He is quite quick-tempered and loses his temper easily. He enjoys the process of battle itself, especially with opponents whom he considers worthy of wielding a sword. This only emphasizes his special devotion to the art of fencing. Squalo is also distinguished by considerable insight.His personality exhibits a clear analytical mind and obvious intelligence, especially in the application of strategies. In a stubborn and difficult battle, in which he lost his hand, Squalo won and had to lead the Varia detachment. However, he handed over this post to Xanxus, becoming his faithful deputy, but securing for himself the well-deserved title of Second Sword Emperor. In the last fight against Tyr, he cut off his left hand, replacing it with a mechanized prosthetic hand with a sword, which allowed him to master fencing techniques even better. In everyday life, he wears a dark glove on his artificial hand. Translated from Italian, his name Squalo means "shark". While the surname Superbia means "pride", or "arrogance". This is a kind of reference to the seven deadly sins, the names of which are present in the names of the other members of Varia. Shares Xanxus's habit of calling others by various belittling nicknames ("garbage", "scum", "scum", etc.). Squalo was left-handed. Squalo's favorite food is tuna carpaccio.
