Appearance

Chilchuck is a Half-foot with light skin, short auburn hair, and dark brown eyes. He is half the size of a typical tallman featuring larger sized ears; which is common for his race. He is said to be tall for a half-foot, and is slender due to careful weight management. For his typical dungeon attire, he wears a brown padded vest and green neck warmer over a white long-sleeved shirt, leather fingerless gloves, black pants, and leather boots.

Personality

Chilchuck is shrewd and practical, rarely taking jobs from adventurers unless he is paid in advance.[4] This behavior was learned from his experiences of being exploited as a Half-foot.[5] He is more open to eating monsters than Marcille is,[6] but like her, draws a hard line at demi-humans.[7] He generally goes along with whatever the party does, but can speak frankly when they do something that can get them killed.[citation needed] His job as the party rogue puts him on edge, as failure to undo or avoid traps can lead his companions to immediate mortal danger.[8] When other party members ignore his warnings, he quickly becomes agitated.[citation needed] He prefers to keep his private life separate from his work, so he doesn't tell his party a lot about himself. This is consistent with his belief that the most common reason for party splits is interpersonal issues.[9]

Abilities

Chilchuck utilizes his heightened senses to keep his party out of trouble. His skills allow him to allocate his two large ears to help his crew thrive amongst eachother and help with the journeys they make. His field of expertise is in locating[10] and disarming traps[8] and picking locks,[11] but he also uses his sensitive hearing to detect the approach of enemies before his companions are able to.[12] Chilchuck also acts as the party guide, planning their path, finding shortcuts[11] and remembering the different passages through the dungeon.[13] He is fairly adept at making maps of the ever-changing dungeon.[14] In battle, Chilchuck is able to wield a bow and arrow[15] and can also throw knives[16] with fairly high accuracy in finding their target.[17][18] In spite of this, he does not consider himself useful in battle, regularly excluding himself when counting people able to fight.[19][20] This appears to be due to thinking himself a hindrance to the others,[21] both because his ranged weaponry does very minimal damage[20] and his small stature meaning he would always be running underfoot.[22]

Laois

Laios is another member of the party that will be mentioned every so often. Laios is a Tall-man with short blond hair and light gold eyes. He prefers to keep his hair short and be clean shaven in order to look less like his estranged father. His outfit while dungeon-crawling is a set of silver plate armour that reaches his mid-thighs with a belt around his waist. He also wears a pair of silver gauntlets, a white shirt under his armor, silver knee guards, and simple brown boots. Laios is a very strong fighter and the leader of the party. He often uses the knowledge gained from cooking monsters to develop techniques to defeat them, and is a quick thinker who comes up with full plans on the fly. He is a very calm and gentle person but gets very excited when he talks about monsters, which bothers most of the people around him. He tends to speak very quickly when excited.[citation needed] Despite his deep knowledge and passion for monsters and proficiency in combat, he often falters outside of these situations due to an absence of self preservation or common sense towards his objectives.[citation needed] Laios tends to lack tact and social skills when dealing with others, often saying everything that comes to his mind to the point where it causes frustration and confusion in others.[5] Despite this, he is extremely friendly and accepting towards others, being quick to forge friendships with other groups and even orcs, and becomes excited at the prospect of others seeing him as their friend.[citation needed]

Marcille

Marcille is another member of the party that will be mentioned every so often. Chilchuck views Marcille as "the friend who cannot shut up".[23] He is often the practical foil to her more imaginative or idealistic views Marcille is a half-elf with long blonde hair, green eyes and rounded elves ears, an indication of her being a half-elf. In her normal dungeon attire, she wears a long blue dress with white pants, a blue cowl, a red choker, and sandals. She styles her hair differently every day.[citation needed] She is taller than Chilchuck and Senshi, but shorter than Falin and Laios. Marcille is intelligent, principled, and loyal to her friends. Despite this, she can also be very high-strung and has a difficult time dealing with things far outside her comfort zone (such as eating monsters).[7] She has a lot of confidence in her ability to cast magic due to her background, and can feel lonely when she is unable to help the party with her specialty.[8] She can also feel a bit self-conscious when using dark magic, which she knows to be illegal, as shown with her nervousness when telling her other party members about her plans to revive Falin. When others look down on her for using dark magic, she has a tendency to feel extremely guilty about it, as shown when she faced Shuro's anger at the methods taken to revive Falin.[9] She can also be somewhat naïve, believing that friendships alone can keep a party together.

Senshi

Senshi is another member of the party that will be mentioned every so often Senshi is a dwarf with tan skin, long black hair and round black eyes, and possesses a stocky build. He also has a long and ruffled beard, which was initially very dirty (to the point of being resistant to magic) but was later cleaned with assistance from Marcille.[1] Compared to the rest of the group, he has a more cartoonish face, with rounded eyes and a very pronounced nose. His eyes also go slit-eyed when skeptical.[citation needed] He is almost never seen without his hat, which is a full plated helmet, with horns, two holes at the bottom right, and a "X" scar on the middle. It is noted by Laios Touden that it was somewhat sweaty.[citation needed] Senshi's helmet was once worn by Gillin, his old benefactor.[2][3] Senshi wears this helmet as a memento to him. The "X" scar on the helmet is from when Senshi himself repaired the hole the hippogriff kicked in.[3] He wears forearm guards that are brown and fluffed. He wears some metal armor on his calf and hip area, with some sandals. The male members of the party also think Senshi is handsome, though only in their memories.[4 Senshi has a very traditional and obstinate personality. Since he has spent ten years learning how to eat monsters in the dungeon he can be very set in his ways, leading to clashes with other party members (especially Marcille and occasionally Chilchuck). However, since they showed interest in eating monsters, he is very happy to share his skills with them. Senshi can be very careless. He has a savant-like interest in cooking monsters and little else. This leads him to neglect maintenance of his weapons[5] and walk into traps despite being warned of them. He holds a strong belief in only taking what is needed[6] and giving back to the dungeon what he takes from it[7], and can get frustrated when others do not respect this.[8] He despises all forms of magic, believing its overuse can lead to one's downfall.

Chilchucks history

Chilchuck was born in a small village in a basin northeast of the Island. For the last decade or so, he traveled around dungeons doing business: lock-picking, language interpreting, mediating, and item appraisals.[2] At some point, Chilchuck got married and had three daughters,[27] Meijack, Flertom and Puckpatti.[28] Due to Chilchuck's reluctance to be emotionally open with his wife, she left with their children and has not seen him for many years. Despite this, one of his daughters has sent him letters informing him of their lives. Chilchuck was caught and killed by mimics multiple times when he was a novice adventurer. He once was so wary of mimics that he forgot to check an ordinary treasure chest for traps.[29] He had accompanied multiple parties before joining Laios' and saw many of them split due to interpersonal issues.[23] He also has a leadership position among the Half-foot population on the Island and often advises other Half-foot individuals to run contracts by the guild before they sign. He charges a mediation fee for this service.[30] Chilchuck created this guild to prevent the exploitation and undervaluation of Half-foots as disposable sacrifices. This was likely put in place after he narrowly escaped being used as succubus bait by his hunting party.[5] In the past, while in Laios' party, he was caught in a fire/oil trap, which he believes is worse than dying instantly.[31]

Chilchucks children

Meijack Meijack is a Half-foot with light skin, freckles across her face and hooded dark eyes. She has her ginger hair tied into two long pigtails with a fringe at her eyebrows. She wears a black sleeveless turtleneck, black pants with black gloves, and knee high leather boots. Meijack is described by Chilchuck as standoffish and the most like himself. It can be assumed that she has a similar personality to him. She also seems uninterested in romance, unlike her younger sisters. Meijack is proficient at lockpicking. Chilchuck mentions she is skilled at her job, to the Laios' Party. Going as far as to say that if he were to die, they should hire her. She's the oldest of her sisters. Flertom Flertom is a Half-foot with light skin and dark shoulder-length ruffled hair with a swept fringe. Flertom is eager to marry a rich dwarf. She finds half-foots to be stingy and unsavory. She is the middle child. Puckpatti Puckpatti is a Half-foot with light skin and mid-length straight ginger hair with a fringe. She wears a white long-sleeved tunic. Chilchuck describes Puckpatti as a "not taking life real seriously".[2]
