The T-1000 Advanced Prototype [1], also known as the Series 1000 [2], is a Terminator series produced by Skynet in 2029. The Series 1000 Terminator is completely autonomous, [3] and unlike previous Infiltrator models which used rubber skin - and then eventually living tissue - over a metallic endoskeleton, the T-1000 is made entirely of a liquid metal called a "mimetic polyalloy", meaning it can reform itself into any shape it touches of the approximate size, thus calling it a "shape-shifter". It cannot transform into any random object, such as a pack of cigarettes, as that size is considerably smaller. The T-1000 also cannot transform into any object that requires machinery to operate, such as a bomb. Another severe limitation of the T-1000 is that it cannot generate conventional weapons of its own volition, though it can utilize weaponry and vehicles it finds. However, it can create primitive, blunt weapons, such as hooks, or sharp weapons, such as knives. The T-1000's usual modus operandi is to impersonate civilians it encounters or kills, and only attack once the target has been identified.

One of the T-1000's fundamental directives is "essence recovery," as the more it loses, the less effective it becomes. The default command in the mimetic polyalloy's molecular memory is to find the parent mass and reattach to it. Each molecule has a range of 14 km (8.7 mi). If a piece of mimetic polyalloy is out of range of the superfluid's parent body, it can locally mimic something as camouflage (e.g., a rock or piece of pipe) until the T-1000 is back in range and detects it. Due to its liquid metal construction, the T-1000 is able to largely regenerate from damage caused by ballistic weapons. However, the greater the damage, the longer it will take to repair. In some cases, a T-1000 unit can even fully recover from a point-blank phased plasma blast to the head. Separating the parts of a T-1000 is not enough to prevent it from regenerating, as the individual pieces would seek out each other and reform into a complete, fully functional battle unit at short distances. The smaller the volume of particles, the less intelligent each piece becomes. Shape T-1000 infiltrators, like other polyalloy-equipped stealth units,[6] are initially deployed in a default, individualized humanoid form, which they retain for the majority of their active service. It is believed that this form was maintained because it was more energy-efficient than mimicking others and reduced the stress placed on their ability to molecularly expand when mimicking larger subjects. Due to mass conservation, when the T-1000 mimicked a human subject of larger volume than its default form, its density decreased. Thus, it compensated for the illogical mass constitutions of the subject it replicated. For example, it is possible that the T-1000 may have had to reduce its weight further in order to give the appearance of greater mass. Sensor The T-1000's auditory sensors could be located anywhere on its body. Analysis of the environment The T-1000 can use its body to record its surroundings in a number of ways, and can directly read magnetically encoded information. [3][4] Advertisement Combat skills The T-1000 is not equipped with any weapons, but is capable of creating any form of solid metal, such as knives, swords, and other bladed weapons, by simply extending a limb and solidifying it into the desired shape. The T-1000 cannot mimic any complex systems, which may have moving parts or chemicals, such as guns or explosives. However, the T-1000 is capable of concealing and carrying weapons of mass destruction.
