Childhood:

Dean Winchester is the eldest of the Winchester brothers. He was born on January 24, 1979 in Lawrence, Kansas. When he was very young, his mother was tragically murdered by an iconic demon (Azazel, also known as "Yellow Eyes") who snuck into their Kansas home in order to curse his then-newborn baby brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) through his blood. This event would mark both his father's life and his own, since John (his father) decides to dedicate himself solely to hunting this demon and it is Dean, being the older brother, who is in charge of his brother Sam, thus assuming the role of "father". In this way, Dean's childhood will be catastrophic and different from that of any other minor: without the presence of his parents in his guardianship and protecting his brother at all times from any paranormal event, all while trying to survive all the paranormal events that happen to him. The Winchester family leaves Kansas after the death of Mary (Sam and Dean's mother), and begins a rather nomadic life, in which they constantly move while John Winchester (their father, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) becomes a hunter of ghosts and supernatural beings, with the sole purpose of locating the demon that caused the death of his wife, completely leaving aside his role in the Winchesters' childhood.

However, he does not die because his father, John Winchester, makes a deal with Azazel to cure him and thus keep the grim reaper away from Dean, who will be revived by Azazel. Mysterious Place - Dean is killed multiple times in an endless loop by the Prankster/Trickster, to teach Sam a lesson about how his brother is his weakness. Revived by the archangel Gabriel posing as Loki. No Rest for the Wicked - Dean dies from multiple wounds inflicted by one of Lilith's Hellhounds and is dragged to Hell for making a deal to revive Sam. He is later rescued and revived by Castiel. Dark of the Moon - Dean and Sam are killed by hunters Roy and Walt, who blame them for bringing about the apocalypse. Revived by Joshua on God's orders. Quote In Samarra - Dean dies for a few minutes to contact Death and ask him to bring Sam's soul back. Revived by Dr. Robert with adrenaline. Do you believe in miracles? - Dean dies at the hands of Metatron. Revived by the Mark of Cain. Red Meat - Dean commits suicide by overdose, to make a deal with the grim reaper Billie to revive Sam but rejects her saying that Sam is not dead. Revived by Dr. Kessler with adrenaline. First Blood - Dean makes a deal with the Grim Reaper Billie for a chance to escape Site 94, stopping his and Sam's hearts for a period of time in exchange for being able to take a Winchester permanently, the deal is broken when Castiel kills the Grim Reaper. Revived by Billie Advanced Thanatology - Dean injects himself with a drug that allows him to die temporarily, in order to free the trapped ghosts, with the plan that Sam will bring him back with a second injection, but it fails.

Curiosities:

Dean and Sam are the only characters who have been to Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory. He went to Hell on the year he had bargained for Sam, where he was tortured until his soul was broken. He went to heaven with Sam after his second death at the hands of hunters. He went to purgatory after defeating Dick Roman but returned on his own thanks to a friend he made there, after a year.
