumps out of the window and runs all the way to the old house, lamenting angrily about running again. She is too caught up in doing so and ends up accidentally getting caught in a trap set there, causing Vee to lash out and turn into her basilisk form from her stress. Luz, through a purse mirror, helps her free herself and asks why she is impersonating her, and Vee reveals that she just wanted a place to belong. The human realizes that she can continue impersonating her since Camila is unaware that her real daughter is missing, but Vee says that she has run out of magic, as she used the last of it just now to partially disguise herself. Upon seeing a piece of newspaper with Eda on it, Luz believes that the Owl Lady might have left some magic behind, so Vee sets out to find a source of it.

After arriving at Robin's Roast Café, with Vee wearing a hat and sunglasses to hide her non-human features, she and Luz learn that Eda (under the alias name of Marylin) was banned for life trying to pay for a latte with a live raccoon. In the alleyway, Vee finds talking rats, making her scream and run away. After Vee finds her camp friends in the town square playing Hexes Hold'em, they direct her to the Gravesfield Historical Society, where the curator, Jacob Hopkins, agrees to bring her some Hexes Hold'em cards. As they wait, Vee tells Luz about her life before entering the Human Realm and how kind Camila has been to her, silently criticizing the human for wanting to get away from such a loving woman. Suddenly, Vee smells magic and goes into the back room to find the source of it, but to her horror, she finds weapons in the room along with a picture of Eda and realizes through computer screens that she has been watched the entire time. In her panic, she trips over a red laser, which promptly locks her in a cage. By now, Vee has also panic shifted back into her basilisk form. Jacob enters the room, pleased to have finally captured a demon, and he informs the basilisk that she will stay in that cage for the rest of her life. Vee orders Luz to go back to the Demon Realm, fearing Jacob will out her true identity to Camila. Despite Luz's insistence otherwise, she assures her that it's alright, breaking the mirror with her tail and severing contact with Luz.

Luz, through her mother's phone screen, manages to convince Camila to go to the Historical Society, although she believes that her daughter is just playing another game with her. However, when Camila finds Vee in her true form, she realizes that Luz wasn't lying to her — Vee wasn't her real daughter. She comforts the basilisk, commending her strength, but Jacob walks in, attempting to dissect Vee. Camila, refusing to let this happen, strikes the curator with her chancla and rescues Vee, taking her home and promising her shelter for as long as she needs it. Following that day, Vee continues to stay in the Noceda household and remains in her true form when around Camila, often helping her with housework. At some point during this time, after learning more about Luz's reasons for running from home (possibly from Camila), Vee restocked all of Luz's belongings that she had previously attempted to discard, while also leaving a note by her bedroom door to welcome her home for when she finally returned, presumably out of guilt for her previously harsh scolding of her in the Historical Society.

On a rainy day, Vee is about to be served soup by Camila when Luz and her friends from the Demon Realm arrive at the doorstep. She and Camila listen as Luz, Gus, Amity, Willow, and Hunter explain the current state of the Demon Realm. As everyone gets ready for bed, she shows Willow and Amity a human alarm clock, and watches how the young witches overreact and destroy it. In the day and weeks that follow, Vee grows close to Luz and her friends and adopts a new appearance since Luz has returned home. She aids in their attempts to make a new portal, but they all end in failure. late October, she and the other Boiling Isles residents practice Spanish when Camila arrives to tell them she is going to pick Luz up from school. As everyone thinks of ways to help around the house more, Amity suggests they search the town for possible solutions while Luz is at school and the others agree. Soon, Amity steps on a hole Flapjack made and, upon pulling her foot out, finds a box with a map with symbols on it. The five agree to look around town for information on the map but decide to not tell Luz as they feel she has too much going on at the moment.

The following day, Vee, Amity, Gus, Willow, and Hunter gather up in the Old House before setting out to search the town for answers. Hunter stays behind after his outfit is deemed too standout-ish. The four explore the town, inadvertently causing mischief at a magic store and the town library. The four even stare down a giraffe at the Zoo for clues but get nowhere. As they question their next move, Vee reluctantly suggests they go to the Gravesfield Historical Society. When they arrive, she is shocked to learn Jacob was fired due to making unapproved changes to the attractions, and her friend Masha took his place. Masha informs them their map is actually a rebus and partially breaks it down for them. The group explores the exit where they realize the rebus leads to Titan's Blood. Vee compliments their friendship as they reveal the three have only become close recently. As they pull Vee in for a picture, she notices the map of Old Gravesfield matches the rebus and they now have a location for the blood. The four agree to tell Luz on Halloween. That night, she helps the others get their costumes ready. On Halloween, she stays home to tend to the trick or treaters but goes with Camila to Old Gravesfield when her caretaker learns of Luz's plan.

When they arrive, they learn Luz and Hunter are missing and she tracks Luz's phone. They find the two in a half-flooded graveyard and learn Hunter is possessed by Belos. They try to save him with Vee attempting to siphon Belos, but they fail. They watch as Belos attempts to drain Flapjack and Hunter regains control long enough to throw the blood away. Belos regains control and dives in after it, with the partially possessed Hunter being rescued by Camila. The six watches as Belos un-possesses Hunter into a physical form and creates a temporary portal. Vee unsuccessfully tries to obtain a signal on a phone as Flapjack sacrifices himself to save Hunter. As the others decide to go to the Demon Realm, Vee stays behind and takes Camila's place to avoid suspicion, tasked with informing Camila's coworkers that she has taken leave to tend to her abuela. Once the others have entered the Demon Realm, Vee expresses mild frustration as Camila takes the car keys with her. Four years after Belos is defeated, Vee has graduated high school along with Luz. As she, Luz, and Camila get ready to go to the Demon Realm, she whispers to Owlbert to gather everyone. As Vee and the Nocedas walk through the portal, she transforms into her true form, exchanging conversation with Luz telling her to hurry, and Luz tells Vee not to worry, and that it will not matter if they are a little late. She and the others surprise Luz with a belated quinceañera and watch the Collector's light show with the others in attendance.

Camila is Vee's caretaker and the first person to have ever shown her kindness. After Luz went to the Demon Realm, the young basilisk snuck into the Human Realm and assumed Luz's appearance, living with Camila ever since due to her kindness. Camila was completely unaware of Vee's true identity until "Yesterday's Lie", when she was captured by Jacob Hopkins. However, after learning of Vee's true identity, she still offers her a place to stay at her home, calling her a strong girl. In "Reaching Out", Vee is seen in her true form inside Camila's house, showing that Camila is probably comfortable and accepting of Vee's true form. When Camila goes with Luz to the Demon Realm, she takes on her form so she can "hold down the fort". In the epilogue, it is shown that Vee was accepted as a member of the Noceda family, with Camila assuming the role of a maternal figure to Vee.

Originally, Luz was a human Vee chose to impersonate when she escaped to the Human Realm. After meeting Camila, Vee would maintain her disguise as Luz over the summer, effectively assuming her identity both at home and Summer Camp while Luz stayed in the Demon Realm. The two first met in "Yesterday's Lie" while Vee was masquerading as her in the Human Realm. When Luz tried to see her mother, she was shocked and scared at the idea of someone pretending to be her. However, after learning the truth about Vee's past, she felt great sympathy for her while Vee resented Luz for wanting to abandon what she perceived as a loving, fulfilling life, completely unaware of the circumstances that made her so miserable. Despite being hurt by Vee's harsh criticism, Luz didn't bear any ill will towards her and still sought to help her. When Vee was captured by Jacob soon after their conversation, Luz immediately contacted her mother to help rescue her, even though this meant exposing the truth she desperately sought to keep secret from Camila. After being rescued from Jacob, Vee thanked Luz for helping her, even attempting to share a high-five with her. Since then, Vee's opinion of Luz greatly improved, with the two now considering each other friends.

Prior to Luz's return in "Thanks to Them", Vee came to better understand Luz's reasons for running away from home and the circumstances that made her life on Earth so hard and lonely for her. Because of this, in addition to abandoning her resentment of Luz, it's been subtly implied that Vee feels a sense of guilt for her previous condemnation towards her, and seeks to make it up for it. This was shown upon Luz's return, where it was revealed that Vee had not only returned to Luz's room all of the belongings she had previously attempted to throw away, but also left a note by her door stating, "Welcome home Luz, we missed you!". In the months following her return, Vee and Luz's friendship has grown as they worked alongside the latter's Hexside classmates in attempting to rebuild the portal door to the Boiling Isles, while also having fun together. When she and the others found the rebus leading to a hidden vile of Titan's blood, Vee was the first to eagerly suggest informing Luz of their discovery, though she was convinced by the others to refrain from doing so out of fear of strengthening Luz's sense of guilt over their previously failed attempts to open the portal door, should the rebus have proven to be false. In the years following Belos' defeat in the Demon Realm, the two have developed a strong sibling bond with each other, fully accepting and loving each other as though they are sisters. Vee would become classmates with Luz at Gravesfield High before joyfully graduating together. Along with their mother and the rest of Luz's friends, Vee was among those who planned and attended Luz's belated quinceañera at the Owl House on her 18th birthday in gratitude for all she had done for her.

Masha is one of Vee's friends she met while disguised as Luz in Reality Check Summer Camp. While searching for anything magical in Gravesfield, Vee happily goes over to Masha and their other friends. However, she becomes uneasy when they unknowingly give her an accurate prediction with Hexes Hold'em cards. When she learns they're working at the Historical Society, Masha senses something familiar about Vee; she throws them off, presumably worried about Masha realizing she is a doppelgänger or her crush,[3] although she then blushes and becomes flustered, when Masha hands her a brochure and offers to show her around town. Jacob was spying on Vee and caught her, thanks to a camera he installed in the Old House, claiming that she was a monster from Mars. Jacob felt no emotion towards her as he stated he was more than willing to cut her open and sell her to the government for the sake of proving his theories were true. After the horrendous experience, she was too traumatized to return to the Gravesfield Historical Society until it became the only possible lead for interpreting a rebus found at the Old House, meaning she was unaware that he had gotten himself fired with unauthorized, narcissistic additions to the exhibits.

During their months stuck in the Human Realm, Vee grew close to Willow Park, Gus Porter, Amity Blight, and Hunter. She would aid in their multiple attempts to build a functioning portal and share in their fun times, even helping them adapt to life in the Human Realm. After discovering the rebus, Vee would join Willow, Amity, and Gus in searching for answers around Gravesfield. Upon multiple dead ends, she reluctantly suggests going to the Gravesfield Historical Society. After they realize the rebus leads to Titan's blood, Vee compliments the three on their coronation and shyly asks if she could take a picture with them. Vee continues hanging out with them over the next four years, even attending Grom with everybody. Emperor Belos and the Emperor's Coven brought Vee and the Basilisks back from extinction to test their absorbing abilities. He put her and her kind through many experiments to extract living creatures of their magic until they were completely drained. Vee and a few other Basilisks would escape from him and the Emperor's Coven, she had lived in fear from him and knew he would come looking for her and her fellow Basilisks. When Belos possessed Hunter, Vee attempted to absorb him out of Hunter, but Belos was fixing to attack her. After Belos returned to the Boiling Isles, Vee wasn't ready to return until Belos was stopped.

Powers and abilities Magic absorption: As a basilisk, Vee is capable of absorbing and feeding on magic, however she has a limited range and must be close to her target. Magic detection/tracking: As a basilisk, Vee is able to detect magic near her, however she has a limited range and must be close to her target. Shapeshifting: Vee is able to change her shape into anything she chooses, however, she needs magic in order to utilize the ability. As her reserves run out, it is harder for her to maintain her disguise. Bilingualism: Having lived with Camilla for some time, Vee has learned to speak Spanish fluently. Name and basis Vee's name is derived from "V", the Roman numeral for 5, as her original subject name was "Number 5" (labeled V) while imprisoned. Debut Vee was formally introduced in the episode "Yesterday's Lie"; however, she first officially appeared in "Keeping up A-fear-ances" where she was presented as Luz's impostor. She was also alluded to in "Enchanting Grom Fright" as the mysterious writer behind Luz's camp letters.

She is a basilisk who came to the human realm and took Luz's place. Personality Vee is shown to be rather insecure about her identity as a basilisk and is fearful and wary of strangers. However, she became more comfortable after shapeshifting into an impostor of Luz. She then started living with Camila, easily deceiving her and others into thinking she was the real Luz for months. As the impostor, Vee is shown to be laid-back, opportunistic, and more toned down compared to the real Luz. She dislikes confrontation heavily, and when put under pressure or in troublesome situations, Vee can be left petrified for an extended period of time. During her time in the human realm, Vee adapted quickly to human culture. She learnt cooking with Camila, studied Spanish, and familiarized herself with human devices. Powers and abilities Like all Basilisks, Vee has the ability to extract magic, which gives her powers, such as the ability to shapeshift.

Background Vee was part of a batch of basilisks that were brought back from extinction by Emperor Belos in order to study their ability to extract magic from living beings. Labeled as subject Number 5, Vee was put through various experiments where she was forced to extract magic from living creatures until they were completely drained, which she heavily detested doing. Eventually, she and a few other basilisks became fed up with the inhumane tests and escaped. However, it was only a matter of time before the Emperor recaptured them. On the day Luz came to the Boiling Isles, Vee went through the same Portal to escape. Upon arrival, she met Luz's mother, Camila Noceda. She took on Luz's form to hide her true appearance. She never intended to stay with Camila, but she quickly grew close to her. She showed her the only kindness she had ever known all her life. Since then, she has been living with Camila, pretending to be Luz.

By "Yesterday's Lie", her secret was exposed when Luz managed to regain contact with the Human realm. Despite Camila knowing the truth, she still managed to see she was not a nasty creature, but an innocent child seeking a place of belonging. After saving her from a witch obsessed curator, Camila welcomed Vee to continue living with her, which she happily accepted. In "Reaching Out", she is seen cooking while Camila places a vase with flowers on the window. In "King's Tide", while Camila was cooking, she and Camila heard a knock at the door and it was Luz, Amity Blight, Willow Park, Gus Porter, and Hunter by the door. In "Thanks to Them", Vee plays a major role, where she shows Amity and Willow an Alarm clock, but the duo mistake it for something dangerous and destroy. She later joins Luz, Amity, Willow, Gus, and Hunter on their time to make a new gateway back to the boiling isles but were unsuccessful. Vee later took a new human form and continue helping the Hexsquad find clues back to the boiling isles and helping them learn about the Human Realm. She, Amity, Willow, and Gus arrived at Gravesfield Historical Society where Vee was reluctant to go because of Jacob Hopkins, only to discover he was fired and replaced by her friend: Masha. Masha then starts to ask Vee if they have seen her somewhere before, Vee tells them that she just has one of those faces. She, Willow, Gus, and Amity show Masha the Rebus and they discover it's a map of old Gravesfield and will lead to Titan's blood. The next day, it's Halloween and Vee help Camila passed out candy and later falls sleep. When Luz and Hunter go missing, Vee joins Camila, Amity, Willow and Gus to search for them, they spotted them only see to Hunter possessed by Belos. Vee attempt to save Hunter by absorbing Belos only for Belos to attack her but saved by Amity. Belos then escapes through the Portal to destroy the Boiling Isles and witness Flapjack revived Hunter.

Luz then confesses to everyone that she did help Belos find the Collector, but before she could announce her plans to stay in the Human Realm, Camila decides to accompany them to the Isles to stop Belos. Her friends comfort her and that she is not to blamed for helping Belos and that Belos trick her. Vee stays behind and takes the form of Camila while the others enter the Demon Realm. At the end of "Watching and Dreaming", Vee continued to live with Camila, and graduated high school with Luz. A photo on the walls shows that she has joined the baseball team, and a shirt she is wearing also suggests that she has enrolled in the Demon Realm / Human Realm exchange program established by Gus. In addition, Vee is seen being comfortable to return to the Demon Realm in true form whenever she likes as she transformed into her true self upon arriving in the Boiling Isles to celebrate Luz's eighteenth birthday and belated quinceañera. She is the second basilisk to appear in the show, followed by The Inspector from "The First Day". Unlike the Inspector, however, Vee is kind and doesn't want to harm others. Even though it is a basilisk's nature to drain magic while the harming the one they take it from. According to European bestiaries and legends, a basilisk is a legendary reptile reputed to be a serpent king, who can cause death with a single glance.
