Rhagaea is an intelligent, charismatic and strategic woman with great determination and political acumen. She is also known for her ability to make difficult decisions to maintain the stability of the Empire and to skillfully manipulate opposing factions to achieve her goals. Rhagaea Pethros is the Empress of the Southern Empire, leader of Clan Pethros, and claims the Imperial Diadem of the Calradois Empire. Before the events of Bannerlord, she was the wife of Arenicos, the emperor who died under suspicious circumstances. As the widow of Arenicos and mother of his daughter Ira, heir presumptive, she asserts that it is the right of the Emperor's family to inherit the Empire. Emperors Lucon and Garios disputed this claim, leading to the Calradean Civil War. Rhagaea prefers a hereditary monarchy to an imperial title, with a more feudal system of absolute governance under the Emperor. She believes that the Calradean Civil War resulted from the violation of the law of succession to prevent her and her daughter from succeeding Emperor Arenicos. Her claim to unify Calradia as Empress is purely feudal and sparked the Calradian Civil War.
